We occasionally drop into the Metropolitan for a drink after work.. good cocktails... lovely atmosphere... this pub seems to have reinvented itself.. plenty of people congregating for a drink despite all the chaos of the roadworks on Pitt St.

Bar staff were great but the meal was very disappointing. When a chef can't make a simple meal with hot freshly made (even made same day) mashed potato it really says something about his culinary skills. If I hadn't been so hungry I wouldn't have left the reheated food on my plate. Not somewhere I would revisit.

Good little place for live music. Was packed the night i went, with young people watching (i can only assume) some of their mates playing. The bar itself looks a bit like a RSL, but good for what was needed there. Staff were great

You get what you pay for, needs a bit of a facelift but hotel rooms are for sleeping in and changing clothes not for sitting in all day so for me it was fine, really close to centre and the bar staff were very helpful, my second time here and I will be going again the next time I'm passing.

Such lovely people with great service, just minutes away from a good shopping district. Very affordable, and great food. While decor and the rooms are a bit worn, it's very cozy.

Clean room, clean bathroom (note that the bathrooms are shared, it's a pub), comfy bed and meals right downstairs. The staff are all friendly and were happy to make me a cup of tea at 9pm. The area is right next to Chinatown (food!!!) and also within striking distance of come of the best coffee in Adelaide.

Perfect spot for those looking for a comfortable and affordable home base in the CBD. Close to most major central attractions such as the market, dining options, bars, etc. with staff all very friendly and accommodating.

For my purpose of a cozy place to crash during a brief weekend catching up with local friends this venue exceeded expectations - I will absolutely stay here again when visiting Adelaide.

Hotel review : don't expect to sleep before 1am. We got a room just next to a pub where they play live hard rock music for hours every single days for 4 days in a row. I could hear it perfectly even with noice cancellation earphones 🙁 woke up tired and with an headache. Otherwise, beds are comfortable, shared bathroom clean. It's just a pity to not provide a kettle in the room. There's a fridge though. But didn't used it, would prefer to have access to boiling water to make coffee.

Went to the venue to see the Paul Kidney Experience. Great show, by the way. Had dinner at the pub, a delicious kangaroo salad, and a decent selection of beers. And the stage was nice, plenty of space and a good sound engineer.

Very convenient, when you're seeing a show at Her Majesty's Theatre.

I booked our meal, but the person who took my phone booking, did not input the info to the hotels computer so when we arrived, the things I had been promised by the morning staff member, (eg a table to eat at) were a mystery to the evening staff who were already at capacity. This was very awkward.

Can't comment on their rooms, we weren't there for accommodation.

We just ate here which was quite nice however don't site by the door when it's cold it was constantly opened and closed all night. The bathroom was a nice touch having heating.

Have had ok experiences in their balcony rooms during the week in the past, but only the budget single room was available this weekend. Most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, no visible power points in the room to charge anything, and bands playing downstairs til 11pm. Absolutely do not recommend.

There's very few distinctions (for me) between a good pub and a great one, but the Metro is able to flex it's location, prices and options to be considered great

Love coming here after a week of work to have a few drinks with work colleagues and discuss the weekend at hand. The environment is accommodating and the staff are equally friendly
The food is standard pub food, but always delivers on flavour and promptness

Great place. Beer is cold. Staff good. Place is good. Photos don't show the entire establishment, but there's a big chicken parmy eating area, a place where bands play, few pokies etc.

Excellent pub vibes is that's something you're interested in mate. Directly across from the central markets in Adelaide. When you get lunch at the markets you might find the metro calling you....saying 'comon mate.... quick guiness won't do ya any harm'...

AC/DC pinball machine. Good beers on tap selection. Often a wood fire going when it's cold. Rock and roll, over and out.

Went here for an event of a local band. The outdoor area isn't huge but acceptable. Rather quiet given a Friday night but otherwise fairly standard for a city pub.

The fan didn't work, the bathrooms and showers are shared between all the visitors of the hotel (keep in mind they do not mention this on their ad or their website). If they had mentioned the shared bathrooms and the conditions of their rooms before, I would never have booked it.

If you are in Adelaide near the Central Market or are attending a show at Her Majesty's theatre next door this is the place to go.
The Metro has many rooms for dining/drinks and an atrium to enjoy in the warmer months. Pre-booking a meal before a show is recommended as the restaurant gets very busy on those nights. The menu is varied and are good value for money. The staff are very helpful and friendly. This venue is a modern pub which retains its many features and is a nice surprise near the centre of the city. Do try it

My daughter booked the room but didnt realise there wasnt any airconditioner the room was small no ability to make coffee,more like a backpackers accomadation.Staff were welcoming and friendly

the balcony room ok but would at least expect tea/coffee making available or at least cold water in the fridge, but wait it gets worse never book room 12 with no tv, no free wifi, prisoners have it better in jail and we pay for them. Probably acceptable when it was built but in this day and age it does not pass the pub test.

Its just a awsome place and the service was out standing,i went to have a quiet drink and then heard the band and a few hours later ..it was home time.

Walked past and decided to try the Monday special - $10 beef rissoles! Definitely worth the price and good portion size. Guy working at the bar was friendly and welcoming too.

Amazing staff, stayed overnight and was an awesome experience. Staff were super accommodating and kind. Highly recommend for food, drinks or accomodation.

This is probably the best proper pub left in the CBD. The staff are awesome. It caters for all ages and tastes, it's not gentrified but it's not bogan either. Great music, live bands, great beers on tap and good food that is affordable.

This is my favourite pub in Adelaide! Its cosy, its warm and not to mention the staff.... Jamilla mate goes above and beyond to give the best customer service I've ever come across. I wouldn't choose anywhere else to spend an evening with your friends and enjoy a cheeky Guinness after a long day. 10/10!

Excellent location and brilliant customer service. the hotel Metropolitan has a variety of different rooms of accommodation for all needs and types at a very good reasonable price. There is a bistro downstairs; if food is second-to-none in terms of both quality and price. Should you be coming to Adelaide would strongly suggest you stay at the Metropolitan.

Great cosy bar and an adventure to go find the bathrooms! What more could you want?? Jamilla was so helpful and welcoming. Real customer service like this is hard to find. I will be back to the metropolitan more often!

Very friendly and helpful staff, bedroom could have been a bit more welcoming -but mainly my fault for not checking out the facilities. Was handy location .They should update it and have at least a light switch and bedside table.

Upstairs reminded me of a crack house out of a movie do not recommend staying over night

Nice old pub with friendly staff, we stayed for the night on new year's eve. Basic accommodation with shared toilet and shower which were clean. No aircon and it was hot and stuffy but there was a fan so that helped. It was actually really quite and we didn't hear or see any other guests. Pub located in the quite part of Adelaide.

We wanted somewhere cheap to stay whilst we met our son at the finish line for the solar challenge race.nThe room was clean and functional and the whole place is scrupulously clean.nThe staff did everything they could to make our stay pleasant they were friendly and helpful and frequently asked if they could do anything more for us.nThe beds are comfortable and clean.nThe food was excellent and the cook really knew how to cook a blue steak.nI highly recommend this place if you want somewhere clean, safe and comfortable in the center of town at a reasonable price.
