What a find this place was, was in Adelaide for a week ate here 5 times burger, pizza, schnitzels curries they do it all and at a very good price with plenty of it. A good selection of beers, friendly staff, good value specials and if you are lucky maybe a snack or too.

The food here is always delicious. This is the 4th time coming here and the food is just as amazing as the first time. We had the Eye Fillet 300g cooked rare and medium rare, and it was really delicious. The steak was incredibly tender and hot inside despite being rare. The chips were crisp and well seasoned, and the gravy was really nice too. Service was fantastic. Serving sizes were generous. Will definitely continue to come back here for the best steak and service in Adelaide.

Steak, prawns and the jus were to die for. Great value for what you get. If I lived in Adelaide it'd be a firm contender for my local. Friendly staff to boot. Delicious.

Haven't been there for about 15 years the food is still as good as it was way back then. Really enjoyable meal and the service was excellent. We will be going back in the near future. Cheers Ian and Jo

One of the best hotels in Adelaide. It's was quiet the night I was there but the restaurant was pretty busy. The staff were friendly and up for a bit of small talk. Food was awesome and beer is cold.

Ordered T-Bone steak chips and salad waited over an hour for it. Other people got served before me who came and ordered after me. The tbone was rare when I ordered medium. I don't usually like complaining but wasn't happy wasn't impressed when you pay good money to go out and have a nice meal with family visiting! Very unpleasant experience. Had to get the tbone cooked again the chef said what do you want us to do if you want a new one you'll be waiting a lot longer. Very rude. Garvey was watery and tasteless. Wouldn't recommend to my dog.
Chef cooked the same tea one that I already cut which is against the law to do. What topped it off they sent a big guy out who may have looked intimidating to others out to give this meal. Overloaded the plate with chips and lettuce tomato wasn't fresh plus then over cooked the meat plus never got mushroom Garvey like I asked for. Not very nice experience.

There are few pubs around the area but this one has a family relax vibe to it. Looks like everyone knows the name of the bartender/owner/manager. We had Wednesday special steak. It was pretty good and affordable. A good selection of beers and cider from the taps.

A pub with atmosphere, good food and affordable drinks. Great Sunday night tea. Cheese plate and cheese cake desserts awesome

Traditional, fresh & high quality meals at a reasonable price. My main dish was even served with a dinner roll ....I have not seen them for years. The Rump was excellent with crisp vegetables

The absolute most friendly staff. The bloke with the glasses was so kind and accommodating. Definitely couldn't complain about the food, it was beautifully cooked and came out quick.

Came here for lunch and when we walked in we thought Oh No what a mistake, so outdated. However, we were so pleasantly surprised the staff were wonderful and friendly. We had the Surf and Turf which was on special for $19.90 and half dozen fresh oysters. The steak was cooked to perfection with perfectly cooked crunchy chips. The oysters were so fresh my partner wanted to order another 6. The prices here are incredible and the food that we had delicious. Price list for their wines were incredibly affordable. This will definitely be one place we will come back to.

Delicious steak!!! I had the scotch fillet medium rare and it was cooked perfectly! I will definitely return for the amazing food and the terrific service. Admittedly the veggies were basic but the chips were crispy & delicious. At $34 for a perfect 300gm steak it's the ideal company for a lonely traveller. Thank you 😊

Great food, their burgers are very yummy. They also have a rump steak special on Wednesday for $15. Great value!! Loved their elephants in the front entrance. So cute!

Haven't eaten here before, used to go to the drive through when we were teenagers as no-one else was open! We had the Beef and Reef, Steak was cooked to perfection! Nice atmosphere too. Great service from a girl who had a bubbly personality. Will be back.

Atmosphere was nice, very lively, everything about the place screamed elephant like the name and very rustic vibes which I'm happy with. The service was absolutely fantastic, I want to point out a worker called Louise who was so bubbly and just down right chatty which is a pleasant plus for me as most staff just want to get on with their day.
The food was all very well done and just absolute spot on with the amount of seasonings, most of the time Oysters are very meh for me but these killpatrick ones are to die for, just the right amount of everything. We all had Steak expect my partner who had Squid which was perfectly cooked and crispy. Filet Mignon was what three of us had which turned out all perfectly medium rare with very heavy sides and gravy ( i.e a lot of it)
Everything came out beautifully as well as reasonably timed, we got free bread for our table. 10/10 recommend especially for my first time. My partner who doesn't like oysters would recommend their killpatrick oysters.

The menu is well balanced, but I would go with the steaks, well seasoned and well cooked.
Seafood platter looked good as well.
We were a 14 +kids group and had great service, so give it a go if you want a friendly dining experience.

Reliable & reasonably priced, with great customer service. It doesn't have the fanciest interior, but always guaranteed a good feed. And was very impressed with the $10 kids menu (as pictured)

All so a good place to finish the working week with good selection of pub classics, value for money. Our Adelaide cbd Engineering department team enjoy it very much and loved the size of the meals, much better then accepteding Genial Managers high tea on offer, Engineering department went to Elephant and Castle hotel including our Chif Financial ,Controller.

Great service and the steaks were unbelievable. Cooked to perfection and so tender. Highly recommend it.

We went there for lunch. I had the kangaroo, and it was nicely cooked (medium rare) and was delicious. The rest of the meals were also delicious! Recommend that you try it!

Went for schnitzel Thursday, I have had a lot of schnitzel in my time and the one they serve here is one of the best, and you can't beat that price of $13:50 for an entire meal. The staff was friendly and the meal came out at the perfect time. Highly recommended.

Family of 4 on holidays in Adelaide, we went to Elephant & Castle 3 nights in a row for dinner, as it is just down the street to our accommodation.
Absolutely loved the prices and the quality of the food, we have no complaints!
We had seafood for 2 on Tuesday, steak night on Wednesday and schnitzel night on Thursday!

My usual weekly haunt is a very underrated hotel. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Well worth the visit

Good find this one. Décor is almost country pub style, chairs are comfy and tables are clean.
Take your apatite with you, you''ll need it, the servings are large, the roast is great value at $16 and the surf-n-turf at $18,50 was also good value for a 250g tasty steak, chips, roast veg, 3 prawns and 2 calamari with home made sauce.
Did not have to wait long and service was good. Parking out back in well lit area, street parking also avail.

When in Adelaide these days, a frequent lunch or dinner choice is the Elephant and Castle Hotel. A bistro which has served excellent steaks since 1973/4. If you enjoy being a carnivore this is one place you ought to reward yourself by trying. Lovely old fashioned Adelaide pub. Excellent Service and prices that won't bust the bank.

Great food and very attentive staff! Oysters Kilpatrick were very fresh and delicious. Scotch fillet steak cooked perfectly. Beef schnitzel was tasty but breadcrumbs were a bit too thick for my liking but they had Worcestershire sauce which is a perfect match for any schnitzel. Veggie and salad bar had a good variety too! We'll be going back soon :)

Pretty good place for a quick lunch. Meals were delivered promptly, and certainly no complaints from the table. Menu range was good and would cater for most people. Prices were very reasonable and quality was good. Car Parking as you would expect for City location is a premium. And, of course the elephants were well behaved :)

Friendly staffs, very good food, salad was yummy. I had a great night here.
