Customer Review

We really enjoyed this hotel. We have a 6 and 3 year old and booked a room with two large, comfortable beds. Excellent price for the location, you can walk everywhere! Swimming pool/spa was a hit and there's a large kids room too, which was handy. Our room was very quiet & we could not hear the city at all in the morning. Large, clean bathroom. The happy hour drinks and pizzas were awesome too. We'll be back! Lots of other families there too.

Front service was very friendly and helpful. As we had stayed there previously we were upgrade to the 5th floor. Very spacious room, the room was nice and warm as they had put the ac on for us and the bed was like 2 doubles together and bathroom was very nice and big. The only thing that was a bit off putting were the curtains that were in need of a good wash. We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday night this month of June.

Front Office Staff were EXTREMELY helpful in accomodating me when I was cold, providing me with a heater and blanket.

And when the first heater stopped working the lovely gentleman searched high and low for another one for me.

It was very appreciated.

Room was clean and tidy, bed was comfy.

Stayed 1 night, staff friendly and foyer clean and nice. I had a room on the 3rd floor. Walking to my room you have all the structure pillions in the way which you had to manoeuvre around which was challenging having 2 suitcases on wheels. Once arrived at the 3rd floor as the lift doors opened there was an unpleasant odour which was off putting. Lucky I was only there for 1 night. The room was suitable for my stay though I would never use this hotel again.

Stayed here on my first ever adelaide trip. I'm so happy I chose this hotel, its well located with easy access to public transport. Staff are professional and welcoming.. I received a personal note in my room with complementary chocolate and bottled water. It was a lovely gesture. Rooms are spacious and clean. I will definitely go back here next time I'm in Adelaide.

It is in a good location and I only needed it for sleeping and storing my stuff while I was there for four nights. It had a window that was frosted out so no view, no air conditioning or heating and the bed hurt my back (possibly my own personal problem), and I could hear every single noise that was happening around me, but location was my main objective. Good if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in your hotel.

Look we got what we paid for. I've never been in a hotel room where I cannot control the temperature. Some airflow would have been nice.
The room was tidy but dusty and played with my allergies.
But all in all a great location especially if you want to enjoy the nightlife.

The location is very nice but the A/C in the room depends on the central system. It's very hot and all we had only pedestal fan! The room had old smell. Not valuable for stay.

Dark, dingy former COVID quarantine hotel that honestly felt a little unsafe. Very dark poorly lit corridors, dark room...the entire hotel is in need of a serious renovation. Seriously considered forfeiting my money and paying again to stay elsewhere.

What highlighted the experience were two interactions with staff. 1. I couldn't get my TV to turn on and I was told it was because "all TVs in Adelaide are down" (the TV in the pub next door worked fine). 2. Champed by the man at reception in the morning with a "hey bud".

I rarely leave a bad review but in this case, book elsewhere.

My friend and I shared a twin room at Grossvenor Hotel this week when we attended a ACM conference in Adelaide.
We were there for 3 nights.
The room was hot and stuffy. The air con did not work .We used the fan provided all night with minimal relief.
The lighting in the room was poor too.
The best part of this Hotel is its location and the friendly service at reception.
We would not use this facility again.

I talked to hotel reception about needing to cancel a booking for 1 night stay, 5 days ahead of time, due to having to attend my Uncles funeral, in another state. Staff on reception thought it would be OK but I was asked to email reservation manager. After a few comms was told it was not possible. I would have been in Adelaide for a work event and I also work for a charity so I would never consider staying there ever again and cannot believe they have been so ruthless.

My wife, M.I.L. & I stayed here on 8,9&10 of September 2023. Booking was made directly with Hotel by phone & no problems at all. Arrived at 3pm on the 8/09/23 & check in was very smooth. If in a vehicle ( as we where) you can park at front of hotel before going into the carpark. As requested, the disabled parking area was held in parking. We stayed in Room #506 which is the disabled access room. Ample room in the bathroom & two queen size beds in the room as well. Fridge works ok & the climate control is central so not controlled in the room. Beds were comfortable.
The hotel is less than 3 minutes walk from the Railway Station Tram stop. This can take you to Rundle Mall or further. Straight across from the Casino & the location in the CBD is awesome. A short walk to Hindley st or Adelaide Oval.

I would say a very good hotel, very good location, well behaved staff, rooms are clean, Toilet and carpet are well maintained. Very quick check in and check out process. The front desk staff and manager are very helpful and smart. Opposite to Adelaide Railway station, walking distance from University of Adelaide. Sea Link busk pick up and drop for Kangaroo Island.

The Accor website for this hotel describes it as an "economy" hotel, which is absolutely spot on given the age of the building. The service and location cannot be faulted. However, there are aspects still within the business' control that could be addressed, such as build up of dust in the corners of the room, multiple stains in the old carpet and a hair dryer in the bathroom that has rusty components and doesn't get hot on the highest setting (I wonder how old it was and how it passed a tag and test?). The sounds from the other hotel rooms plumbing and talk in the hallways also filters through but there probably isn't much the hotel can do about that without significant costs. Looking at all the responses on here it sounds like it will be redeveloped or demolished which is well due.
Overall it was okay value for money and for the one night stay.

Great location. Close to bus stops and train stations. Convinience store is also just steps away. The hospitality of the staff are good and very informative. However, the room is very old and dark, just like in the picture. The room is also pretty cold when I visit in November. They also had vending machines inside the hotel.

Looks good on the outside and that's where it ends. Hotel halls and Room smell musty the carpets are disgusting throughout I feel like I need a tetanus shot staying here. Window faces a multi story carpark so lots of noise. Had to walk through a maze of corridors to find my room. No aircon in room found a pedal stool fan that was dirty dusty and falling apart so had to repair it myself to use it.

Was a bit concerned when I saw a number of poor ratings but this didn't reflect my experience at all. Staff were always extremely courteous and prompt. Room was fine considering half the price of the motel's surrounding it. I'd certainly stay again .

Rooms - dusty smell and carpets need cleaning around the edges.
Service - check out was very good.
Location - arrival area restricted if the first car pulls up short, leaving the next car blocking traffic lane

Excellent location
Outdated lobby.
Only one lift is operational due to supplies.

The rooms are dark and need a serious upgrade and modernisation.

For the price there are alot better options.

The room seems more like a highway motel.

Pillows were not comfortable.
I could not see any temperature controls in the room, I could be mistaken but based on other reviews, apparently not.

Staff were friendly.
Room was clean

I'd probably rate this at 3 1/2 stars. First the bad - The TV badly needs replacing. It is very old and the picture is terrible. I wanted to watch the Australian Open Men's Final but I could hardly see the ball. This is quite an old hotel - the room was dark with heavy curtains over the old windows which had no view. You can't open a window and get fresh air. Apart from that the bed was comfortable, good shower and other basic amenities are there.
The Good: Great location. Pub next door had good meals and a large TV with Foxtel (I watched the tennis there). It's in the heart of the CBD so walking distance to all the shops etc. 24 Hour reception is a positive. Good value for money considering the location. I might stay here again if they replaced the TV.

It was a pleasant night outside but hot in our room, the air conditioning is not up to standard. The motel says it is a budget motel, $400 for a room. It's dirty, cleaning would go a long way. The breakfast, where they offer you a bag of cereals, bread, paper cutlery a bowls, tell you to toast your bread and take it to your room, after waiting for the one working lift. Have seen it wasn't working a month ago, the motel knows the problems but chooses to fobb them off. I will never stay here with its current management, and as a tour operator, could never use them as a providers.

Great location. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I suspect that the musty smell in the corridors is due to the age of the building, and I think some fresh air flow would help fix this issue. I struggled with the central climate control of this hotel, I like to control my room's temperature luckily our window opened a little to give us some fresh air. The room was very clean. Shower recess is huge, pressure from shower was great. Did miss not having any info folders, local tourist attraction brochures etc like other hotels. No big issues here for us, some minor renovations would improve the hotel overall. I would stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay there. The breakfast could have some protein source, coffee was good. The room is comfortable, but it got a bit warm. The staff are extremely accommodating and kind.

The photos of the rooms on the website is NO WHERE near what you get. Walking to the room and the actual room I stayed in was like I was at a cheap and dirty backpacker hotel. Stains all over the cupboards, carpets all dirty and stained, awful smell.

HOWEVER, I give the staff 5 stars for their service and accommodating my booking very last minute. They provided excellent service and they were great!

Convenient location, easy to walk or drive from this spot. I like fresh air though, and I like to sleep in a cool room. This hotel has 'central' air, so the only control we had in our room was whether we wanted the vents on or off; we had zero control over the actual temperature. The central air was set to a warm temperature which made our room stifling hot, so luckily we were able to get a window open (although it liked to slam shut so we had to prop it open with a bin).
Hopefully the people who stayed in the room before us don't miss the long dark hairs they left behind on the pillows and in the shower . . .
Very basic hotel, serves it's purpose, an adequate spot to rest overnight. View from the window included!

I sent the following email to the hotel four months ago and have had no reply.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Grosvenor and I have to write to mention several issues we encountered.

We stayed in rood 243 right next to the laundry. We didn't think this was an issue until people kept using the laundry at all hours - one night it was 3 AM and my partner had to get up and turn the power off. She was kept awake three other nights as well by the machines being used well after the posted opening times. I finally spoke to the duty manager and that night the door was locked. Which created another problem - access to water. The sink in the room won't allow you to fill a reusable bottle or the kettle so you have to use the water from the laundry - which is fine until the door is locked.

I had no trouble sleeping as I am hearing impaired, which is another problem. The remote control from the TV does not allow for the use of captions. I asked at the front desk and the helpful man called the maintenance team who said there was not a remote available to turn captions on. This is unacceptable and is an accessibility issue.

The design of the shower in the room is terrible. Water pours out under the glass door every time you use it and the shower head can't be adjusted to alleviate the problem.

The position of the fridge is a concern - the cupboard it is in and the drawer above it gets very hot and you cannot safely store anything in it. There is also a lack of storage in the room for clothes.

The carpet in the halls and our room are disgusting and heavily stained.

And finally, our room was not made up on the day before we left despite the hang tag being placed on the door knob saying please make up the room.

Overall, a very disappointing visit especially as it was the first time my partner and I have travelled together.

For how much you pay there's really no other better or cost effective places to stay at in ADL. The hotel looks dated because it is. The standard room looks a bit old school on design but at least it's warm and comfortable in winter no matter where you are at inside the room. The bathroom is slightly small but clean. Great location. Just the breakfast feels like going on a camping trip.

The room was very stuffy & warm, no air available (window or air con). The staff were amazing! Don't get a room by the walkway/road, VERY noisy!! Nice motel, thank you for your hospitality, staff went above & beyond :)

The staff at the Grosvenor go out of their way to assist you. They are always so pleasant, looking for extra ways to make your stay & day better. The position of this hotel is excellent, it is close to everything. The building is older, however the rooms are spotless, the corridors are a little tight in some places. Breakfast is being offered in take away packs due to Covid. I would suggest skipping the Breakfast option as there are cafe's very close by where you can pick up a reasonably priced Breakfast.

Stayed for two days. Staff very helpful. The whole place could do with an upgrade. Probably value for money with the inclusion of breakfast & location & undercover parking.

Comfortable rooms, rather tired reception and public areas but convenient location. Room was clean and comfortable and staff extremely helpful. I had an internal room with frosted windows and noisy pigeons outside but still good value for money

Located beautifully across from the convention centre.
Rooms were nice enough but showing their age. I think that the local Pigeons enjoyed my room as well as unfortunately a family of them had set up on my window sill and did not shut up.

Great value mid range hotel in an Amazing location, nice clean rooms, nice friendly staff. I'm very pleased with the choice to stay here. The rooms seem to have very good airflow.
