Have driven past this 'local' pub many times & was keen to try it out.. We were pleasantly surprised! Have had some terrible pub meals in the past but this one was excellent! Very relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and a nice outdoor area for warm nights. Not one of these pretentious overpriced pubs.. Will now definitely be our local! Highly recommend the salt & pepper squid! Keep up the good work! ⭐️

Fabulous food at a good price, friendly staff and a terrific but high quality short selection of wines. We meet there for a small (10 people) club and it is perfect for us.

Magnificent pub! Never had a bad meal and the bar staff are the best. Always welcoming even with difficult customers.

Casual lunch at the Arab Steed did not disappoint. In the south of the city with all the pub classics. Got a chicken parmy with chips and salad.

It was a generous serving, and the schnitzel wasn't too dry. Chips are crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle.

Service was efficient and considering it was peak lunch time on a Friday I was impressed! No complaints from me and would return

Great spot to socialise, friendly staff. Food F@C was excellent Lambs fry, average. All in all we had a nice time. Would definitely recommend.

Salt n pepper squid was great.
Lambs fry was cooked standard albeit request for well done. Ok but wished it a bit charred to bring out the flavour of the lamb's fry

What we can agree were the best were the beer and stout.

My car was stolen by regulars who attend this place.
Regular clientele are taking advantage of homeless people across the street who attend the Hutt street centre for example like Stealing cars, money and possessions etc
These people who stole my car then spread false rumours to staff and other regular clientele then all of them ganged up on and intimidated, made fun of, stalked and concocted false complaints about the homeless to the Hutt street centre, convinced the staff there to move them on so evidence of criminal activity would disappear.

Really nice hotel. Spacious and really clean. Meals were fantastic and good price as well. Would definitely go back.

We had a Roast of the day and Salt Pepper squid.
Roast beef: There 2 sizes on offer
I opted for the smaller size but was a bit disappointed with the portion of beef served. I would say it's less than 100g. Were aware price on everything has gone up but at the end of the it's only roast of the day. Not something you need cook on the spot.
Slat pepper squid: The serve was rather big for a standard. Cannot fault the portion given. However the it fall short on the coating/crumb on the squid which was very doughy and chewy (no photos).
What we can agree were the best were the beer and stout.

A fabulous pub serving top quality food. I had seafood rissotto which was superbly presented .Plus the staff are friendly and helpful . Street entertainment on Saturday night was a delight when a Fire Dancer performed .

Whilst pub crawling on a Sunday, the Steed was one of the busier pubs with a great, buzzing atmosphere. We enjoyed a couple of beers and a half dozen Kilpatrick oysters which were delicious. Friendly service and great afternoon

Excellent value meals, we had the daily roast lamb, very good but get in early. This is a very popular place, at 6.30pm we got a table and quick service. By 7pm it was packed and rocking. We will be back.

atmosphere here was okay, aside from the screaming children behind us which we were seated quite close to. the schnitzels were a great serving size but the gravy/sauce was unusually bland, and it was poured over the schnitzel so it kinda made everything taste like nothing? chips were great though. and i adored the affogato. i will try a different sauce next time perhaps.

The renovations look amazing not exactly sure when they were done but they were a success! Drinks were a good price.The food was also good huge serving size. The dining room was how ever a little loud but that's my issue. I'm going back again.

Great city pub that continues to thrive and survive. Top location at southern end of Hutt st. Dining room and bar are very nicely presented and the meals are very good and reasonably priced. You can usually score a car park nearby. Give it a try.

Food excellent. We put orders in for table of 9 and all food came out of kitchen literally within 10 mins. Roast of the day moist, tender. Sticky date pudding generous serve with good quality ice cream. Friendly service by the girls. Arab Steed 10/10. Would recommend .
