Western Australia is different from the other states: gaming machines (pokies) are not permitted in pubs, clubs or hotels. Crown Perth in Burswood is the only venue in the state licensed to operate them.
Crown Perth is on Great Eastern Highway in Burswood, a few minutes from the Perth CBD. The complex also has restaurants, bars and hotels. Crown Perth says it has over 2,000 electronic games and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, apart from three days a year (Christmas Day, Good Friday and ANZAC Day, when it closes for part of the day). Since 1 December 2025, players using the machines need a personalised membership card, under a WA Government requirement.
Western Australia has not licensed gaming machines outside its casino. The rules are set by the WA Government, so for the current position see the WA Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
Crown Perth is accessible by train on the Armadale/Thornlie line (Burswood station), by taxi or rideshare from the CBD (around 5-10 minutes), or on foot across the Matagarup Bridge from East Perth.
