Nice establishment but extremely over priced! $23 for two beers, $22 for some chips cheese and gravy. Came for dinner but left after the two beers, its just too expensive for essentially a pub feed!

The steaks are definitely not worth the price. I got one rare and it had raw bits so I got one medium rare and it had dry overcooked bits. The gluten free bun on the grilled chicken burger was surprisingly decent, but I don't think the chips are gf. Staff were friendly.

Had dinner here this evening and it was excellent! Really nice hotel, large dining area with indoor & outdoor seating, nice decor. Staff are pleasant and very efficient. My husband had Caesar Salad with Chicken and I had Ranch Salad, really fresh, tasty and healthy. Good serving sizes and they came out quickly - very impressed! Busy for a Wednesday night, recommend booking a table.

Stopped for lunch. Good pub food. Reasonable prices. Quick service and gave us a take away container for the food we couldn't eat because we were full.

Went there for food. They had pie of the day, and it massive. It was steak and diana pie. Very nice customer services. Was the last group to leave to place, and they will still be happy to service us. I know they wanted to clean up and go home, too, so we ate fast and left

This place is the best hot wings in town.

Always had a good time in the bar side. They did a great job at a couple of events I've been there for.

But the wings. If they change the wings I'll stop going there out of spite.

Had an amazing "21st birthday" lunch celebration [for a once every four years 29 February birthday] with family and friends. Food and drinks were great, as usual for the Shamrock. All the staff were amazing with helping setup table decorations, balloons and bringing out a 21st birthday cake with candles for dessert.
The restaurant managers and staff went above and beyond to make it a special event, with superior customer service that is a real hallmark of the Shamrock Hotel in all areas. Many thanks!!

Took family to the Shamrock for a lovely dinner, before flying back to Melbourne. Delicious! Table was set out lovely and the ambience was great, not too noisy.
Food was outstanding. Quality meat, fresh vegetables (not frozen) and just caught seafood. The meals were generous portions, all but one finished their entire meal.
Presentation showed the kitchen cared and took pride in what they served their clientele.
Had many choices- Specials Board, Large or Smaller portions and all priced accordingly. Chef's,
Table and Food Servery staff very efficient. The plates removed seamlessly and we were asked if we were happy with our meals.
Only letdown... drink service. Not enough bar staff for the people dining. When served though, staff member was polite, offered choice, advice and I appreciated the tray to carry the tables drinks safely. Will be back to eat at the Shamrock when we come home to Mackay throughout the year.

New to Mackay. Have eaten here twice. 1st time the food wasn't very good, but everyone deserves a 2nd chance, right?. Nope, not this place. 2nd time food was much worse and smaller servings, but prices remain the same. Seafood medley yuck. Batter too thick, peeled it off and attempted to eat the fish - disgusting. Calamari beyond tough. 2nd time even the bar staff ignored me. Too busy chatting to each other. Won't be back, go to the Metropolitan instead, great food and good service.

The staff were attentive. The $30 sirloin was barely bigger than a sizzle steak and not even plumped out with a decent salad. The kitchen is letting you down.

First time to this hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Great meal in the bistro. Reasonably priced. Gluten free lemon pepper calamari was delicious & tender. Nice salad with plenty of chips. Definitely recommend.

Our meal was very ordinary. Seafood basket was not very nice. Chicken snitchels were overcooked, salad dressing was awful.

We stayed overnight on the way through Mackay, what a great place to stay. The rooms were so good with laundry facilities, kitchenette, and a continental breakfast included, spotless rooms, hugh thank you to housekeeping staff, they do a wonderful job. Meals in the hotel lounge were good and were enjoyable. Will definitely stay again if needing a room on Mackay. Tip.. book accommodation in advance as they book out quickly

Disappointing. Waited 55 minutes for our meal despite being there before the rush. Some of our meals were so cold the gravy had congealed. One of our meals was incorrect and the 200 g sirloin was definitely not 200g. More like 150g, overcooked and cold. I understand businesses are short-staffed sometimes but sorry but we won't be back.

Disgustingly rude staff. Glad we didn't waste our money there. We went to the Boomerang Restaurant down the road and the staff there are wonderful and food is amazing. Don't waste your time here, they don't care about costumers or the business.

Great location next to the pool and the pub. Our request for adjoining rooms was granted. Only problem was the sliding back door on one room wouldn't lock. Would stay again.

The food came out too late. Instant potato was slapped on the plate vegetables cold the rump steak was sliced too thin was not well done and very bloody. The salad was half a place of lettuce and 2 small pieces of cucumber and half a Cherry tomato. Poor service then we were asked to pay for the tomato sauce. We showed staff the meat but nothing was done very upset customer

We were delighted with our room exactly as the photos. Large, clean rooms included breakfast, comfortable bed, patio AND a washing machine, dryer and washing powder in the room.. all for a most reasonable price!! $130
We were booked for 1 night but stayed for 2. As the Hotel is on the premises, we decided to eat there and found the service great and food delicious. A very good experience all round.

Table and reserved signs had different numbers which caused a disruption to table locations. 1 poor guy was walking around looking for table numbers with meals. Ordered seafood basket which was way over cooked with the smallest prawns and tasted like store bought fish. Most of it was way over crumbed and very oily. The chips were way over cooked and most weren't edible. The squid was cooked well. Need more pride in your dishes. The waiters/ waitresses were good. But when mentioned the table numbers were out of order the waitress wasn't concerned. If this was amended wait staff would have found tables easier and would have caused such an upheaval to distribution of meals. Atmosphere was good.

Friends stayed in accommodation, we joined them with others in the bistro.
We ordered at 7 30, which was fine..
1st meal came 740, ..another 2 at 7 50,
I went and asked where the other 5 meals were..at 8 15?...
On saying ..at the table . Meals are cold and very so late.. Our Guest got escorted out by security ..then the rest of us was told to leave them premises... Asked security who the manager was... I was told don't have one ..
An interesting evening to say...we all of 60 years old..." Not intrested in bringing back the biff."
The happiest staff there was the guy in the bar who was leaving that night...

Was a very long wait for food but food was great. My issue was that as the waitresses brought out the meals they stood right by my sleeping baby in capsule if they had dropped plates would have landed on my baby. They need to be mindful of their surroundings. I did ask one of them to move away from my baby, but seriously not even the children in that area were silly enough to go near sleeping baby?

I would eat there again

AND STALL BE GOING THERE FOR ANOTHER MEAL BEFORE LEAVING MSCKAY.

Really enjoyed dining here, lovely ambience, delicious food. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection and just the right texture. Flavour was so delicious. Would have enjoyed even more if there were more green vegetables. Would not hesitate to return for more, especially the amazing lamb shank 😊

We were there in a group on Saturday night. Food was good, but we were served by a blonde woman who took our orders. She spoke way too fast for my father to understand what she was saying. She responded to him in an extremely rude and degrading way, and she should not he in the hospitality industry.

Meals were good but not excellent. The steak had alot of fat through it. Everything else was good.

Food looked good, but... Garlic bread was cold on bottom. Vegetables were all cold and very undercooked. So I nicely asked for hot cooked veggies. Replaced quickly with hot but still very undercooked. Comfortable venue, quick service although crowded. But the bottom line is that I was disappointed in the food.

Beer was nice and cold. Crumbed steak for the meal was pretty good too.

Friendly staff fantastic food. Great service and housekeeping.

I gave this place 5 stars before I even made it through the front door. The toilet signs are above usual standards. I know this because I'm a signwriter. At the door, you sign in. This was the easiest sign in I've encountered yet. Scan and then hit "Submit." Beautiful garden in enter this wonderland where there is a feast of embellishments. Then you encounter the staff who are sickeningly happy with looks exceeding the average. If you can't tell already.... I love this place so much

Its a good pub.Great tab.Nice staff.Crumbed steak was a dried out piece of crumbed beef jerky that tasted like it had been reheated about ten times.Everyone elses meals out of a group of eight were fine.

They've done a great job with this place. Renovated nicely and now a big pub with everything.you need. Good service as well

The room I stayed in was in need off a good clean , stains on the carpet air con filter was black and the room needed a good vacuum. On a good note there was coffee milk and basic amenities for all your needs .Staff are very friendly and helpful just house keeping need some help.

Great place for an overnight stay on our way to Cairns. Perfectly positioned just of A1. Lovely room with patio overlooking lanscaped garden and great pool. Through the pool was the restaurant of the bar/hotel next door. Continental b/fast was included in our stay so great for an early start. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent and many good price options. We will stay here again and highly recommend.
