Play Pokies at Shamrock Hotel in Mackay

Rooms are getting a bit old and tired, smelt very damp and mouldy. Foods gone downhill with half the menu unavailable and having to be seated first then get back up and order from the bar is a bit disjointed. Good location for a stop over but don\'t expect to get a decent sleep it\'s very noisy.

shamrock is convenient because it\'s on the hotel strip otherwise you wouldn\'t eat there had a pie and smoked platter tonight the beef cheek pie was bland seemed like a frozen pie ( 4n20 pie would of been better) and packet mash potato, the smoked platter was disappointing at best the sausage wasn\'t smoked, the wings were good. the brisket sucked, the corn ribs were tragic and the slaw tasted off but didn\'t look it we ordered another beer just to get the taste of dinner out of our mouths . sad when the soft limp chips are the best thing on the plate. chef should find a new trade. shamefully maccas would be a better choice

Disappointing dining experience due to the music being far too loud in the dining room. It made conversation at the table difficult and took away from what should have been a relaxed meal.
Background music should enhance the atmosphere, not dominate it. Turning the volume down would greatly improve the dining experience and make it far more enjoyable for diners.

Nice food. Don't buy the toppers though they are wayyyyy overpriced for what you get. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Place looks good. Prices other than the toppers are really reasonable.

Cheese and bacon garlic bread was pretty good, the wait staff were awesome and the bar girls too, unfortunately, the kids carbonara was bland, I just figured they were busy and forgot to season, then the steaks came out, I was willing to overlook cold and bland veggies but where they ruined it was with steak, mine was supposed to be rare it was well done, it\'s not hard to cook a steak properly the squid was the only thing in the plate cooked and seasoned properly, hell with the exception of the garlic bread it was the only thing on the table that was cooked properly, the chips were decent though and there wasn\'t enough sauce.
The highlight was by far and away the waiters and bar staff( they should probably get a pay rise) overall the place itself is pretty good the food not so much and like I said waiters and bar staff are awesome
