Customer Review

Very nice place, great value for the price. The only thing is that they make you go to check in somewhere else not that far tho and also there's no room service. You gotta call them to change the towels and give you more shampoo or soap. But they are very attentive and send you more promptly

Perfect size for what we needed (as we were planning to go out and not spend heaps of time in the room, except for one day staying in the room to recover from travelling to the hotel by car). The cleaners were on top of everything, ensuring the beds and bathrooms were tidy. The room was affordable, and the beds were very similar to the ones we had at home, so we didn't have much trouble getting comfortable.

The painting on the wall was a little confusing at first, but as I read about it a bit more on your website, it made me love it heaps more. It was in a great location as it was close to many cafés and restaurants, and the Adelaide Zoo wasn't far away.

However, I think the customer service at the reception desk when we checked in could be improved as there was not a great sense of positivity nor a welcoming environment.
The hallways were sometimes a little loud throughout the day, and at night, the television could be updated as we felt restricted by the options. Otherwise, it was a good experience

I deeply regret booking. My flight was delayed and that meant I was now arriving after 10pm. When I called ahead to inform them, they told me that after 10pm the check in location is 1.5km away from the hotel! They expected me, as a tiny single woman, to walk 1.5km alone at 11pm in an unfamiliar city. This is such a huge safety risk (and how are you the only hotel in the world that hasn't figured out how a key box works?). They don't warn you anywhere on the website etc that this is the case - if they did, I would not have booked with this hotel. I had to book with another hotel that didn't risk my safety. Majestic Minima has refused to refund me. Truly appalling behaviour.

Edited to respond to management reply: they say that the alternate check in location was advertised on their website, but all their website says is "Check-in for Minima Hotel is located just 200m down the road at our sister property Majestic Old Lion Apartments between the hours of 7am - 10pm." This is a blatant lie of omission because 200m is fine to me, 1.5km is not, and I was not given the information to make an informed decision. I also did not receive a single of the supposed emails/texts/calls management claim they send; the very first I heard about this issue was when *I* called *them* to advise my arrival was delayed. It is also unreasonable to, without any advanced warning, expect guests to shell out their money to make a taxi wait for them (I highly doubt check in is 2 minutes when it took 3 tries to even get you to pick up the phone) and then drive to a second location.

Lets us book n pay online,we get to the motel n we get sent to another address to pick up key then once we get to that address we are then told we need another 100 for bond, usually those details are in the add but not so with this mob, then wen we tried to get our money bac we are told there is a cancelation fee,the add said free cancelation.i have been told about operators like this but thought i had vetted them well enough.seems not,i wouldnt recommond this chain of motels to my worse enemy.

After a day at women's and children's we were told we need to stay and come back for more tests. This hotel was close and cheap to the hospital but that's about it for the positive comments. I rang ahead and was told to park out front, collect keys and then I could park in the same location as the motel. I did as told only to find out it was 150m away, no car parking and the 2 ladies on check out had zero people personality. I was close to tears I just had to walk out and risk a fine by leaving my car on Melbourne Street, won't be rushing back here anytime soon

Good stuff first! The hotel had lovely staff who were super polite and helpful. Every interaction I had with them was stellar and communication was great. I was also able to check in early because my room was ready! And on the last day I was able to keep my bags somewhere before my flight later on.
The instructions about check in were easy enough to follow and the Minima isn't a long walk from the check in hotel.
Everything in the hotel was as clean as it could be without maintenance performed.
The staff are doing a great job with what they've got!

So: it's an affordable hotel! Which is great! This might be why:
The room was SMALL. Kinda like a half sized private hospital room set up.
The wardrobe only had 4 hangers and full length dresses can't be hung up.
The "Queen" bed was two uncomfortable stretcher beds stuck together with very rolly wheels underneath (I kept accidentally flying across the room when I sat on the bed!). The pillows weren't fantastic.
The lights weren't dimmable and they were both (there are 2 in total) very bright.
There is a small balcony which is nice.
The air conditioner worked!
The TV didn't work at first but a lovely staff member came over and figured it out for me. I don't think this was the hotel's fault: a previous guest might have messed with it.
There was noise bleeding through to my room throughout the night when there were neighbours walking through and I think someone's fan kept turning on and off throughout a couple of the nights.
Bathroom: The shower area is small and the whole bathroom needs to be regrouted (I saw a bunch of suspicious looking mould within the grouting). The shower head is difficult to manoeuvre to get a steady stream and it was hard to get the perfect temperature. I wish there was a bit more bench space above the sink. The light and fan are the one button and the loud fan stays on for what seems like 5> minutes after turning it off.

The worst bit was the key card to get into my room. The first night I tried to get back into my room and tried about 15 times before calling reception. The staff member seemed to have a trick of opening it with the card but I couldn't figure it out! I tried so many different ways of easily opening my door over my stay but each time took me at least 10 times. And each time I DID get in; it felt like a fluke! The locks absolutely need to be replaced or repaired so that people can access their rooms with one tap. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had accessibility issues.
I definitely felt quite safe because I don't think anyone else could figure out how to open the door even if they tried!

Even with saying all that, I would return if I need to stay for cheap in Adelaide again. I don't hold it against any of the staff, I just think maintenance needs to be performed by the owners and upgrading some important stuff needs to be done to make it a more pleasant experience.
I think a 3 - 3.5 star stay is what we're dealing with! I hope the owners of the hotel can take what I've written here with humility!

Very small rooms with noisy A/C. TV in room is tiny and only show low definition channels. Small ironing board and tiny desk. Lights in bathroom intermittently flash after being turned off for about 5-10 mins.

Location is handy with a number of bars and restaurants around. No on site staff... Check in is done 200m down the road at a different hotel

Very small rooms, we didn't have much space for both luggage open on the floor. Beds are comfortable though. Check in is in another hotel...
Wifi was not working at all, it was disappointing.

Beautiful, colourful and cozy! Situated in a perfect spot with plenty of walking spots for coffee, food, shoping,... missing perhaps the atmosphere of being in a Hotel, feels more like a AirBnB, but perfect for a weekend getaway.

Great experience on a budget. Clean and comfortable. Loved my signwriters room. Balcony was a nice touch as well. No issue checking in around the corner. Thanks

I really have had the worst experience checking in late at night, reception have limited hours.

The check-in process could be much easier with a smarter management..

The staff were terrible and unprofessional at helping me check in late at night..

The rooms are designed badly, small and uncomfortable.
I would never stay there again for the way I was treated and hussle I went through to check in

Cozy, clean and quiet, an amazing place to stay, coffee shop across the road is great too. Be aware parking garage is a little small for big cars. Will stay again!

Stayed here whilst in town for work. For the price this place is pretty good. Located really close to everything and short walk/scooter from the cbd. Bed was a bit hard and shower was very average but pay for what you get and this place was very reasonably priced so not complaining at all!
Would recommend if you need a place to stay on a budget!

Rooms are small but great value. Check in is around the corner not on site. Plenty of cafes and things around and not hard to walk to main part of Adelaide.
Downfall there was no WiFi and phone coverage isn't great.

Was impressed with the house keeping room service. Lovely common terrace. Room was on smaller side but it had all the essentials. Perhaps could do with some more tv options for streaming platforms. Could possibly extend pool access to share with the Majestic Lion hotel?

If you are not on a budget, you may want to book another hotel. It wasn't awful, but really not great either. We did a late check-in, which if you arrive after 10pm has to be done to another Majestic Hotel, a 20 minutes walk away from the Minima. We got there at 10.30pm only to be informed the keys were not there yet. They arrived shortly after, but if you ask customers to go 20 minutes away from their hotel to pick up the room key, it better be there on time. They didn't offer any transport option to get to the hotel despite the delay. Guessing an Uber would have been just a few dollars and a welcome gesture.

In terms of the hotel itself, everything is just ok-ish. On the plus side, you do have the usual soaps, small fridge, tea, kettle, and the room was clean. The hotel location is also pretty good, not far from the centre and city parks with a few cafes and restaurants around. The room also has a small balcony, with a view on the parking, but better than nothing.

The drawbacks: the room felt smaller than most hotel rooms in the same price range, and we didn't like the quality of the bedding, although this is often personal preference. It was a windy weekend, and the window was shaking regularly, which was a bit annoying at night. No simple instruction in the room to connect to the Wifi, you have to ask reception. Unfortunately there's also no reception at the hotel, only an intercom that connects to other Majestic hotels. Would have been great to have someone onsite, also to help with the drunken lady who was shouting and singing at 2am in the bedroom next to us. Essentially, just quite an average experience, and one that we don't feel is worth $270 for two nights.

This place reminds me of an Ibis except a better layout because the rooms have awesome balconies you can sit on and get fresh air even if the views from some aren't great. Clean and compact and generally ok value for budget accommodation in a location surrounded by reasonable restaurant/food options and good public transport. On the down side this place is really beginning to show its age and needs some investment. The air conditioner was loud, noisy and didn't cool the place down resulting in an uncomfortable and bloody hot night with not much sleep - replace or service the units.
Shower pressure is awful and head sprays everywhere making it hard to get a decent stream to wash yourself - should be a basic of a good hotel and shouldn't be too hard to fix. TVs - as old as the hotel probably, no HD channels, and the fixed angle above the beds is bloody terrible. Buy some new TVs and install them on a normal swivel bracket at eye height. Also - as many others have stated, no functioning internet making the place useless for work or study. A generous three stars for this place but I'll probably try to avoid staying here again - no easy task when there are not many accommodation options in Adelaide and prices sky high due to the city hosting tourist attracting events.

Ad said no wifi last summer. I figured it would be fixed by now. Nope. No check in service at hotel. Walked 1 block to another hotel with luggage. Staff nice but this is inconvenient. Room is very small with a miniscule counter in room. No shelves in bathroom. Bed comfortable. Room very clean. Room quiet. Cute little balcony which was nice. Location is great.

This was a very disappointing experience. As a former Adelaide local I had always heard good things about Minima and had stayed at other Majestic properties in Adelaide before however this one fell short.

Firstly the room was very small and made to feel even smaller but the full sized mural that was unlike any of the promo photos I had seen for the rooms with others being more art elements or designs in the room. Whilst a high quality mural it was a bit much for the room.

There was no room to set up the stand for luggage nor was there a bed side table on one side. It appears from the giant pile in the car park they have all been removed with no replacement sought.

The room had a patio which didn't have any coverage and despite being larger than the room was useless for a winter weekend.

The room was advertised as having a king pillow top bed, it was actually two smaller beds pushed together and certainly did not feel like there was a pillow top. There was however a very hard crack where the two met.

The bathroom was so small it was not functional (see photo) the toilet was so close to the wall and roll holder you actually couldn't sit on this toilet straight.

After booking I was advised no wifi, something I would be more understanding about if other reviews didn't indicate it's been broken for months now. Room booking also spoke of premium channels like foxtel but these were not working.

The hallway had water stain markings and hard lumps that felt like concrete more than bubbled carpet, my foot could not flatten them nor could my suitcase be rolled over them.

The only reason I didn't complain at the time is I didn't want any fallout/having to sort another place and I didn't pay full price as I used a booking site. Such a dissapointing experience given the previous great reputation this hotel had.

Redeeming quality was the one staff member I encountered in my 5 day stay who was at another property was lovely and the car parking cost was reasonable.

Different to park in however due to shape and lack of order, was hard to return to only one park left, labelled for small cars only and you NOT being a small car.

I also agree that the hallways are loud. You hear everything from the rooms next door and throughout the hall. Cleaning staff were not mindful of this at all.

Nice size room and bathroom. Clean and well presented. It was easy to organised a late check out and parking.
Would be nice if the bar fridge was a little bigger to fit drinks and some food.
But over all was a good stay.

I arrived at 2pm, right on time for check-in, but my room was not ready. The receptionnist thus changed my booking to another room but, when I walked past the first one, I saw that it was way nicer, bright, with a nice view over the corner of the road, whereas the room they gave me had a view on a wall and was darker.
I asked to change rooms back to the original one but the person I talked to said no, even though we did not touch the bed or anything. Apparently they can't change rooms just like that, but actually they just did... not the experience I expected in a nice hotel like that

Came here for a wedding but I just love how they incorporate so many different designs within the area. Literally felt like I was walking a never ending hallway where the decor would constantly change from small town country vibes to grand majestic oriental palace to a resort by the ocean.

First up, had to walk around the corner and down the road to a different hotel to check in.. Then couldn't have a shower without turning the place into a swimming pool.. The water went every direction except for where you stood and the bed was very hard. Trying to sit up in bed against the wall was a no go also, it just slid straight out from the wall. Ended up spending over a grand to stay elsewhere for the weekend on short notice and I don't regret it at all.
