Staff were fantastic and friendly. We had our meal in the courtyard with our two dogs. Staff came out and turned on the heaters as soon as they knew we were there. Food was quick and tasted amazing, if we were in town another night we would have gone back. Definitely recommend 🙂

Had the schnitzel special with parmi topping, absolutely delicious. Service with a smile, beer garden with our dog under the lights and stars. Also great beer, highly recommend.

Super long food wait time, be prepared for a 2hr food wait. Half the pub is empty. Orders a beef Snitzel with killpatrick topping. Was an avarage serving but really delicious.

Great staff here. Really attentive people who want to add value to your night. Excellent meals and beer. Great selection of craft beers and a long list of amazing SA wines. You can't go wrong with this place in MG.

Chicken schnitzel was quite nice, chips passable, Salad boring, bland Dianne sauce and not enough of it. Decor is straight from Nanna's house but instead of being comforting was just plain terrifying.

Meet 3 times a year at this great Hotel. Dining staff have been lovely every visit and my group of between 9 & 18 people each visit are always very happy with their service and food. We are always happy to return. 😀

Went there for a meal with my spouse after driving all day,
Found happy hour was on so a $6 beer was quickly put away,
Chicken schnitzel and salt & pepper calamari were ordered just before kitchen opened for the night,
Which was bought to our bench where we watched cars slowing for the light.
Calamari was tender,not rubbery like some and the chicken was cooked to perfect-ion,
A sticky date pudding was shared which was more than alright
Then it was back to a clean cheap motor inn to rest for the night

The Cider Garden provides a very fun evening. Lots of drinks to choose from, mostly independent brewers, and the regular food menu is nice, plenty of things to shake up the traditional menu. Cosy during winter and Tristan makes you feel welcome weather a solo diner or a larger group.

Best pub meal we've had, the steak was tender and delicious and the snitzel was butterflied in panko crumbs with a delicious prawn and garlic sauce to absolutely die for. The service was great and the cidar bar outside was lovely, clean and quirky. From now on it is the go to place for us in the Mount.

Nice location off the main drag, quiet when we visited for lunch. Reasonable selection of menu items at an ok price for pub meals. Good solid feed without being outstanding. Well worth checking out.

Pretty dam good, actually. Went there for a schnitter while away for work, always finish on a positive so... Had the chicken schnitzel with gravy. The gravy came in a tiny little pot and was no more than about three tablespoons. I think the schnitzel may have been cooked in the same oil as fish but didn't stop me knocking it back in record time. The schnitzel was a really good size and served on top of the chips. The gravy and salad were served in separate bowls, so the schnitzel while quite tender was nicely crunchy all the way through. As I said, pretty dam good. Thank you.

Loved it!! Staff and Management were faultless and incredibly friendly. Customer Service was perfect. Facilities and premises was spotless. Food was incredible and very generous servings. Hats off to the chef. Steak was to my specifications perfectly and service was quick. The building is gorgeous and tastefully restored to perfection. Iv stayed in the rooms on several occasions as they are comfortable cozy and meticulously clean. I live in Gawler and frequently drive all the way there just for the steak or fish. Can;t review it enough to do it justice as it deserves so much more than 5 stars

I had a few nights stay at Macs in October and I really can't complain.
The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
The hotel itself is quirky and authentic. I kept hearing myself wonder "if these walls could talk.
The room was basic, small and tidy but was rather dusty
The shared bathroom was very clean. Repainting was only half complete but was still bright.
The automatic room spray device in my room was causing me some breathing difficulties but was very high on the wall and there was no way to turn it off so a couple of the staff turned on their acrobatics and took it down.
They were very prompt and rather entertaining in doing so.
I've given this place an over all 4 star based on my experience in accommodation in the budget category.
It was warm, comfortable, friendly and it's affordable.
Staff make you feel right at home too, their smiles and conversations feel genuine unlike some other much more expensive hotels I've stayed where they seem to smile through gritted teeth.
I'd absolutely be staying again.

Cocktails are in consistent. Takes a long time to receive your order. Ordered same cocktail 2 weeks apart and it was completely different. Definitely better places in Mount Gambier to sit back relax and enjoy a cocktail would not head back in a hurry

Dinner here was mixed I had a lovely chicken parma cooked spot on.
My wife's rump how ever was slightly over cooked but was more gristle than meat, the staff did replace it with another that was slightly better and a couple drinks on the house. I feel it was the meat itself was a cheaper cut.

We did not actually stay in the accommodation.
We did have a few beers and a meal.
All four of us totally enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the service.
Tristan, the bar manager, was very courteous and the rest of the staff were awesome.
Definitely highly recommend this place.

After reading some terrible reviews we decided to give it a go as the decore` was just what we love, Tristan and his staff are very friendly. The meal was lovely and came out before we could finish our first drink.

We weren't told about the wait for food over 45 minutes before we complained to then be told at least another 30 minutes. We only ordered a main and were told they will get all the starters out first! Staff were apologetic but really I shouldn't have to wait till the whole Pub has had their entrees!

Affordable accommodation with great service and at perfect location- the heart of city.
Room and premises are kept so clean and Unique by giving an exposure to great old times.
Most important and beautiful attractions of Mount Gambier are just few minutes away from the location and the Cathedral is just at walkable distance.

Had a super tasty meal here! Service was prompt & pleasant, food was tasty and filling - there was also a great atmosphere and range of drinks.

Good pub. Innovative menu with some great options, quality food and good size portions. Good selection on the wine list with many local options to choose from. Pleasant staff and prompt service. I've eaten here several times over the last year and has always been enjoyable, happy to go back.

I had the 300g scotch fillet which was cooked perfectly the roasted spuds were nice and crispy without being burnt.

My wife had the salt and pepper squid which she said was tasty not overwhelmingly salty but just right.

Daughter had the kids Hawaiian pizza which we all had a little taste of... was really good better then our home towns pizza.

All the food came out quickly like within 15 minutes of ordering.. friendly customer service.

Dessert was a kids Sunday which I mean impossible to mess up.

And what I would describe as a smashed pavlova. The "eton mess" was tasty as. Crunchy meringue whipped cream and tasty Berry coulis.. it was good..

Definitely come here if your hungry and in Mt Gambier

Genuinely aged and pleasantly decored.
Good service.
Had the "thousand guineas rump". Sensational.
AND, cooked exactly the way we requested.
Which is fairly unusual these days.
So overall a very pleasant experience.

Held my hubby's 60th Birthday Party in the Cider Garden Room, had a fantastic night and the room was perfect. Let us put decorations up, food was great, excellent atmosphere. Top service by Kylie the Events Organiser. Totally recommend

Mac's Hotel is a great Pub . The service was great the food came out nice and hot . The meals were really good, generous serves and a good variety of choices on the menu. Would recommend. The Decor is eclectic, interesting and cosy , it was a cold night.

The food was really nice. Cooked perfectly. Just a bit expensive. I would go there again for an occasion but not just out for tea on a weekend with the family.

Visited for dinner. Awesome rat versus snake taxidermi in the dinning area. Two fish with chips - was greasey and claggy batter with a small handful of fries. Visit this place with your retired grandparents they will love it

Nice simple room, shared bathroom was neat and clean.

The meal was good value and service was really nice.

Good food but waa a very busy the day we went so meals took sometime to come out and had to sit in the cold outside.

We came from Melbourne and stayed a couple nights. Amazing rooms for the price, menu is great, their Thursday chicken wing night is next level and our bartender Tristan was incredible! Perfect gin tasting and amazing cocktails. I can't recommend Tristan or this pub more to any Mt Gambier stayers. Best pub in Mt Gambier!

The service was amazing and the food was well priced and fresh. Overall excellent experience! I will definitly be coming back.

Stopped for dinner after vivid reopening. My wife and I had absolutely the best steaks. Grandkids had adult burgers and loved them. Great food and really nice staff.

Please, please add some more vegetarian &, vegan options to your menu. Chips, pizza or salad is pretty drab to choose from in this day & age. Disappointed any time Im invited to eat at the Mac's & usually won't go. A more versatile menu will be beneficial

Over 1 hour wait for food on a super quiet day. Bar staff are slow and not very professional, some stuff was missing from order. Food finally came and wasnu2019t cooked. Have visited this establishment 12 months ago and the same service.
