Stayed here for 4 nights for work. The room was beautifully renovated, spacious and comfortable.
Meals were delicious - had breakfast here daily and most dinners.
All of the staff were extremely professional and friendly.

After a really bad experience in a motel around the corner we rand about 7pm and the nice bloke got us a king room for the night. With late notice we checked in and the staff were fantastic. The room was clean and homely. We were pretty worked up and this hotel just made a big difference. Would recommend this place. Thankyou jayden? I think his name was.

Only experienced the Bistro. Was impressed with the cleanliness and tidiness of the restaurant and facilities. Meals were delicious and definitely well sized, you get a good feed for the price. Very positive experience and will be back again.

We recently stayed at Mt Gambier Hotel and had a great experience. The rooms were new and comfortable, although music from the bistro could be heard through the walls at times. But that is likely because of where our room was located. Other rooms would not have this problem. Plus it was not loud enough to be a bother to me personally. The food and service, however, were exceptional - both deserving of 5 stars. Overall, a wonderful stay with just a minor inconvenience and amazing staff.

Stayed here for one night on our way from Melbourne to Adelaide. Great value for money! Was right in the centre of town near lots of shops, the room looked recently renovated, and was very spacious. Would stay again

Stopped here for dinner - was a good pub meal. We shared a schnitzel which was large but thin, garlic prawn sauce was in a bucket but you needed it. Pork belly bites were ok but needed some pickles/salad to help cut through the richness. Also got a kids fish & chips which only had 1 small piece of fish - came out quick but for $15 thought perhaps you would get more. Had lots of good options on the menu, would come again

The receptionist with too many tattoo and piercings on her face had disgusting behaviour, she ruined my holiday with her rudeness.
First when I get there, she said I didn't have a booking without even looking on her computer system after make me wait for 10 minutes than she found my booking and while checking me in she just start communicating with another staff for 10 minutes and I was waiting and she completely ignored me. I would strongly suggest not to go there because that lady will ruin your trips too.

Only had a few beers in here around 4.30 pm. Wished I could have stayed longer, but I had only popped out for some milk.
Had they sold milk I could have stayed longer 😂. Nice welcome from the bar staff. Good selection of beers. Loved it

Absolutely stunning renovation and very fitting with the style of the building and the town's heritage! Everything you need provided. The room was incredibly spacious and warm on arrival, and the bed was super comfortable. The restaurant's menus had great choice and room service was prompt and friendly. Loved the little vase with dried florals that came on the room service trays, beautiful touch! All staff I engaged with very friendly and helpful. Great service and the food was delicious. Only a small thing, but was unusual to not have a face towel/cloth. As it was a Friday night, a bit of noise travelled upstairs from diners or gamers. Wasn't overly late and didn't bother me, but others might like to be aware. Quiet room with no other disturbances/noise from the street though!

When in My Gambier my wife and I always have a dinner at Mount Gambier Hotel. My Chicken Schnitzel with Hollandaise Sauce was fantastic, unfortunately my wife's Lamb Belly was lacking (more fat than meat) but the staff were very accommodating and replaced the meal and I thank them for that, well done to the Bar Manager. Overall a great place to eat.

Great little spot, plenty of patrons for dinner. Reception in the Gaming Room, was exceptional. Service in the bars average. Smile...

Had Fathers Day lunch with a group. Service was excellent and the meals were delicious. Extremely generous serves. Thanks for the beer. A very nice touch for the dads.

We stayed in room 106 and on first glance the room was absolutely lovely.
Unfortunately the mattress was cheap and very hard. 1 ply toilet paper wasn't great in a $180 a night room.
Large tv,which I needed to call staff to fix,and it had 2 meltdowns while there. Problem was solved quickly which was great .

Went here over the weekend and had lunch.

There were only two main meals that were vegetarian, and I had the roast vegetable salad. Unfortunately it was mostly just in seasoned raw spinach and the vegetables tasted under seasoned. The "whipped feta" looked and tasted like mayo. It sounded delicious on paper but just really bland.

I also had the halloumi fried and it tasted only of salt. I know halloumi is a salty hard cheese, but genuinely borderline inedible.

The service was the best part and they were genuinely lovely. Honestly the best part of the experience.

The meat based meals looked great so you won't miss out if you eat meat. Especially the fish and chips, looked amazing.

Went here for my Mum's and step Dad's wedding. It was a nice place. Since I was last there (well over a decade ago) it has been done up very well.

We love this place. Great value. It's great to walk down stairs to a great atmosphere for breakfast,lunch, dinner and drinks. Friendly staff, very clean and modern.

Went to a tasting Australia event and it was full of lovely local produce enthusiasts and awesome Majella Wines. A great menu and we are definitely looking forward to next years event with the hotel and local

I loved everything about this hotel! It seems very recently and stylishly renovated, such a comfortable stay in a very convenient location. Whisper quiet even though above the pub. A great sized room with everything you could need and fantastic value!

It would be near impossible to rate this place anything less than 5/5. It is by no means a 5 star hotel, but the room I stayed in was impeccably clean and modern and well appointed. Staff at check-in very efficient and friendly and the counter meals down stairs well priced and served quickly too.

It is in the dead centre of town. Can't go wrong being in walking distance of everything on the main street..

They do pet friendly rooms too. Will 100% consider staying here again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mount Gambier Hotel. The room was cleaned to perfection. Modern furniture and a comfortable bed. Our room was closest to the street but you can barely hear anything due to the thick glass windows. They had netflix and a few other apps on the TVs plus normal channels, which was great. The room was up a flight of stairs so if you need a ground room I'd recommend calling to request or confirm it. Luckily we didn't need this. The hotel is close to shopping which was great. We didn't eat at the pub attached but the menu looked delicious. Staff were excellent. We would stay there again. Thankyou!

Very nice renewed hotel. The rooms are clean and big and the bathroom is new and modern. The bed is very comfy and the breakfast offer is extremely versatile.
If we happen to stop again at Mount Gambier, we will definitely stay here. We highly recommend this place.

While holidaying in Port MacDonnell, we took a day trip to Mount Gambier and ate here to celebrate my wife's birthday. A group of 7 (4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 kids 7 and 4), we ordered our meals which came out fairly quickly which is always a plus when you have hungry kids.

Enjoying the meal, when our son accidentally lost control of his pasta bowl, which smashed on the floor. Bowl broken and pasta splattered all over the carpet.

My son was understandably embarrassed and quite upset. It was this moment where the staff blew us away. Kind, patient and understanding that accidents happen. The staff offered to replace his meal which he declined and though I offered to do it, they happily cleaned up the spill.

After an Ice Cream Sundae, our upset boy was back to his happy self.

The friendly nature of the staff involved was exceptional, during what was a rough moment for our boy.

Thank you to those who were involved in that moment. You certainly made our night better for the way you conducted yourselves.

Service was rather slow, though we had a large group pre-booked. Items came out in small groups. More related to what the meal was rather than the sequence ordered. Meals were lovely, could have been a bit larger for the price paid. Overall, good but not sure we'll rush back.

From the outside, the hotel is old world, and is very beautiful. On the inside, everything has been tastefully renovated, keeping the charm of the original hotel. We stayed in the king room and it was amazing, with 12ft ceilings and the washroom was huge. We also had dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious. The hotel is located in the heart of Mt. Gambier, and makes it very easy to explore the town.

Lovely big modern room and bathroom. Styled very nicely. Room 113 is at the back so it wasn't noisy but our friends in room 104 said it was a bit noisy as they were on the main road. But they had lovely balcony views. Definitely a great place to stay in Mount Gambier!

I rang at the last minute late at night to try and get my partner a room as he'd ended up in the nightmare motel from hell! The staff member was very accommodating and welcomed my partner despite the very late phone call. The room was exceptional and very quiet. We were both happy and relieved that they were able to help! 5 stars.

Great 3* hotel - tasteful renovations in the room. If you want the full renovated experience, book other rooms than a queen (we got #101). It is quiet, the bed area is beautifully redesigned (very good mattress, too), but the rest of the room, albeit clean and functional, appears to be from a different style. - Central location (2.5km from Blue Lake) and parking out back are further pluses.

Best value doggy friendly hotel we've ever stayed at.

Travelled all the way down from Adelaide for a few nights.

Decided on our last night to dine at "The G" I ordered the Kilpatrick to start and for main I had the duck and my partner had the pork belly.

The food was fantastic , highly recommend. The kitchen team are doing a great job. Front of house could be doing a little better , lacking no check in during the dining experience which if they had I would have given the great feedback first hand.

Stayed one night here and loved it. All the rooms have been recently renovated and are just gorgeous. Much nicer than a lot of much more expensive hotels I've ever stayed in. Spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, nice selection in the mini bar, large TV with netflix etc and Aesop Handwash/Hand cream in the bathroom. Heart of town and very reasonably priced.
Would definitely recommend.

I stayed a night here with my husband for my birthday and it's was such a wonderful evening! Our room was upgraded to the largest room with a bath, free of charge!! The staff were so lovely and helpful and the room was just stunning! Amazing bathroom with Aesop products and a fully stocked mini bar with reasonable prices. The rooms where excellent very clean and modern, staff where very friendly and helpful and considering it is a pub below there was no noise at night. Would highly recommend staying here if you visit Mt Gambier !

Evening meal was very enjoyable. Pre dinner ales were what the doctor ordered. Meals were flavoursome and more than adequate.

Excellent service by staff at Mt Gambier Hotel. Prices for food and drinks very good. Meal would have been better if Burger had been hot like chips. The chicken breast burger was delicious but bun and bacon were just warm.
Temperature in meal area could have been warmer but l am not a local.

Smoked egg - had less flavour than a standard poached egg
Grilled tomato - under cooked
Salmon - just dull
Bacon - soft and oily
Banana bread - actually spicy
I don't know what they did to sourdough toast but, no, just no. Sprayed stale bread with water and toasted it? Just no.

With complete sincerity, the tomato sauce I asked for was the best part of the meal.

I had one of the nicest breakfasts that I have ever had -Smoke on the Water. Highly recommended. Dining room and toilets were clean and service was good.

Not the obvious choice for a coffee and cake but we got a table, great service and coffee. The brownie is a full size dessert, death by chocolate and ice cream made with vanilla.
Edit: Returned for lunch. Food is fantastic and so are the staff. I swapped the chips away for my diet.

We had breakfast & dinner here. The food was lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I ordered the crayfish (800- 1000g) it was quite well priced, with excellent sides, very deliciously prepared. My wife ordered the Neptune platter and was also very generous in size and quite delicious as well. The menu is quite extensive and meal portions are very good. Staff were exceptionally attentive and ambience of the bistro was warm and inviting. A must for dinner.

Stayed in the western room (room 11) which was huge and was a pleasant surprise. The bed was large and comfy and the pod coffee maker was great. The stairs weren't bad as I had read in other reviews as we used the rear external stairs that are wider and easy to use. Noise was not a problem at all due to the location of the room not being above the main bar or poke room. Carpet could do with replacing but otherwise it the room great.

Friendly, polite staff. Quick service. Good meal. Will be back for another meal.

Usually, I am very impressed but tonight we had making dough pizza. They were absolutely terrible. Every pizza at our table was returned with few slices eaten. Unfortunately, they are not close to competitive with other local venues. I understand that this was a fundraising initiative with a generous $10 from each pizza donated and I am grateful, but reputation is everything in this business and I could not recommend.

The Bistro which also serves the front bar from a cafe style menu with chips and salad or veg on the side. Several choices for GF and Veg. Small selection of lovely desserts. Moderately busy family atmosphere with adequate table service.

Stayed and ate dinner in this great country hotel in Mount Gambier. We booked at the last minute and then needed to change; staff were super accommodating and friendly. Our room (11) was large and nicely fitted out. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom modern and spacious. There was also a kitchenette. nnDespite the nightclub style music in the pub downstairs the room was incredibly quiet. Free parking available out the back.nAlso had a nice dinner -good range of meals and local beer. Big dining area. Centrally located.

WOW, not sure where to start. We had dinner there last night for the first time and it was great. Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. I had a pumpkin and onion soup which was incredible and for mains I had a medium scotch fillet was beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and happy to chat. A good selection of wines that we tried and enjoyed. At the end of the night we went next door to the bottle shop and bought some of the wine that we had. I considered the cost very fair for the excellent food and service received. Inside was quite modern and clean. The wait staff kept our table clear of dishes and glasses. Overall a fantastic experience.
