We loved our pork ribs .. was a tad burnt but nothing too serious but 1 thing i do need to mention is that the meals are huge !!! Nearly forgot to mention ..those chips .. to die for ..so yummy flavour and texture

Nice historical pub in Mt Gambier,
Good central location, typical pub menu, good food and service when we were there. We had a nice lunch there.

Such beautiful service. Immy was so helpful and kind. The entire experience was incredible. The food was FABULOUS! Thank you for making our first trip to Mount Gambier so lovely.

Very disappointing. Rump steak was very thin, very well done (ordered medium) and full of gristle. Would have given 0 stars, but the buffet salads were good. Don't order the steak.

During a recent visit to Mt Gambier, my family, friends, and I had the pleasure of dining at Jen's Hotel, following a recommendation from a local acquaintance. The experience was nothing short of exemplary. The pub fare, including the fish and chips, oysters, pork ribs, and calamari, was of the highest quality, with portions that were notably generous, ensuring even the children's meals were substantial. The value for money was exceptional, reflecting a chef who is both skilled and passionate. Additionally, the selection of beers on tap complemented the meals admirably. Despite a reduced staff on a public holiday, the service remained commendable. I wholeheartedly endorse Jen's Hotel for those seeking culinary delight in Mt Gambier.

Had a few beers and a meal here. Good service. It certainly gets busy in the restaurant. Beautiful building full of period character. Good selection of beers, all ice cold. They have a fixed menu and specials on. Loved the lamb Rogan josh.

The meals are worth what you pay for. Big meals and tasty, beautiful. Compliments to the head chef and kitchen staff.
The only thing I can pick on was the waitresses service was a little slow. Half the table had received their meals whilst the other half including a child had to wait for their meals to come out. Not sure if thats the oversee'ers job or what, but thats the only dampener of the night. My first time being there too.
Atmosphere was great. Busy dining room. Oh and one more thing. I noticed outside the building had some cosmetic work happening on the pub, but trying to find the entrance was hard. Better Signage would improve this.

We are currently taking turns using the bathroom. Terrible stomach pains seem to be the symptom that each person in our group is experiencing after having dinner here.
Here's a breakdown of our meals:
1. The prawns in the garlic prawns were prepared from frozen. The sauce was worse than jar sauce. It had the consistency of custard.
2. The pumpkin soup did not taste like pumpkin. It had a burnt taste to it. It was basically flavoured water. Flavour unknown.
3. Vermicelli noodles should be clear with a soft texture. These were not. They were undercooked and hard. It was like eating 2 minute noodles straight out of the packet.
3. The schnitzel didn't taste fresh. It was chewy and really thick.
The main meals were all near the $30 mark.
Like I said previously, please don't eat here.

Stayed 4 nights and considered it an excellent location. Close to the RSL, which served West End on tap. Jens doesn't. Bar staff at Jens could be friendlier. Never gave great service, lacked smiling, and always continued talking to another staff member or someone else when they served. A training course in customer service is warranted.
It's an old-fashioned pub lacking old customer service.

I would leave zero stars if I could. The food was not even mediocre for the price and to make it even worse it is not even close to special. I ordered Chef's special lamb shank and was a disaster. Cold and frozen from inside and didnt tasted fresh at all. Asked to replace it, chef simply reheated the meal and served back with extra mashed potatoes. On complaining, I was told "Sorry about that". Left the place and will never go back. Dont waste your money try other options guys!!

Great food at very reasonable price. Went back two days later, to make sure wasn't a 'one off', and great meal again. Complimentary salad and veggies bar with excellent variety.

When we visit the Mount from Adelaide we always dine at Jen's Hotel as it is the best hotel in the Mount and has been so for more than 150 years since my ancestors arrived there in 1860 and became appreciative patrons.

Went for lunch, had a beef schnitzel and chips, thought price was reasonable. Open salad bar was ok. Meal finally arrived it was the worst beef schnitzel I have ever had. Could not eat hardly
Any of it. It smelt wrong, looked wrong and tasted even worse.. Mushroom gravy was horrible it was so thick and gluggy. Would not recommend. The one star is for the salad.

Went in for a Rooster Burger as had heard good things but instead was greeted with a BREWSTER Burger!

Menu isn't the best and the meals were average, they did used to do an amazing carbonara which was why we went there but they've taken it off the menu.
We went as a small group for our Christmas breakup and 2 people got food poisoning from the chicken pasta.

Great couple of nights staying in recently refurbished rooms which were very comfortable. Here for a wedding and the reception was here as well - excellent service and food. Staff were exceptional would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Right in the middle of town, fantastic food, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Definitely worth stopping in for a beer every trip down to Mt Gambier.

Great pub and bistro with delicious food and friendly service. All meals are great value and the open salad bar makes every meal a feast. We really enjoyed our visit here and we will be back.

Great food , good price and good service. the oysters were maybe the biggest I've ever had. Mixed grill was pretty good. Red Rib & steak was a good deal too. Good cold beer and a nice cab sav with the main. Recommend venue.

Ladies lunch, food was nice, Menu a bit narrow. Finding a staffer to give our order to was disappointing, there was quite a queue by the time somebody came out from the kitchen. Dining room is comfy and calm. Staff friendly enough too. We will return.

Fantastic local hotel with excellent,friendly service and very reasonably priced.
Our family of four enjoyed steak and burger meals and.rated them highly!

Worst pub food we ever had. Had lunch with my family today. 26/12/2021. Food was really oily. Oil was all over the plates. Service was so bad and unfriendly. We asked some water for the table. Brought a bottle of water without glass. My wife and me both had chicken and we both end up having gastro. Not recommending for any meal.

A nice pub, schnitzel was ok, bottom crust was a bit tough. However, atmosphere was great. Staff seem to be a bit under the pump

We had a lovely meal here. The roast lamb melted in our mouths. Fast service, never disappoints. Ample serves.

Wow. Meals were amazing! Pork belly and pork rib rack. Well presented and delicious. This pub has really lifted it's food quality. Will definitely be back for another serving.

Need a clean room for the night....maybe give this place a miss. Whilst the hotel has a grand exterior, the rooms are terrible. Dirty carpets, old bathrooms. Place would be great once renovated...but not up to any standard at the moment

We attended a family party . To order our meals we waited in line as only 1 person was serving a completely full dining room but while we are waiting waitresses are picking up dirty dishes and walking through us to get to the kitchen door. Waitresses were very young.... I asked one and she was " 14 - 15 in September " she proudly told us. I ordered a salad plate and the plate came out of the kitchen straight out of the dishwasher at a very high temp. Cold salad on a hot plate?!?! Terrible! One waitress had black jeans on with several "fashionable" rips across her legs! Look disgracefully. Meals did not come out as the chronological order,,,, hubby's meal came out about 12 minutes before my HOT salad plate. All I needed was a plate ..... terrible! We were then served the birthday cake and the spoons we got to eat the lovely cake were soup spoons! I realise it was a Saturday night but the whole night was very unpleasant and half our large table came from Victoria and they weren't impressed at all. Will never go there again. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 3 decades and to have that many underaged workers was disgusting! A lady was voicing her complaints to one of the staff who then went to an area where she could see her and spoke to another girl and obviously they worked out what to say but it didn't work so then the husband complained but in the end they walked out. Terrible Terrible Terrible!

Worst pub I have been to in South Australia.
Placed an order for my sons drink, Man walked off for 4min then returned empty handed and asked my what I wanted again.
Ordering food was slow, long wait for food. After most of us had finished we were still waiting for my wife's food. We asked about the meal and were told it would be straight out. Kids had dessert and still not meal for my wife. Had to ask again to finally get it more than 1h30min after ordering.

Very good meal, friendly wait staff. All meals were good quality although one was very slow to arrive of the 4 ordered. Nice fresh salads. Definetly will return for another meal.

The BEST steak. EVER. Do yourself a favour and get the steak. You won't be disappointed. Very generous sauce serving too.

Good seafood buffet here. Also they offer all you can eat salads. Good value for money.
