Went for the $10 steak deal with a group of friends. They managed to lose our orders so we didn't get our food until about an hour after ordering but we were offered a free drink due to the error.

Location is good, beer was good and we all had a good catchup with friends but the reason that this is a 1 star review is that I got food poisoning from the food.

Didn't try the food as the kitchen was closed - at 2.30pm in peak season? Sounds odd.

What put me off was the generally officious staff attitude and - weirdly, that I couldn't by a neat whisky

You have to buy a mixer. But worse, you can't have it, unless it is mixed into the whisky by the staff!

Weird and sounds like downright exploitive to charge for over-price mixers

I can't see I'll go back as this is not a serious customer focused business with nonsense policies like this

Can't beat a $10 steak, especially when it comes with sauce, great chips and a coleslaw so good it was almost the star of the show. Good stuff, I wish I had this where I was from I'd be a regular for sure.

Delicious pub meal. $10 steak chips and coleslaw was delicious. Amazing value. Big eaters may want to order two, but I found it perfect size. Cheeseburger and chips also very good ($19). Bar specials included $4 Millers Chills. Good kids menu too. Highly recommend for a cheap and cheerful family dinner.

After Ordering a Drink after a long day after work and shortly after paying for the two drinks I was informed by a rude bar manager that I can only have one at a time. If that is the Government rule then they Broke the law by acepting payment for two drinks at the same time. The Coustomer service has really gone down hill in the last 30 Day's the New staff need to be trained with better coustomer service skills skills!

$10 steak deal is nice and cheap but tough and unevenly cooked. Very conveniently located with poker machines and outdoor areas.

My only criticism is the location , 2300 km from Sydney !! the $10.00 steak lunch's are incredible value the daily specials for beer is a welcome surprise as well thank you very much

1st time I visited the Grand what a great experience. Called in for a bite to eat ordered a $10 200gm rump with chips and slaw with a egg and bacon ???" topper $7 extra absolutely lovely apart from steak and chips 2eggs and 4-5 rashers of bacon a great counter meal washed down with a couple ice cold beers. Wife had flattytails a chips thoughly enjoyed. Tab gaming room outside eating area wonderful food and service. A few other eateries in Cairns could take a leaf out of the Grand Hotels book . Well done to all .

Every Friday a bunch of us go in for the $10 steak. For this money you get a 200g steak, coleslaw and chips. The steaks are always cooked as ordered and they are rarely tough, and in the case it is tough we all look at each other and say "it's at $10 steak". Other than that, beer is cold, staff friendly and a great atmosphere.

We visited 3 times each time your Wonderful Hannah from Sweden waa so helpful and delightful In everywhere.

Been to the restaurant with two friends, we all ordered the 10$ Steak. We had to wait for 45 min until we got the food. I ordered mine well done and it was overcooked, my friends ordered medium rare and one was good the other was well done (less than mine). My steak was half the size of the other ones and honestly if it wasn't for the very cheap prize, I would have sent it back immediately. Wouldn't go again.

Yummy cheeseburger! Will definitely fill you up. Chips are very tasty and great crunchy outside/soft inside balance.

Fish is fine tasting but only measly 'tender'-sized pieces of heavily battered fish.

Nice bar with friendly staff. The steak with chips is the cheapest in the city and fair enough, good coleslaw salad and delicious chips. Three options of sauce all of them good enough.

It is definitely recommended to go with friends and have some beers with no hurry for the food. At night many people go so you will have to wait, but the staff will let you know how long... sports, good music and location, gambling for those who like it, and good food... it worths to go...

Went for a meal with friends. Drinks and food reasonably priced. Meal service was slow,well over 30 minute wait, and whilst most meals were fine one was definitely not. However it took a further lengthy wait to address and eventually rectify this situation. Not on the revisit list.

Went in for the 10 dollar steak and pint, lovely girl Liv behind the bar was really helpful and hilarious with amazing service! Food brought over by another lovely backpacker (I believe called Elise)! 10/10 food for the price. Would definitely recommend!!!

Very friendly bar staff who were all too helpful. Meals were really good and were well priced. Definitely a good option if you want a good meal, a beer and watch some footy on the TV's in the bar.

Ordered the $10 steak. Tasted great, pepper sauce was awesome. Unfortunately the steak was like jerky and the chips were a flavour of disappointing that i couldn't put into words. The slaw closed the deal though with a decent flavour and was fresh.

Had the best experience at this place, there was great customer service, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Naomi, Mel and Ben on their amazing work!! And the chef Josh on the great presented tasty food. They all brought everyone an excellent smile and catered beverages very nicely. Thank youse so much, love it there.

Can't go wrong with a $10 rump meal just wish we had the option to choose coleslaw or garden salad. Some of the staff/Managers there are soooo rude and have this look like they don't want to be there . One manager she sounds like she is from the UK she is sooo lovely.

Edit post - Went in again after training for Thursday night dinner 19/01/23 and all the night staff there were soooo awesome Friendly and just super chill.

I had the $10 steak rare and couldn't chew it so disappointed.
I ordered Garlic bread that was not put on the order and was asked what drink I wanted like it was a deal with a drink my $10 steak turned into $18 meal.
As for the grumpy manager you need to look up the definition of customer service maybe even do a course to learn how to offer that. Seriously your in hospitality and ever encounter I've had with you has been less than acceptable. Not to mention there is always new staff so I guess you have a lot to learn.
I would suggest the owner re think his choice obecause your rude arrogant and have no idea

Food was cheap and service was good but my steak burger was burnt so bad! When I asked the manager he said it looks like you've eaten it and I said yes I ate the bacon and bread because it wasn't burnt! They provided a refund for the burger but I wouldn't go again.

MOST RANK PLACE IN CAIRNS

Worst place I have ever been to. Yesterday I walked inside and up to the bar, (no one checking IDs) there were only 2 bar tenders who looked like they had no clue how to run a bar or pour beer, no greetings, no eye contact, I waited for about 5 minutes at the bar to be served, watched 3 other people who had walked up to the bar AFTER ME be served before me, absolutely pathetic. I ordered food which took around 40 minutes, I didn't get to finish it all so I went up to the bar to get a takeaway container and was told I had to pay $2 for one, I walked away to then grab some coins to pay a pathetic fee, came back and spoke to someone else, was told I wasn't allowed to have a takeaway container anymore as I didn't request one when placing my order righto bit of a weird thing to say. Can guarantee I will not be back here

Where do I start LOL ordered food then waiter came over and informed us that they won't bring out starters before mains you get it all at once righto then after we dropped 100buck on food we asked for a takeaway container then told we had to pay 2 dollars for a pizza box to.take.it.away misso paid then manager come over and refunded her 2 dollars said they don't do takeaways gave my partner a heap of napkins I hope.my people.read these reviews before going into this place. I won't be coming back ever again. Drinks aren't cheap either.

I had the $10 steak medium rare, chips and slaw with pepper gravy. The steak was so tender, it was beautiful. Cold beer. Will definitely be going back. Great service.

food: great value for daily use. I eat $10 ramp steaks every evening in my short business trip.
service: enough. If you guys want to take a great service, you guys can go any expensive restaurant and spend extra cost 5 times or more.

Grand Hotel in Cairns is good old pub. We had lunch there and lunch was beautiful. Rump steak chip's and slaw. Staff were friendly and energetic. Beer was cold and the atmosphere was warm. Definitely recommend beer's, lunch or dinner at this well run business.

My husband and I had the $10.00 Steak, Chips and Coleslaw for Lunch plus 2 drinks (Pint of Nthn & Piccolo) at $18.50. Total was $38.50. We both really enjoyed the Lunch, and where surprised how nice it was. 10/10 for Price and Value. The girls behind the bar where very helpful and patient. We would recommend this place for easy and tasty, value for money lunch. '?

At first I was skeptical about such low prices. Had a well done rump steak with chips and coleslaw for 10$. And a beer for 6$. It's the cheapest pub I have seen so far. And guess what it tastes awesome.

It was our first pub meal in Cairns and the friendly staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The food was delicious ,great value for money and the atmosphere was old school just the way I like it. Will be going back before heading back to Melbourne.

I loved this place! I plan on coming back and staying longer. It's clean, comfortable, close to everything, spacious with a kitchen, lounge room and seating outside on the balcony. The bathroom looks newly renovated, with huge showers and great water pressure. The food downstairs is so good, I had two dinners in one night The beer is cold and the service was outstanding. Everyone is so lovely and welcoming. If you're staying in Cairns, definitely stay at the Grand Hotel. I'd give more stars, if it was an option.
