Sunday roast
We had a delicious Sunday roast at this busy pub. The roast pork and the vegetables were extremely well-cooked and presented - no soggy peas or greens and lukewarm roast vegetables in sight. The pork was super tender and the apple sauce was delicious. The staff were super helpful and friendly too! Great value for money!!

Nice place to go. Playground was under renovation when we were there sadly for the kids.
Meals were all pretty good over a few visits.
I did try the beef brisket, but found the sauce that accompanied it extremely hot and overall didn't like the meal much.

I cam here for lunch, it was towards the end of the lunch sitting, i ordered a eye fillet steak. I ordered blue. It was cooked nicely, i also ordered the prawns ontop. They where a little undercook which i quiet like that way there not to chewy. The steak was a little over cooked for my blue. However inknow doing a blue steak is not easy, the veggies where cooked to perfection a crunk a little on the under cooked which in my view is way better then over cooked. The mash was a little dry, Its more on the pricey side. I did watch the cheef take out the smokey meet from the bbq, bext time ill try that! The gaming rooms pays out. This is a quiey pub during lunch times cant wait to go back

Having eaten here many times and never been disappointed, I ventured into pizza territory with dinner tonight.
The Tandoori Chicken pizza with a mango chutney base is far and away the nicest pizza I have ever tasted.
Being a tour guide I have eaten in hundreds of places around the country but have never had a pizza as good.

This place is awesome.. Fantastic service, and the food was amazing..We had the slow cooked smoked pulled pork and beef brisket..OMG..a must try??'?

Stopped her for a quick drink and ended up playing the dart machine. The venue is clean, staff are friendly. The menu looked tasty in the Bistro. I noticed that they also had a courtesy bus too "Boon Bus". Will come back to try the food.

Unfortunately this place is hit and miss. One day you can have an amazing meal served quickly - next day wait 90 minutes and the food is inedible and then the cook is claiming the steak is medium rare and you need a butcher's block to penetrate a $109 steak.

Nasi goreng $28 was almost inedible
Soggy rice with over powering curry powder and small unidentifiable meat (porridge?)
Chicken Lemongrass Singapore noodle $28 was greasy over loaded with onion shallots maybe to compensate for no lemongrass and sketchy chicken.
$56 !
Disgusting !!!

Would not recommend and sorely disappointed ☹️

The general manager of Maraboon Tavern reached out to me via email directly, and was offered a meal tonight to make up for last nights experience.

I chose a different cut of meat tonight, the eye fillet, and it was exceptional, plus the mexican sweet corn entree was nice, and the sticky date pudding + ice cream dessert was nice.

This establishment corrected a mistake, offered to show what they can do, and provided that in spades tonight, and that I applaud them.

Special shout out to Tawhana on front of house, a nice bloke, keep up the good work.

I had a sit down dinner tonight at your establishment.

I ordered the 400gram $38 rump steak.

To say the cut of steak was bad is an understatement, i chewed and spat out half, persisted with a quarter of it, and left the rest as it was inedible.

A staff member asked how my meal was, and I politely stated it was horrible, rubbery, hard gristle and a bad cut of meat, my plate was then swiftly taken back to the kitchen to let them know, then a different staff member comes back to my table, and i was only offered one drink, or a dessert....after I refused those (I just wanted a good steak), a refund was the only outcome here, but was not offered.

My experience was subpar at this point, and I left extremely disappointed and pretty much only about 100grams of steak actually eaten, and not good at all.

I travel into Emerald regularly for work, and this experience has now put me off coming into your establishment again.

Fantastic food, big meals, wonderful atmosphere.
All staff were fantastic, was a little off putting that some 'senior' staff were being quite harsh to a younger staff member who was obviously learning the ropes. I forgot to ask for the young man's name, but he was doing a fantastic job! He was very friendly and had great customer service skills.

Also fantastic that it is a pet friendly place to eat!

Front of house welcome was amazing. Food excellent, but staff struggled to provide key info in response to questions e.g what meat was in Bali curry special. Table waitress pleasant and happy. Dishes we ordered (Thai beef salad and Barra - with onion rings) both well presented and delicious. Great value. Little not to like!

If I could rate this place a no star I would. Ordered the rib fillet with calamari topper and it came out like a peice of old chuck steak left in the sun. Don't pay $50 for a steak here, not worth it at all.

Customer service however seemed to be not to bad. You generally come for the food so book a table at the McDonald's down the road instead for an edible meal...

Probably one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Ordered the Maraboon Smoked Combo Platter and to say it was underwhelming would be generous. The beef brisket was more like shoe leather and the chicken wings were luke warm and just as disappointing. 'Baked' potato seems to be a loose term, 'reheated meal' would be a better discription of what we received today. If you must eat here, stick to the basics and pray they don't stuff that up. Service left something to be desired, staff were confused and often left patrons unattended. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Good atmosphere and venue. Very popular eating spot mid week. Great selection from the menu backed up by well presented good quality food. Only feedback being the dress standard could be improved. Too many work clothes and hi-vis shirts for my liking. Appreciate it is a mining town but good restaurant demand some standards.

I've eaten here 30+ times but last night with a table of 10 was so disappointing! We had 5 meals come out and they were eaten and taken away before another 2 meals were brought out and our last 3 came out with a side from 1st meals..the meals were perfect and delicious as usual but there has to be something you can do about 1 table = all meals at the same time..again compliments to the chef just sad they came out so lopsided. We will be back

Prompt and efficient service, and the sweet potato and haloumi salad is delicious- I have had it several times and it has not disappointed. A staff member has suggested added avocado and mushroom, however I find that it is yummy as is.

The pork ribs are a big disappointment, especially for $48. Everything else on your menu is delicious, but far from satisfied with the pork ribs. Still four stars as I enjoy all the other aspects of The Maraboon.

5 stars for super clean toilets! Wow
4 stars for large eating area and clean.
4 stars for staff and efficiency (behind the bar)
2 stars for lunch we ordered .. we ordered the $20 steak lunch medium.
Unfortunately its was almost blue steak, chewy. Chips were great and the Diane sauce was fantastic.
My wife's was the same - almost blue.
I was unable to flag a staff member down to alert of my steak and didn't want to return it to the bar where there was a line up.
For $20 I won't complain to much.
I will eat there again.
I used to go there back in the day for the $10 steak lunch and it was to die for! Time has changed and cost has gone up like anything in aust.

We stayed at the motel behind the tavern so no brainer to pop in for dinner. Didn't book, and the restaurant was full so we went to the bar/pool room area, I went to the bar and was greeted by a young women who certainly needed full training on how to treat a customer. It was as though it was to much effort to serve, her attitude was short and rude...gave her the benefit of the doubt though. Ordered food which was very good ??'?. When another young women brought the meals out, I asked if she could top up the coleslaw as it was half full, she grabbed it rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen. I spoke to my partner and he noticed how rude she was. Next! was a glass of wine, and in the last drop...yes a fly 🪰. Well this was the last straw. I asked to see the manager, Roy, who was fabulous and was so apologetic, in a conversation I had with him he mentioned that they found it extremely hard to find staff, I said they need to treat people as they would want to be treated and that it wasn't good enough, he agreed. On a positive, the entertainment was really good, we spoke to the lovely young guitarist/singer Sean Murphy. Talented.
In short...train the staff in hospitality if they continue to treat people with disrespect, get rid of them, they don't deserve the job.

Nice travel, easily accessible in Emerald. Quite busy so seating runs out on the weekend nights. Some questionable characters in the pokies, but that's often to be expected. The food and drinks are a tad pricey. My son loves the keno, then again, who doesn't. Lots of nearby parking.

The service, drinks and food here are wonderful. Best brisket and my lemon, lime and bitters was the best I've ever had. Highly recommended 😁

The portion sizes were awesome. I highly recommend the bao buns, chicken crispy noodle salad and sweet potato wedges. The food is amazing, one of the best restaurants I have ever visited

Solid food. Was just passing through the area and stopped by to have lunch. Had the buffalo wings and chicken curry. Kudos to the team

We always stop in here for lunch when we're in Emerald for the day. Great modern facilities with good food. Last time we were there though, some more bar staff would have come in handy due to being quite busy. Recommend the pork ribs from their in house smoker.

My wife and I had a delicious dinner at the Maraboon Tavern tonight and we brought a group of friends. This is our second time here and won't be our last. We had a great time. We especially enjoyed the service from one particular staff member, a young NZ man named Tough. Excellent customer service. He served us last time we were in town with his great welcoming smile and he convinced us to return and bring all of your friends. SO WE DID ??'?🏾 we were lucky enough to meet again. Thankyou Maraboon Tavern for the great food and our excellent NZ man Tough.

Tonight 10th July, we ALL had a wonderful dining experience. 2 had the platter combo (could not eat it all) 1 pork ribs, 1 noddles and 1 the chicken schnitzel. Each meal was flavoursome, and a true hit. The service on the floor and with the wait staff...excellent. A few places in the city and Rton could lean a think or two on flavour of a meal. An all round excellent experience. Thank you! 😘😘

We had been travelling for over a week and this was the best meal we had had by far! Absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the beer was cold. What else could you ask for? Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit!

We called in tired and hungry. Staff were so nice and made us feel at home although we were only passing through. Our meals were tasty and perfectly cooked.

We both tried the smoked menu today and to say it was beautiful would be an understatement. The large size meals is certainly only for the big eaters.

The place is well spaced, the staff are friendly and service is usually quick. The meals are nice but some times on the small side for the cost.
