Bar staff were friendly, fast and polite but I wouldn't let my dog eat their food.
I, a cook with 30+ years experience, ordered the local 300g with chips n salad. My daughter, a qualified chef herself, got the gnocchi. The meat smelt weird and was half rare half well done. The gnocchi was gluggy and gross. The salad had a near flavourless dressing like Mayo was mixed with water.
There's no point complaining as the kitchen simply does not care.
I ate at the criterion nearly daily for a few years when it was owned by the previous family and now I wouldn't recommend a homeless, starving man eat there for free.
Its so sad to see whats become of a once great hotel.
RIP Criterion
