Customer Review

Such a good local tavern! The meals were delicious and hearty, came really quickly as well. The staff were all lovely and helpful. Lots of seating so no worries getting a table, also liked how there was a few different areas to sit, such as inside or outside in a glassed in area which was a bit cooler which we preferred. Great view of the ocean, would be amazing for lunch time when there's more light.

We visited The Longboat Tavern during our stop in Bicheno and had a really enjoyable experience overall. We were seated straight away with no wait, which was a great start, and decided to sit out on the deck - such a perfect spot with a beautiful view of the water. It's a lovely place to relax and soak in the coastal atmosphere.

We ordered the Chicken Schnitzel, the Big Bicheno Burger, and a serve of the Mac and Cheese Croquettes to share - and wow, the food did not disappoint! Everything came out hot and fresh. The schnitzel was beautifully cooked with a crispy coating, the burger was packed with flavour and stacked high, and the croquettes were golden, cheesy, and absolutely hit the spot as a starter. Portion sizes were generous, so you definitely get great value for money.

A couple of small things kept it from being a five-star experience. The service at the bar felt a bit disengaged - not unfriendly, but just lacking a bit of warmth or attentiveness. And the "mushroom gravy" that came with the schnitzel was more like regular gravy with mushrooms stirred through - not quite the rich, creamy mushroom gravy we were expecting. Still tasty, but not what we had in mind.

That said, the quality of the food, the amazing view from the deck, and the relaxed, casual vibe made it a really enjoyable meal overall. Would happily return the next time we're in Bicheno - especially for those croquettes!

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Had an extremely disappointing experience at The Long Boat Tavern. First off, we were charged for a meal we didn't even order ??" no apology, no explanation.

I ordered a steak and clearly asked for vegetables instead of chips and salad ??" not once, but multiple times. It still came out wrong. On top of that, the steak was overcooked and ridiculously small for the price tag.

The burger was dry, the chips were soggy, and the Aussie parmigiana was so dry it literally stuck to your teeth ??" almost impossible to swallow. The gravy? Watered down and completely flavourless.

Absolutely nothing about these meals were worth the money. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We felt very unwelcome at this place.
( except for the young man. He was lovely. I'd like to thank him for his service )

We were given a credit to use here due to a problem with our stay at the motel. We were taken to an empty room with no one around.

When we went to the bar to order drinks the lady mentioned the credit twice.

We then ordered the entree and mains. Another mention about the credit...

The entree came out after about 20min. 5 min later the mains came out. We were no where near done with the entree.

We had ordered 2 fisherman's baskets and the nachos. The fish was nice and fresh and the batter was good. The chips were awful. The nachos were undercooked and the guacamole was brown. ( see photo )Halfway through the meal the lady came up to us with the final receipt for me to sign for the credit. Charging the remaining to our room. We still wanted to order desserts, but we felt they wanted us out of there. So we left and walked to Sealife cafe for our desserts. Do your self a favour and go to Sealife instead.

Cob loaf =8/10
Curried scallops on a "bed"of rice: scallops were chewy and well over cooked and swimming in curry. Rice was a sticky mess. 7/10.
Beef burger and chips: no complaints other than cold chips. 9/10.
Kids calamari: was the toughest and dried mess I've ever seen in my life. Look like it came out of box. 3/10.
Chicken snitty w chips and salad.
Chicken was dry as a bone, thin, taste less until I found the uncooked end after taking the coating off, Which caused me to use every public toilet possible on the way home the next day 🤢. mushroom gravy was out of a tin with no mushrooms and cold. -1/10
