I know that Cooly rocks is a busy time in Coolangatta but there is no excuse for what I was served up for lunch. Ordered the Cooly special burger.....slow cooked rib fillet the menu said. I received a slab of sloppy fat....NO MEAT to be seen....on a bun with a bit of coleslaw. $25 for an inedible burger....we are new residents to the are and we definitely will Not be back.

This is for the bar, I can\'t figure out how to review it without also reviewing the hotel. Anyway, it\'s a fine spot for getting a beer by the water. The steak sandwich was disappointing - the meat seemed cheap, it was overcooked (medium well when I asked for medium rare), and they covered it in some sort of sweet sauce and wrapped it in a \"bacon\" kind of meat that is just making things worse. It tastes like a lot of stuff, just not steak. The french fries were good though. I\'d come back for a different dish or to check out a live musician some time.

To say that the food here was disappointing, would be an understatement.
I ordered here twice, once during peak evening service and the other during a more quiet lunch service.
On both occasions, the food was equally disappointing and uninspiring, so I suppose they get points for consistency.

Seriously though, either get a new chef, or be honest with your prices, because that was pathetic.

Been coming to the Coolangatta hotel for over 20 years and always loved it. Ive never stayed at the hotel itself as we live locally, but often catch up with friends or family for lunch or dinner or to watch a band. We caught up with friends yesterday for a very long lunch. Sat outside in the sun as its starting to get alittle cool. We ordered our meals off the Lunch Menu Board which is just near the front entrance, great lunch specials, so cheap too, or otherwise use the other menu but prices are dearer on that one, lots to choose from, prices on that are what you would normally pay around the Goldy anyway. We ordered our drinks and meals, I got the $22 Lunch Rump ( 250g ) with Chips, Salad and Peppercorn Sauce, honestly you can\'t beat that price anywhere on the coast and it was delicious. The others got steak sandwich, fish and chips, and another $22 steak. Didn\'t have to wait to long for our meals either. Was a great afternoon, great atmosphere as always, love coming here.

We had dinner here tonight. It met my expectations as a pub meal.
Both my wife and I ate steaks that were cooked how we asked and tasted great.
There was quick and efficient service from the kitchen team. We didn't have to wait long for dinner; both dishes were served together. We felt the environment was warm and friendly.

We did witness an unfortunate incident between another customer and staff, which we felt was inappropriately handled on the part of the customer and made us and other patrons quite uncomfortable because of her aggressive and threatening manner. I'd just like to praise the staff at the venue for the way they handled the situation. The server handled the customer with maturity, respect and dignity. She maintained her composure and continued serving other patrons in the venue with a smile. I was also impressed by how efficiently the manager and security were able to arrive and come to a quick and efficient resolution. Great job by the staff tonight. I hope you don't need to deal with that customer again.
