Poor night at the Sydney...... table was booked online and the staff had no idea and table was not ready.

Beers were cold 😀

Waited an hour for our meal .... the restaurant was not busy.

Salad was poor 😫 didn't even look like a salad with cabbage in it !!!!

Steak was the highlight... cooked well and as requested, but had to go and ask for my pepper sauce!!!

Ribs were dry and cold 🥶

The dining room was dirty and the roof has extensive water damage and the A/C units are filthy ....... listeria breeding ground 🤢

Overall the night was disappointing and seen several meals from other customers went back to the kitchen.

Food is usually always delicious. Sometimes inconsistent, I always order the king avo schnitty, sometimes it's amazing with heaps of hollandaise sauce, sometimes next to none.
Nice quiet atmosphere and friendly staff. Good spot to take my 6 yr old daughter for an easy experience with kids

The one star is for the young girl serving at bistro as she was lovely.
We got lamb shanks with veg, schnitzel with mash potato and gravy, bruschetta.
Waited 40 minutes and they brought out the starter and ONE of our mains. I asked why my main was with the starter, we only ordered the bruschetta as a starter. Lady (not the girl at the counter) just said "ok" and was very disinterested, then offered to take the main and sit it under the heat light. I declined I didn't want dry chicken.
Second main came 6 minutes later.
Bruschetta: served on some barely cooked garlic ciabatta bread. Was a mix of gluggy doughy bread and crunchy onion with soft tomato.
Lamb shanks: cooked so they were tender let down by lack of any flavour. Vegetables felt like they'd been boiling since lunch.
Schnitzel: huge. Thin. Overcooked. Cut my gum on some of the overcooked crumb. No flavour. The potato was packed mix and absolutely awful on both meals and, gravy was bland and not great. I left almost all my meal as it was just unpleasant. My partner who eats anything and never complains, is still complaining about the potato.
We went based on recommendations, Google reviews and how busy they were and left barely having touched our meals because they were terrible. We also didn't bother addressing it with staff after how rude the lady bringing our food was. Really unfortunate this is the experience we had given the reviews.

We met family for a get-together over lunch, and really enjoyed our visit

Our meals arrived promptly, which is a testament to our lovely waitress Kylie, who ran the whole bistro by herself 🏆

The kitchen staff did a fantastic job, as did the sole bar tender who looked after three bars and the gaming area

We found there's plenty of off street parking and some on street parking right out front. Access to the car park, the bistro, bars and rest rooms is easily managed without stairs ðŸ'

For parents of young children, there's an outdoor playground and an indoor play room right off the bistro

Although the marvellous staff managed the number of patrons, we couldn't help feel for them and could see the bistro and bars working more efficiently with an extra person assisting. This would be my only suggestion for improvement, more staff

Such a fantastic experience at the Old Sydney tonight for my dads birthday. I had such a delicious meal, and the rest of the family were also happy. The staff were lovely and a huge shout out to the chef. 😊
