I posted a review that I wasn't happy with the risotto I had recently got (I have been a frequent customer of here for a number of years and Kelly's was always great food over the years). I personally got a phone call from Damien the head chef 2 days later with the offer to have another opportunity to provide the quality I had become accustomed to from Kelly's over the years. Damien had said he recognised my name as I have regularly ordered over the years a lot and he knew that something mustn't have been right for me to say something about it. Damian was so lovely and genuine and said he would love to personally remake whichever meal I would like to make it right. I was really appreciative of this gesture, there are not many businesses that you would get a call from them let alone their head chef who is ran off their feet naturally to offer to make it right.
We organised that I would order it that same night, and Damian wanted to know if i was happy or not with it.
I am pleased to say the eye fillet risotto was beautiful-exactly as it use to be and I got a nice little delicious fresh hot jam donut as well. I called back to express my appreciation to Damien and give the feedback that they were both absolutely delicious and said thank you.
Incredibly impressed with this, now days I wouldn't have expected this at all from any place.
Just as a side note, I have always found that the staff at Kelly's are lovely, I've never had an issue personally (I think sometimes people forget to treat others how you would like to be treated). Kelly's has always had that beautiful old pub feel to it, glad to be able to leave this review, thank you again Damien :)

First time visiting Kelly's hotel and I will definitely be back. Decided to splurge and get the porterhouse steak with peppercorn sauce and couldn't of been happier.

Steak was cooked to the temperature I had asked and seasoned well. The potatoes, carrots and broccolini were cooked to perfection

The only down side was that the tv they sat us next to was so loud we had asked for it to be turned down but it seemingly got louder. Staff were lovely and place was extremely clean.

Small bistro with tables cramped in. Very little room to get past for bar service.
Decor was pleasant but noise levels increased once all tables full.
Meals all very well presented and higher standards to a pub bistro meal.
Meal size is on larger size and hard to finish with prices higher.
Service all excellent and could not fault.

The staff were super friendly. From the lady that took my initial call to the staff on site. Really made me feel welcome and at ease.

Dan the duty manager actually took my order. Really lovely guy.

I ordered the Szechuan pepper calamari for entree and Southern Ranges Porterhouse for main.

Everything came in separate containers and I must admit, I had fun putting the meal together.

Calamari was soft with no stringy bits. Thai green papaya salad was crispy and flavorful.

The vegetables were delicious but omg, that mashed potato was to die for!! My hips were saying "no don't do it!", but the rest of me just wanted to bathe in it. I really enjoyed the heirloom carrots. It was lovely having different coloured carrots. A real treat. Broccolini was tasty too with all that butter. Hips again not happy. Oh well.

I was a bit worried that by the time I got home the steak would be over, but there was no issue at all. That porterhouse was to die for!! It was charred beautifully on the outside. Each mouthful was devine. Even writing about it now has me salivating. 12/10

Would I come back? Definitely!
Do I recommend? Well duh!!

Kelly's hotel has always been my go to spot in the south. Birthdays, anniversaries, friendsary celebrations, name it, Kelly's never fails to capture my foodie heart. I always make it a point to check out the chef's specials and they have never disappointed. Every dish is full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care.

The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is consistently friendly, and it always feels like a place where you can relax and actually enjoy your time, whether it's a special occasion or just a casual catch up. I've recommended Kelly's to so many friends over the years and every single one of them has had a great experience, amazing food, good vibes, and memories worth coming back for.

Definitely a place I'll keep coming back to and proudly recommending. 🩷🩷
