A few months ago I left a 1 star review. I'm changing it to a 5 star because they massively improved their service and the food on the vegan menu is actually vegan now. I had a really good time and enjoyed the food. Service was great.

This is the old review: Ordered vegan risotto. Came out topped with parmesan cheese and looked like it was cooked in butter. You have a vegan menu seperate to your vegetarian menu. The wait staff even double checked that it was from the vegan menu. There's no excuse for this mistake. If you don't want to cater to vegans I could have just had a bowl of chips.

Two of my favourite places in Melbourne. I've lived in Eltham and am always in love with the g trees, the bush and the general environment..I feel this also for the Mernda and Doreen areas in which there are numerous ancient and amazing red gums.
Lots of great cafes and plenty of areas to walk dogs.

First time here. Great band playing upstairs.
A week later we came back again to try Parma night. Parma and a schooner for a reasonable price. 9 or 10 different Parma toppings to choose from. Finished it off with a delicious sticky date pudding. Excellent kitchen and wonderfully serene views of the park outside through the huge windows. The staff were all cheery and helpful.

Had my 50th birthday bash here in the function room upstairs with around 100 people. What a great venue! Manager and staff all so friendly and helpful. Everyone had the best time. Big shout out to Grant the Courtesy Bus driver who displayed such patience with 11 loud and drunk revellers on the 1am run home! I very highly recommend this place.

Had a great meal with friends. Clean tidy & staff were great as well . The location is good as well , great views

Staff need to ensure the gluten-free order gets delivered to the gluten-free person ... it's on their docket in big letters...

We went for dinner with a table of 15. The service was exceptional. The table servers were great with the kids, and very attentive all evening. The menu is more adventurous than most RSLs with the curry's a big hit with our table. We thank the staff at the RSL for making our daughters communion celebration a great night. We will be back.

Love the food at Monty RSL and staff are always helpful and friendly. Our social club had dinner during the week and we had a great night.

I ordered a Caesar salad and it was very dry, about a teaspoon of dressing on the whole thing, the croutons were chucks of bread soaked in oil, I couldn't finish them. The lettuce looked like it was cut the day before, every bit had brown edges, not a very enjoyable meal. I have been here before and had some pasta, very good and the sticky date pudding is to die for. Not sure what was up tonight..

A pleasant afternoon spent here recently at this venue that we have never eaten at before. I had the salmon salad, with the most delicious chunk of salmon I've ever had. Husband had the risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it too. Staff were attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend this bistro.

Great restaurant love the Staffs energy here they are so nice and welcoming and the food is great I had a beef burger and my kids got chicken and nuggets and loved them. The food quality here is so good, I recommend coming here for sure!

What a great place, excellent food in just the right portions. James & Michael were so very accommodating to our groups needs. I loved the ordering system whereby names at the table were used so none of this awkward silence when meals are delivered. Although I live a fair way from this RSL, I'll certainly be back.

Not my first visit here. Ambience very good. Always purchase a Senior's meal. Good variety and never been disappointed. Excellent location. Suggest you give it a try. You will enjoy.

I have been a social member at the Monty RSL for a number of years now. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, they make time for a quick chat throughout the night. Meal portions are extremely generous and tasty. It is comforting in these uncertain times to meet people who care about their customers and always ask after your welfare. The Monty RSL is just the meals, entertaining or the pokies. It is a great place to find a kind word and happy face, meet your friends and share a laugh.

We meet another family here every 1-2 months on a Sunday night. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. The food is generally pretty spot on and the best part, its quite a peaceful place to have a beer and meal.
