Dropped in for lunch. Parma was fantastic but what really stood out was the service. You don't often get sit down table service at a pub anymore. The waitress was so attentive and asked if we wanted another round which she promptly delivered. A great asset to the pub just wish I remembered her name

Walked in with a group, 11 in total. We hadn't booked but there were only a couple of tables with patrons. ( Monday night mid winter and not school holidays) Apologised for not booking as it was a last minute decision and the rude red haired bar tender was the rudest individual I've ever had the misfortune to meet in customer service. The eye rolling and bad attitude made us about face, leave and take our business elsewhere. The one star is for the ease of parking and the blonde waitress who did mutter a covert apology to my sister as we were leaving. We booked a house for the eisteddford and every other shop etc we had been in, had the most pleasant staff. It's an unfortunate end to an otherwise great week in a lovely rural town. I'd check to see what staff are on before walking in.

Arrived late. Check in lady told the restaurant staff to wait for us as we were needing dinner. The meal was Amazing! Simple, fresh and very tasty. Dessert was THE best. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful.
The room was super clean. Bed was very comfortable and no external noise. Only negative was long life milk, but 9 out of 10 for our whole stay. Very highly recommended.

Walked in off the street and asked for a table for 1. Got directed to a seat then had 3 different staff approach me within the first 5 minutes. Ordered the Steak done medium with mushroom sauce with the Churros for dessert. After ordering I realised that my table had not been reset after the last customer and only a single set of cutlery was placed on the table. Churros came first which I asked to be sent back as I had yet to even receive my mains. Mains arrived cooked Well Done with no pink visible throughout the steak. Sauce, chips and slaw were made well. Once finished with my mains, a waiter collected my plates and asked if I was ready for my dessert. 10 minutes later I was still waiting for my dessert to arrive. A different waiter walked past, paused when they saw I was waiting and asked if I was ready for my dessert. I explained that yes I was, I had already informed someone but was still waiting. It took another 5-10 minutes before I finally was brought my dessert which had seemingly been remade for me.

I love getting the Scotch fillet with BBQ sauce. There's something about that BBQ sauce that's just delicious. The fillet is good too, and the chips - maybe a little too much coleslaw instead of chips, but still pretty yummy. It's a great place with great staff. Kinda wished they'd asked if everything was okay though, or if we wanted another drink.

Think we are becoming Mirchell Tavern regulars we see the same regular staff everytime we come up staying with you guys is like catching up with the family .

Food and Room /service always the best.

First time dining in the Bistro. Wanted somewhere to meet with friends where we didn't have to yell to have a conversation. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and attentive. As a local I'll definitely be back.

I'm going say aesthetically this place is nice and on the surface those 18 lunch specials seem reasonable but I would steer clear from them they were a joke. The bowel of carbonara was like an entree size served in a breakfast bowel. I would be embarrassed giving someone that

Had an evening meal on a Wed night.
Parmigiana was the best I have ever had. Thick juicy chicken, napoli sauce that was different to the usual and really tasty and the salad dressing was yum. Compliments to the Chef, he took an Aussie favourite and added his own personal touch.

We had our wedding reception at the Mitchell River Tavern last 4th March 2023.

Stopped in for dinner,didn't have a booking and they were happy to take us ( 2 people ) . I had a steak,it was beautifully cooked,melted in my mouth my wife had a parmigiana,she said it was delicious. But before the main meal,we had Garlic bread,it was more like a cob, I've not had it served like that before,it also came with cloves of garlic in garlic oil and a small bowl of a mixed spice ? And seasoning,delicious as well .
Very happy we Stopped in staff were very friendly and helpful.

My gf and I stayed here for the long weekend and had a great time. Staff were all very welcoming and the meals were delicious and came out quick also there's an extensive selection of wine/spirits to suit anyones preference. Thanks a lot!
Ps - Make sure to go see some koalas on the nearby Raymond island.

Absolutely amazing food and service! I didn't get a steak knife with my filet Mignon, but it didn't matter. It was so tender I used a butter knife. Best steak in town! Highly recommend!

The restaurant here was excellent. I was chatting to the friendly staff who were telling me where all of the ingredients were sourced - and it is pretty much all local. Which means you're getting arguably the best quality ingredients in VIC. Well prepared and just a nice place to have a quality pub dinner, no fuss. Seafood is excellent.

Damn fine oysters sir! Damn fine oysters. The ponzu offering was particularly enjoyable. Paired with the Prosecco; a decadent experience.

Pork belly salad was fragrant, the belly was beautifully light and crisp and a pleasant amount of spice and acid. I paired with a riesling but couldn't help thinking I missed something.???"

I only need a room for 2 nights. I chose the budget room. Unfortunately the mattress was also part of the budget. Other than that room was okay.

We heard good reviews about this Tavern so we (just the 2 of us) went to lunch today for the first time. We were greeted by 2 beautiful smiling faces, showed us to our table, menu and water then coffee orders. Nothing was to much trouble. Coffee was great as was the lunch. You can't go past the $16 lunches. Most places you go to nowadays it cost extra for smiles, but not here. Thank you girls, you made my day.

Full table service from terrific staff, food was great and a good selection of wine to compliment your meal. Only problem, it was hard to find. No sign on the building and we couldn't find any street numbers on any of the businesses. But a very enjoyable evening for a group of 16 people.

Had dinner there tonight , excellent food, service very good, and between entree and main meal there was no rush , nice 15 min break which made us very comfortable . Will go back definitely.

I love this place for date nights. Great, fast service and awesome food and drinks. Only issue for me is the small menu.

Modern room. Excellent friendly staff. Jason and all the staff are always friendly and prompt. Parmas are mad but the brisket will blow your socks off. You might want to consider wearing thongs or a heavy style boot to prevent this. Tomorrow night I'm trying the curry. Standby!!!!

Great short accommodation with great hospitality. The dinning in the bistro was second to none, the steak was tasty and a great dinning experience.

Really great meal!8 of us had dinner at the Tavern last night. We were pleasantly surprised; the food was beautifully presented, the fish was fresh and really tasty and the young woman serving us was great. Id be happy to go back any time.

We had 2 big tables of friends. Its a lovely setting but I would have liked a bit a salad with the fish and chips. Everyone said the same.

The bistro was warm and inviting and the ambience was perfect for a family dinner. The food was absolutely beautiful from entree to dessert. The staff were all super friendly and made the night very enjoyable.

We were greeted by a very welcoming waitress. We were offered water and drinks quickly. My wife and I both ordered the scotch fillet steak with garlic butter and the chefs salad. This was the best pub steak we have ever had by a long way. Our daughter had a park that she loved. Service was amazing to top off a great night.The beer was also second to none.If your after an amazing pub meal in Bairnsdale you cant go past this place
