Had an absolutely wonderful feast here last night at the Grosvenor in Victor. We were a family group of 11 and it had been Atleast 10 years since we had last been here for a meal.
Our time was so enjoyable and that was due to the wonderful atmosphere, the amazing friendly staff and the beautiful food and cocktails ( dessert too😄) that we ordered and were served. We ordered 7 different entrees to share with all of us( the garlic pizza, onion rings and sweet potato wedges were to die for) then all our mains came out in really quick time , which was great. We had four vegans in our group and they chose the eggplant parmigiana which they really loved. The seafood trio, chicken schnitzels, salt n pepper squid and a roast if the day were ordered and every single persons meal was afterwards complimented. I had the roast of the day and I couldn't get over how much pork was put on my plate . It's the most meat I have ever had on a pub roast and it was truly delicious. After mains a couple of us had chocolate sundaes and Cannolis and that finished off the meal perfectly. I would highly recommend The Grosvenor if your after a wonderful dinner experience within a pub that has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Staff are above and beyond. They helped us with a last minute room booking as the property across the road had messed up our booking. Would give them 6 stars if it was possible!

Food was amazing too; fresh, flavourful and generous portions.

Great location and easy access to Granite island and lots of shops and cafes within a walking distance.

Do recommend them.

Wonderful meals in a historic building and comfortable dining room. The food servings are generous and the environment is friendly and relaxed - a great place for family meals, or groups. Of-course, there's also the beach; a left turn along main street, or alternatively a right turn across the railway tracks conveniently both take you to the nearby beach front.

This was a very pleasant dining experience. The staff were 'on the ball' the service couldn't have been better. Great to see young people enthusiastic and enjoying providing great service.The steak was cooked perfectly and arrived in a very timely manner. Well done would recommend to anyone.

Only thing we didn't like was people in the gambling room going past us to the toilets all the time. But when you've got to go...
Steak was absolutely tender and delicious. Just the right amount of chips that actually tasted like potatoes (!) so I think they were house made. Small salad in a bowl made a perfect meal.
Staff were young and very friendly and we were made to feel welcome. 😊

We had an amazing dinner at the Grosvnor, the schnitzel was the best I have ever had, it was so juicy and tender, large size and I can't get over how cheap it was being $15.90 Schnitzel day. The service was impeccable, food came out quick. Im so impressed and will definitely eat here again when I come to visit Victor Harbor

Veggies were over cooked, but, the calamari was outstanding as well as the fish. The chicken snitz was great as well.
Took me back to pub meals of the 80's the way the young fella bought out warm bread rolls with salty, fatty butter. Amazing! I really miss that touch that is missing from hotel service in the modern era.
Probably would have only taken half a star of for the veg, but otherwise we love it (and we're pretty fussy)

We live locally and had lunch there today. Both of us really enjoyed our meals. My crumbed fish was the best I have ever had and my husband really loved his hamburger. We will definitely be having lunch there again!

Absolutely delicious meal - veggies were perfect, roast pork tender, crackling was crunchy.. I'd go as far to say it's the best roast-of-the-day pub meal I've ever had. Cannot recommend highly enough! Will be back for sure next time we are in Victor.

We went for lunch on a Sunday. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff were friendly and helpful. I took a punt, and ordered a bowl of sweet potato chips, thinking I couldn't handle a full meal....it was delicious, but I had to share them around, add the serving was massive!! I would order this every time!!

Didn't stay in place so unsure what rooms are like. We had dinner as they had a special on fish and chips. Fish was awful. Couldn't eat it.

This beautiful hotel has some wonderful memories for me holidaying back when I was young with my family in the school holidays.
Great food and drinks hotel style.

Had an amazing seafood platter here. Never disappoints. Definitely recommend trying this meal. It would actually be enough for 3 people. Loved it

Had a very lovely meal today, we had the chicken schnitzel and the fish, both meals were great, the service off the ladies was fantastic, would thoroughly recommend, we will certainly be back 😋

Had the seafood trio and it was some of the best fish, squid and prawns Ive had. Exceeded my expectations of a 'pub' meal!

Very welcoming staff, great menu, delivered quickly to our table. Delicious meal with dessert. Prices are great. Locals supporting our local hotel.

What a great pub to go to..the staff were friendly, courteous, helpful and accommodating. The meal we had ...seafood platter for 2 was divine,tastefull and filling.The bar staff and floor staff are an asset to this establishment. Charlie was new to his job, and he is a natural for the hospitality industry and his customer service was amazing ...2nd to none. Job well done to all staff. Thank you for a beautiful meal.

I dined in for a good meal with my beautiful girlfriend, unfortunately she was the only beautiful thing about the place, the interior was older then me and probably older then the nursing home patrons that occupied the dining room... I always finish my plate, but not tonight... Terrible.

10/10 the Saturday nights are amazing, full club with amazing DJs after 9pm. Food is great I eat there every weekend, would recommend the snittys. Great location and great staff. Rooms are average but really cheap so can't complain all I could ask is to add air-conditioning.

Service was excellent. No booking but the girl cleaned and set up a table for us. Fantastic prices and a bit of a wait as they were very busy. Food was delicious and worth waiting for. A perfect evening

Would not recommend going to this hotel for lunch, customer service is very poor and the workers are extremely rude.

My partner, toddler and I went there today for lunch today, we ordered simple meals and paid $90 for everything.

After waiting 45 minutes still for our food to come out I went and asked a woman who worked there how much longer our food will take? She said it was an hour wait when we put our order in. It would have be nice to be told there was an hour wait before paying $90 and having a toddler with us well.
We were NOT told there was an hour wait until I went and asked how long our food was going to take after waiting 45 minutes! Very unprofessional for considering the price, stuff had poor communication skills and didn't inform me until I had to asked.

I hope my review helps the hotel improve their customer service skills and you will give customers notice if it's an hour wait on food before talking their money especially $90.

After an hour my son started to get upset because he was hungry, if we knew it was an hour wait. We would have went somewhere else.
Rude service, will never go back there again.

Quite possibly the worst roast I've ever had. I asked of the pork came with crackling. I was told yes. Awesome. Nope. But it did come with dehydrated potatoes and meat. Inedible without gravy. The chicken Kiev my wife had wasn't much better. Don't. Just don't.

Why rely on complaints to provide a semi decent meal?
Is the Chef not testing the food to see how dry it is prior to serving?
What about the crackling? If the service staff are saying the pork comes with crackling what are you doing with the crackling if not serving it to customers...
The staff are working hard but the kitchen is letting them down.

Big thankyou to Gale and Binny (?) for letting us in early as the weather was atrocious. Our room was clean and well made up, both beds fairly firm but comfortable. The bathroom facilities were spotless but very dated and even though there was a DJ that night the noise wasn't too bad in our room. I loved being able to go directly onto the veranda. We also had lunch which was delicious pub food.

Food was good, filling. Friendly service. Basic room at basic price but has so much more potential. More pillows, fluffier doona, few plants etc. Could be amazing.

Sorry, but the meal I had tonight was the worst I've had in 5 years. Your salad is at best, a miserly token effort. We go to other pubs down here who have salad/veg bars/ bread. for same or lesser price.
The water is great if you like chlorinated tap water

On arrival, unable to locate booking, after it was taken via phone 1 hour prior

Then provided the "special" menu for the public holiday. No mention of this when booking. Special menu less than 1/4 of standard menu.

After being provided the special menu, slugged an extra % for the privilege of the short menu

Icing on the cake, the staff, in uniform, sitting at the bar in the bistro, having a beer and wine, shouting and laughing louder than you can talk at your table.

May be appealing to a local, but not for our family.

Lovely meal. Partner had fish and chips and said it was great. I had off the specials board the roast pork and loved it. Will be going back again.

Came while holidaying in Victor. Atmosphere great quiet enjoyed our meal without lots of noise. Service good. Meal was superb.

Always a family favourite whenever we are in Victor. Great food and service from Gail (the younger girls can learn a lot from her), non offensive noises from the poker machines, nice warm fire for the winter months and comfy lounge. Building is showing its age but that adds to the charm. Pity that the train no longer runs. Great cold pale, nice small wine list, small menu well prepared food. Bring back the salad and vege bar as soon as you can.

Partners steak was ordered without gravy. Came with gravy all over it. They offered to "scrape it off". Seriously. Mine was supposed to be medium rare, was under done. Wait staff pretty much ignore you when you arrive. Go somewhere else.

For $40 for a room for a night you can't really go wrong and in terms of the actual accommodation this was pretty much what I expected. However, as a woman staying on her own here I wouldn't really recommend it. The guy at reception called me by the name Jessica Simpson. A customer aimlessly walking around in the bar area made a comment about me being 'better looking than Jessica Simpson', at which point a third male - who worked behind the bar - joined in the conversation. This scenario isn't really a great start to a stay. The man at reception asked for me to confirm my number, and joked about how it wasn't for him. He gave me a key to the room and explained that the second key was to get back in at night in case I wanted to go on a date at night. Such an unnecessary detail/assumption/whatever that was?? He then asked me if I was staying alone and I without even thinking replied no (even though I was) because I now felt uncomfortable with the thought that people knew I was alone in the hotel. Don't get me wrong, it's fine to ask standard questions when checking someone in and to have a chat. But the references to my looks and flirty undertones of the entire conversation are so unnecessary. Safe to say I decided to eat somewhere else and did not have a drink here either. General message: sometimes women just want to check into a hotel. That's literally it. We don't want to be flirted with by a group of men and we don't like it.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The room was very tired and quite depressing. Curtains were too small for the window & hooks were missing. No tea & coffee facilities provided. Not even a glass. No hotel information. We had to find everything out for ourselves. $20 deposit for a remote control. No WiFi. Communal bathrooms were very old & weren't cleaned during our stay. We weren't expecting anything special as the price was reasonable but I've definitely stayed in better for the price. It's a pity as the hotel would have been grand when it was built. Needs some TLC!

Honestly, it wasn't the best and it's quite disappointing because my partner and I were so excited to be staying there -

The room itself needs an update as well as the communal toilets, plus they need to hire around the clock cleaners because it was filthy. The whole night we couldn't go to the toilet because of a huge poo stain. The rooms need mini fridges for water.

The food is pretty good though.
