Despite not having a booking the team in the bistro were able to fit my husband and I in for a Thursday night dinner.

The venue was busy... a sign of things to come!

Great to see a few interesting vegetarian options on a country pub menu. Enjoyed the Buddha bowl and hubby enjoyed the beef and mushroom pie with mash and peas.

We enjoyed a pre dinner drink each and the whole experience was lovely.

Oh so disappointing to be leaving this review. We've eaten at the "Term" at least a couple of times a year for the past few years, and have always enjoyed great food and top notch service from well trained staff. Last night (Friday 4 October) we arrived for our 7pm booking and were rushed through our two-course meal in under an hour. We were only halfway through our entrees when our mains arrived. On politely objecting, we were told by the staff member delivering the plates "it's because we're very busy and you ordered simple mains". At which point he left the plates and disappeared. A few minutes later we flagged down another staff member to order another drink, mentioning what had happened - she made the right noises but didn't actually seem to think it was an issue. Apart from delivering our drinks and clearing our plates that was the last we saw of anyone. No water until asked for. No dessert or coffee offered. On paying, no query as to whether we had enjoyed our meal/evening (the food was more than ok). The restaurant was at least 80% full at 7.15pm, but 40 minutes later it was down to about 25% - so the rush can't have been because they needed to turn our table.
Hope it was just an "off" night.

Stayed here for a business trip for 4 days. Rooms are newly renovated and comfortable. Can't hear anything from the pub downstairs.
The food is delicious that we ate dinner there every night we stayed :) eye fillet steak was cooked perfectly with local wine options to drink by the glass.

Steak was exceptionally good, and my wife also thoroughly enjoyed her chorizo carbonara. Staff were really, really friendly as well, which I respect. Prices are also pretty reasonable. Will return, if I get the opportunity.

Traditional pub which has retained its original features and historical appearance, and has been lovingly maintained over the years. I was very pleasantly surprised by the menu, which had the usual pub staples but also introduced a few modern takes on the classics and wasn't afraid to try something new (the Buddha bowl was particularly tasty and creatively designed). The drinks menu is fairly basic but the bartenders know what they're doing and can deliver good-quality cocktails. Service is always efficient and friendly, though sometimes you feel a little rushed as staff can and will hurry you along if it's a busy night.

Old style pub that is very atmospheric. Excellent food, booking is recommended for the bistro. Food also available in the bar. Calamari was great. Very popular with locals.

What a great pub, beautiful inside and out. Fantastic friendly staff, found me some wonderful Stout Beers, last but not least the kitchen and staff, wonderful food and great service. Cannot recommend this pub enough, it's fabulous.

Went for a few beers and a meal. The pub is quite nice inside. Staff were super friendly, beer was cold and the food was great. I had the lamb salad which was very tasty and large. Could not finish it all. Would definitely return, even if it was just for a beer or two.

I didn't stay here, but I ate and drank here. Very clean, fantastic service and the food is cracking! We had the dry aged steak and the gnocchi ragout brilliant! well done, great selection of drinks, great pub!

Great choice for our overnight stop in Bairnsdale. Food was delicious, service super fast and friendly, and the room itself was a bit small but newly renovated and very clean and comfortable. Great value. Would definitely come back again.

Great service great food! we had to take a doggy bag home for Rover.. next time we'll order half serve.. Was disappointed no signs on their doors to say into here bistro enter here bar no ramp or railing for the disabled or wheelchairs...

This is the place I always try to come visit whenever I am in Bairnsdale.

The food here is absolutely perfect without exaggerating.

I have eaten here multiple times and each time received amazing service and perfectly cooked food featuring local ingredients and a great variety of dishes to choose from.

Tonight I had the pleasure of eating the 500grm dry aged T-bone steak with creamy mash and local greens.
You can tell from my review and video I was extremely satisfied.

They also have an online booking system which I used for the first time and is great for people like myself who don't want to miss the opportunity to come eat here as it can get fully booked out even on weeknights.

Visited the Term on a mid week night, it seemed to be the popular venue with local patrons enjoying a meal and beer after work. Staff were great and very attentive, the menu had a variety of options beyond the pub classics. Cheaper meal prices with a limited selection in the public bar. Will come back again next time I'm in Bairnsdale.

Great allround pub. Decent rooms. Restaurant is excellent. Really good range of food and well priced. Pub area is well set out aswell with a tab/ sports area a couple of small chilled out area's and a good sized gaming/pokies room plus an outdoor area for drinking and smoking. Best pub in town for sure.

Good service and dog friendly outdoor bar. Food looked amazing on other tables, will come back one day to eat there.

So I am travelling to Bairnsdale for business and found this hotel to be very comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly. The food is delicious and the rooms are really great as well. It's in a super convenient location in a beautiful old building. Highly recommend if you need a place to stay, but also if you just need a meal or a pint of beer! Keep up the great work.

Food was amazing, had the bar meal steak and was cooked perfect and was great size for the price. Eat there regularly now!!

I was travelling through Bairnsdale Friday evening & I felt like a steak , I said to a local at Fuel stop , where do I get a good steak he said get around off main street to Terminus if you can get a seat.
I called in and explained I was in a hurry the asian waitress said no tables but if you will put up with in betting? room I think it was we can bring it out, I said yes I want a steak & I will go bar she said I will get both you stay at table she got drink put in my oreder kitchen & brought eftpos to me, best steak I have had for ages & she was super efficient & friendly

Had a fantastic meal, delivered quickly and a great atmosphere. The young lady servicing, our table was absolutely a delight. Food was great. You won't be disappointed!

We come and have a weekly bar meal here regularly... its much quicker than any take away and always delicious!! Would highly recommend. Great service, beer is always cold and beautiful food

The building is beautiful and the service was exceptional and super friendly. We went for the specials ordering the mushroom risotto and the sirloin steak. The food was superb and couldn't be happier, an overall fantastic pub meal. Great value and a lovely country pub experience! Highly recommended if you're coming through Bairnsdale.

We stayed in the King Apartment and absolutely loved our stay. The new rooms are brilliant, very clean, well maintained, all cups, plates and cutlery were modern, classy and added a great touch to the room. Access to the balcony really sets the mood as it's nothing better than unwinding and taking in the fresh air. On the Balcony terrace area the establishment supplies a BBQ which is available for patrons to use.

The complex has a lot to offer, perfect location within the township and other activities like fishing and hiking. Beautifully maintained, clean rooms, modern and a comfortable bed then look no further.

Management and staff should be very proud! We will be repeat customers

Food was great. 15 of us turned up unannounced and the staff were super accommodating. Food was all served together. 500g t bone from specials menu was fantastic.

Beautifully refurbished rooms that are spotlessly clean. Great location to walk to shops/ restaurants etc. Bistro in the hotel serves excellent and reasonably priced meals, many featuring fresh, local produce. Loved our stay here- service was excellent and friendly at all times.

The restaurant is very well decorated with old photos of the city, very cozy, the lady who took our order definitely knows everything about the food on the menu, every ingredient just by listening to her you can imagine how delicious your food will be. Our orders arrived all very delicious and generous portions, I could not finish my plate so I decided to finish it at home for which they provided me with a taper. totally recommended!

Very affordable, staff all worked in sync.
Meals were very generous and well cooked.
Rooms were recently renovated to very high standard.
No NOISE either... Slept so well.
We travelled on the bike and were told they would put our bike in secure car park.

Great room upstairs. Nice pub with good food. Would stay again when in town for business. The view from the room was directly over Bairnsdale Tyre Service which knocks it down a star, but still a good stay all round. Would stay again.

Tried this on the referral from a friend. We ordered the special, a 500g t-bone grass fed steal with cauliflower truffle mash and steamed veg.

It was delicious, and perfectly cooked. The mushroom gravy was also very tasty. There wasn't a scrap left when we were done. The wait staff were attentive, polite, and helpful. We will definitely go again.

Great menu, good service with a smile. Rooms were all being renovated and so will be exciting to see what they look now.

Was pleasantly surprised. Great hotel right in the heart of Bairnsdale. Rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable. Staff were very obliging nothing was a trouble.

We were recommended this place for lunch. Food was excellent and there were a few interesting items on the menu, not just the usual pub grub. A slight mislay of our order but they realised quite quickly (we hadn't noticed) so they brought us a complimentary garlic bread. (Yum) The lady serving us was absolutely lovely. 10/10.

Great bistro. Really nice setting, very friendly staff and great food. Had a medium rare porterhouse and salad with a glass of red. Steak was cooked perfectly all the way through and tasted magnificent. Defintely worth a visit.

We passed through Bairnsdale on our holiday and decided to stay the night and have a meal. We liked it so much that on the way back from our holiday, we stayed again. The rooms are really clean, new, had a big bathroom, and the bed and linen were both very comfortable. We had the basic room initially, and then upgraded to an apartment for the second night. The only thing with the basic smaller room is that ours didn't have a couple of small stools to sit on. No big deal, but it would have been nice. The location is also very central.
The meals on both nights were really good. I especially loved the poke bowl, which they made vegan for me. It was really fresh and tasty. My partner had whiting and then salmon. His dishes were really nice too. On top of that the staff are really friendly, and were switched on and engaging. It's all this combined that made our stay on both nights really nice.
And another tip that topped off both of our stays: Only a short walk away, Cells cafe made us a really breakfast each morning (mine being a very nice vegan breakfast!).

Fantastic menu and dishes, and waitresses knows contents and the origin of their produce. Definitely a restaurant to visit.

Fantastic country hotel! Far exceeded our expectations. Our steaks were quality and cooked perfectly, and the paddock to plate ethos was really awesome, it's great to know that the produce is supporting local. The choice of wines in the restaurant was extensive, and again there were local choices, which were excellent. We'll be back when we're next in Bairnsdale!

The food was exceptional, not your standard "pub' food, very friendly staff. The special, mushroom bruschetta made with local ingredients was exceptional something you might expect in a city top rated restaurant

Unexpectedly excellent food! I ordered bruschetta, expecting the usual tomato but it was mushroom-based and so delicious!Husband had black garlic chicken Kiev and pronounced it a terrific meal. Grand old hotel, refurbished tastefully inside. A must visit in Bairnsdale.

Good customer service. Steak need to be cooked as per customer preferences. It tasted good but not what I wanted as medium well. Their staff response to issues as such was outstanding.

The food was excellent, both in quality and preparation. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff were attentive and accommodating and the service was quick, although we were there for a very early dinner. We just came across the hotel by chance but we will definitely be returning and telling our friends in Melbourne all about it.
