$29 for a chicken meal and they served packet mash potatoe! We were a group of 8 and all the meals were poor quality for the extortionate prices charged. We wouldn't mind the high prices if the food reflected a better quality..... only exception was the ribs and wings for $44 (members price) it was beautifully cooked and tasty.
That being said, we don't plan on going back......much too expensive

This was our first time here. Live music on Saturday night, very pleasant. Food is heavily discounted if you join their membership. With membership pricing food is great value, large meals, especially children's. Felt more like home cooked meals with a higher quality touch. We had dessert/coffee due to quality of the meals and they were also yummy. Definitely will return! They also checked to see if we were happy with everything.

Love this place, the food is amazing, the wait staff as well as the bar staff are so amazing and friendly. Been coming here for awhile and has always been amazing. Highly recommend.

Meals are not what is described in their menu. Boiled chicken instead of char-griiled, steak sandwich had dry old bun, sauce was an oyster sauce instead if BBQ sauce, not worth the prices! Beer on tap had run out! Like seriously is this a pub or a backyard set up!

First and last time will ever go to this hotel. Food was very ordinary. Paid 75.00 for bolognaise, rump steak and garlic bread. Bolognaise was off colour and tasteless, rump was 35.00 and was half inch thick. Asked for medium rare, it was basically well done, how can you possibly cook a half inch thick steak medium rare? Packet chips and the salad was the typical rabbit food lettuce with a few bits of purple onion and a quarter bit of tomato. C'mon for that money you can do a bloody lot better. The garlic bread was the only thing worth eating, we both only ate half of everything.

Absolutely excellent. Great food and all reasonably priced. Staff were run off there feet, but still managed great service with a smile. Highly recommend ??'?.

Our first time there after attending a service up the road. 7 at the table all with different meals. Anybody would think we licked the plates clean! Awesome food, reasonably priced and very pleasant staff. 5 stars guys, very well nice indeed.

Great lil family pub. Food was delicious. Ribs and Rump great price. Alot of good food on the menu board but unfortunately i could only get one thing. So definitely going back. Staff were nice always smiled.

Been pretty disappointed with the food here lately. Used to be a great pub to come to with great deals but not now. It feels very expensive and the food is pretty average at best unless you want a steak

Easy 5 star. Stopped in for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised.

Hadn't been to The Gem for many years and when I saw a good review about it ,I thought I'd give it another try.Great atmosphere from the moment I arrived..Sat outside in covered verandah..I had the special of the day,Beef burgundy wellington ..Was perfection ..Also had the Baked Camembert with chilli sauce for entree,just devine..The menu looks great and I'll be back for sure..

Reasonably new to the area, first time for lunch & impressed. Country pub feel, outstanding cleanliness throughout I noticed & food was delicious. Membership card wasn't produced in time to obtain discounts on first visit ???" but hope to use it next time.

Just like it's name - a gem. Staff friendly and welcoming. Food is wonderful. We had Atlantic salmon and a small garlic prawns. Good range of wines. Situated not too far from the hustle and bustle of the Gold Coast it is easy to get too and we will definitely be back. Free membership will get you great discounts.

We have been members of the Gem hotel for 5+ years but haven't been for awhile. Wanted a nice steak meal, not a good steak selection now and very pricey. When the meal arrived the 'tender' filet mignon (as written on the menu) was tough and very small for the price they charged, also questionable on whether it was the correct cut of meat??
(What they didn't realise was the gentleman I was dining with was an ex chef, so he would know)
Very disappointing as they used to be value for money as well as great meals. If they are going to charge top prices, the meals need to match - not top price for a sub standard meal.
Unfortunately we won't be back.
There needs to be a big improvement for the Gem restaurant to be at the same standard that it used to be.

It's like a country pub.. that's not really in the country.. ? has multiple areas. Has an old rustic feel to it. Has an outdoor area for rodeo?? Or whatever else that may go on there. Was very busy day I was there.. friendly staff and patrons

Thank you so much for the most beautiful Seafood meal I had there today at lunch. The Mussels Prawns fish and the sauce was out if this world. Top marks to your chef and your staff go beyond the best. I will certainly be back. Top marks to you all.

LOVE this little Gem at Alberton. Not far off the highway from the Yatala exit just up the road from Yatala Drive-in. The atmosphere was great, particularly as it was a Sunday with live music. Squeeling Pig Sauv Blamc at a reasonable price $32 for the bottle. My group were happy with their meals in general, however, could be more generous with the toppings for the nachos and more than only one pepperoni per slice of pizza for a Pepperoni pizza was disappointing. The staff are friendly and good to see the place well staffed and not understaffed. Oh and there were a number of meat raffles which is always a bit of fun. And you can become a member too!
I definitely will be back!
BONUS: Ford classic cars were having a run and ended up there. The place ticks so many boxes!

Really excellent service. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Food was terrific and well presented. Even the piercing squeal of the child on the next table didn't spoil our enjoyment . Looking forward to our next visit.

Fab place to eat, its always clean and the food here is 10/10. I was a bit disappointed they changed their menu but i understand that they need to cover their costs. Happy to pay that little bit extra and get a really decent pub feed. Also the membership program gets you discounts which is awesome. Best pub in the area.

They put on a Melbourne cup lunch which was outstanding. We ordered a seafood plater. Hot and cold, enough food for the 3 of us. Very tasty. Everything was fresh. Bugs, prawns, oysters. We have stopped in now and then over the years for lunch and dinner. Food has been tasty each time.

Have never had a bad meal! We love meeting up with family for a catch up and meal at The Gem :) .. Also a special mention to one of the most friendly Waitresses (though I feel I will get her name wrong, Phoebe) - I will come and correct when I find out correct name. oops

Recently visited for lunch, was pleasantly surprised with the food menu, catered well for a vegetarian. Meal sizes are large and I was able to take my leftover pizza with me. Really nice atmosphere and enough space for parking.

Great steak and ribs. Customer service was excellent. Staff were eager to please and help. Worth a visit for a great meal.

Cute little pit stop, refreshing beers, awesome food! The staff were so friendly, they came and asked if we were enjoying our meal too.

Our food was amazing. Nice and quick. Friendly staff. Great "bush" pub. 1 friend did complain there lamb shanks were a little on the cold side but otherwise any amazing place to eat.Best Pizzas around and a great price!

Solid pub. Meals and drinks were great. Five stars for a pub is a rarity from me so a four is really good. I had baby Barra for father's Day. Was a really good feed. Missus had the confit pork and she loves it. In hindsight I should have bought one of the muscle shirts but at least I got a couple of coolers. Keep up the great work!

Top meals on a Friday and so quick,$15. Pension meals .
