Today was the first Melbourne Cup where nothing happened. Being promised prizes for best dressed and best hat saw disappointment as nothing was mentioned. Very disappointed at mine and the locals expectations were nowhere near met or even cared about.

The housekeeping was a bit pushy check out his 10:00 and they were walking into my room at 9:30 why we were asleep after knocking even though I had a disturb sign up there shouldn't be entering the premises until at least 10:00 and then they were very very pushy there but they were excellent nonetheless the reception was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend it just based on the reception alone and the workers that the cleaning stuff but I will note that the client the staff are the cleaning staff were very very on point very clean very thorough but very very ready to get us out of their

I am a cat (black domestic short hair) and my name is Mickey. This pub is real old school hasn't seen a lick of paint in 30 odd years. But it wasn't too bad they gave me service which a lot of pubs don't after I sprayed on their pool table. Just had 2 pints of Guinness and left. Before I left I took a dump behind the pokies. They didn't seem to mind and there wasn't a cat litter tray and I wasn't going to go outside or wait till I got home. Meow Meow.

I just had the most wonderful week long stay at Chardons, and it well and truly deserves a 5 star review! As a woman travelling alone, I was a little daunted by staying in "pub" accommodation on a Main Road, but let me tell you, it was nothing like I was imagining! The rooms are modern, exceptionally clean and are actually quite spacious. You'd never know you were on a Main Road, as the accommodation was super quiet, the bed was ridiculously comfortable and fresh towels and bottled waters were provided every day. The staff are what really topped my stay off, they were kind, caring and courteous and I want to thank them so much. I would not hesitate to recommend Chardons to anybody and I would happily bring my husband and kids there for a stay too!
