don't go there, we had bed bugs in our room! They washed our clothes for us but no other compensation even though we only stayed there one night. They didn't even apologize, I'm especially thinking of the girls at the reception. I hope they cleaned the room well for the next arrivals. But the view is magnificent and the food was good.

Food was average, scallops over cooked, frozen squid and sticky date pudding was below average. Dated pub which needs to improve, seafood in a town like St helens should be a1 but it wasn't. Maybe other food will be better.on a plus staff where wonderful.

Bayside hotel is an incredibly unique experience.

The wet carpet of room 306 was a nice surprise when I walked into the room. Nothing says 'welcome' like a moist sock.

The bathroom itself was interesting too. Anyone taller than 5'11 will feel like a giant in a hobbit house whilst they squat to wash their hair.

The cherry on top were the extra roommates we got acquainted with that night. These bedbugs were so friendly that they decided to snuggle up all over us.

When asked whether we could swap rooms (because we could see room 303 was available through the open window) our lovely receptionist/bartender kindly said - Im sorry but no.

Don't worry guys, it wasn't so bad, my wife and I just decided to spend the night sleeping in the car in the pouring rain instead. It's not like we needed a good nights sleep before our drive and hike to see wineglass bay tomorrow.

I don't think anyone is expecting any resemblance of good service from a budget motel - but at the very least, 220 AUD a night should get me a nights sleep without catching some filthy bug

Tasmania - come down for dissatisfaction.

I was travelling with a group of artists and we were painting the fabulous scenery of the St Helen's area. The Bayside was comfortable, with a very good bathroom and where my room was, 'the dress circle', I had fantastic views looking out on boats moored and a rugged headland in the background. There were plenty of restaurants, a good coffee outlet and shops handy. The Bistro at The Bayside provided a good breakfast and the evening meal there was enjoyable - Lamb Shanks.

I had a quiet and comfortable night on this very well located pub in beautiful downtown St Helens.
Check in is at the main bar, and the staff were really helpful and responsive. I wanted secure parking for my motorcycle, and they found me a great undercover spot near the surveillance cameras.
The rooms were large and very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. I had the town view room, and it looks old like the bay view rooms were even nicer.
I had dinner in the pub - nice staff, cold beer but unremarkable food. There are lots of great choices here in St Helens and next time I will try one of the other restaurants.
All in all, a nice and convenient place.

- Good location. The hotel is situated on the edge of Georges Bay @ St. Helens.
- The room we chartered comes with a TV and coffee/tea making facility and a microwave oven.
- Our room is bay view room on the 1st floor and accessible with lift and stairs.

Good location and food, toys for kids, plenty of parking and perfect for an afternoon stroll.
Walls are paper thin, frustrating having to listen to inconsiderate guests next door every time we've stayed.

Long wait times to line up and order food, to then be told you need to line up separately to order drinks. Above average prices for below average food. The oysters in the kilpatrick ones seemed as though they had been cut in half and then disguised with a lot of bacon. The pepper gravy tasted like water, it was thickish but clear.

Went there tonight for dinner, food was great just the gravy was a little watery. Meal sizing were decent, price was completely reasonable. We order 4 mains and 2 kids meals and food was out before the kids even had a chance to say they were bored and hungry and that's pretty quick. Staff were absolutely fantastic. Recommend with you want good classics pub food with a smile.

Great service, friendly and a lovely location. Porterhouse steak was probably the worst I have ever eaten. Over cooked, leathery and dry. Parmie and kids meals were great. Do not order steak from this place, beyond the cooking abilities. Sorry to be harsh but true.

$189 per night - a bit pricey imo but decent and my guess is this was a recently renovated new room. There's a family bistro here too so you don't have to worry about your meals! Fantastic location - just one minute walk to the beach and there's a bottle O shop right next to the hotel. I love how the soaps and shampoos are filled up ones so it's more environmentally friendly but they forgot to fill up our body wash 🌚 hair dryer and ironing board is available and there's a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and TV available. Bed is good and comfy! Check out is at 10am. It's not super sound proof - you can still sometimes hear people from next door.

We didn't stay here, but had a beautiful Christmas Day lunch.....food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The tables and decorations were beautiful. Well done Bayside for giving us a special celebration.

Accommodation here isn't great for the price, without a doubt the most uncomfortable bed I've ever been in. Rooms aren't insulated against noise in anyway & the balcony was covered in just about every cigarette butt that has ever been smoked out there. On the plus side though the staff deserve recognition happy, pleasant, helpful & attentive. Food was nice enough as well.

I often have overnight stays here and have always found the staff very pleasant and helpful. I have not had a bad meal at all. Some people expect 5 star restaurant food at pubs, but it's a pub and good bang for for your buck!!

Great location and friendly staff. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious and very reasonably priced for 3 people. We weren't however advised that construction was going on and there was no lift or parking - would have been great to be advised in advance. Overall, a pleasant overnight stay and a great entry point for Bay of Fires.

Reviewing For Meals & No Accommodation

Worst meals I have had in a long time, packet gravy, dry salad ingredients and all around just really average. No effort or any care taken with the meals,

Also a huge congratulations for not considering your local surroundings, really frozen packet calamari / squid

You have the ocean across the road, you would be the only one in Tasmania to have to rely on packet frozen calamari

Have some respect for your customers and make a little more effort

Booked in for dinner, found the dark haired lady behind the counter rude and extremely commentary with her facial expressions about the meals I ordered, no need for eye rolling or raised eyebrows. Felt like customer service was the least of her concern, actually all staff were pretty terrible except the tall young blonde haired lady who seemed to enjoy her job and being there. The food came out quickly but the gravy was absolutely disgusting, very watered down, tasteless. The steak was over cooked and the prawns and scallops the same, dried out and awful after taste. Huge disappointment and not at all worth the money we spent there. Would never eat here again.

FANTASTIC! Clean budget room & food was amazing. Khan & Jennifer are so welcoming & accommodating. Can't wait to see the place once the upgrades are completed. I found a few reviews a little misleading as the description for the property is very transparent (stairs, parking right across the road etc) photos are exact & yes a little outdated but very clean (is a budget hotel)! We were very impressed with our stay. 100% we will be back!

Beautiful little sea side town. The hotel is located right next to the water adjacent to a nice park. The staff are friendly and bistro serves hearty food. The rooms are clean but needs some work.

Why this hotel was good...
Worth $100 (2 adults 2 children) a night
Pool was fine
Room was well maintained
Heater was perfect
Spacious room (18)
Nice location

What this inn needs fixing in...
I would really prefer pool heating
A microwave
And water heating

Overall I loved the one night stay here and would come back. This hotel deserves five stars.

~Easter long weekend visit
I've been in mixed minds about this review due to it being at a busy time of the year but it has to be mentioned
Hotel was understaffed from the moment we entered in all areas
Some staff were on phones while others are running to best serve customers couldn't see much team work happening lovely service in some areas but others not so much considering it was during meal times the dining room should have had priority but staff were doing best they could
Meals took a little while to come were huge in size but wasn't what actually ordered a lady was happy to fix that problem
When you have a business your best assets are your staff if your staff aren't happy then your business will not rise happy staff are helpful staff and are willing to go the distance for the customers
I wish the staff well wishes in what ever the futures brings to them and even though we could clearly see how upset you were you still managed to smile and your customer service was amazing

If you like getting ignored by staff and funky smelling rooms, book a night here. The young guy was their redemption as he was decent enough to stop a conversation and help us check in. The bed was ok but the room smelt. An ok base but not if you're used to something more classy. The Wharf restaurant over the road was good though.

Great place, lovely service in the bistro. Would love if the bar stayed open past 9oclock on a Friday and Saturday though as there is no where else to go in the area, and some live music or karaoke would be fantastic. Also wouldn't t hurt some of the bar staff to smile.
