Customer Review

Happy with dinner and dessert from here. We thought it was cheap (though we are city folk) and happy with the meals. Lamb shank fell off the bone so have to be happy with that. Really does have the old RSL look going for it, but still was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was.

Attended Tuesday night after a public holiday and there were very limited options available for dinner. Ordered Chicken Parma and Fish and Chips. Meals took a while to come out even though it was not busy. Fish was over cooked and dry whilst the chips were luke warm at best. The staff were friendly but the standard of food was well below what I would usually receive from an RSL. Very disappointing.

Went for dinner tonight, had a reservation and ordered within 10 minutes of arriving. Meals did not come for 1hr 40 mins after ordering. Ordered vegetables but received chips instead. Steak was asked medium but came well done. Standard feed but wait time was disappointing

Although on first look the meals look like typical pub/club fare they are in fact very very tasty and top notch. Served by very friendly team. Don't let the daggy fit out put you off. A great value feed.

On a cold windy spring evening I alighted on the doorstep of the RSL because I was weary, cold and seeking a relaxed meal.
It is like most town RSL clubs in ambiance.
The staff were fantastic. Warm personalities for strangers and made sure a good meal could be enjoyed.
The seafood basket caught my eye and for a great price, I have paid a lot more for something that was barely edible but this was fantastic. There were prawns, calamari, scallops and fillets of fish. The chips were a great crunchy treat along with a fresh and refreshing salad.
There were more fancy restaurants with overly elaborate descriptions of a dining experience (and for a significantly more steeper price). The RSL is a place all should frequent for an honest delightful dining experience. Thank you ladies in the restaurant.

Visited on a Tuesday evening a quiet time. Food wasn't much to write home about. It wasn't that there was not enough but quality did not deliver. Would not recommend.

Came here nine years ago for the best Parmi I've ever had and I've had a lot. The Parmi was still just as good BUT the scallops that the miss's had were the best we've had so far on our trip all over Tasmania. Don't go the Bridport for scallops, definitely come to St Helen's RSL. Great staff and excellent service too.

We frequent the RSL club often only so many chances I will give and We will not be wasting our money again at the club.

Saturday night a group of 4 came in for tea
Wasn't overly busy but we waited near an hour for our meals
When the meals came out 2 serves of battered scallops were burnt, oily just absolutely disgusting we did receive our money back on these 2 meals
Bangers and mash portion size was 2 sausages and a small portion of watery mash potato with gravy of some description
Curried scallops with a watery mash which I left on my plate
This wasn't just our concern at the club but others were complaining about meals plus leaving without finishing meals due to them not being able to eat it

A group of people walked in at 7.45pm walked over to see if they were open most likely due to the roller being half way shut and must have been turned away as they walked out after speaking with the male cook

What I seen was burnt pizzas and other meals still on tables before I left myself noting that the female cook was then sitting at the bar drinking an alcoholic beverage at 7.50pm

I thought the kitchen closed at 8pm shouldn't last orders be taken at 8pm and then roller shut

Staff in the kitchen were just standing around talking rather than working for at least half an hour
Staff in the bar were eating and using a tea towel to wipe nose and mouth then serving then going back to eating

I do not recommend eating here until the place has new kitchen staff that know how to cook

First time in St Helens, so we didn't know where to eat. My family chose the RSL assuming we would have several meal options at a reasonable price. We decided on the seafood chowder that cost $22 each and waited for 30mins to receive what tasted like a lumpy white sauce, absolutely tasteless, with NO seafood whatsoever in it... very disappointing.

We went to the RSL for a comedy night there was no service. One lovely hard working girls was running around trying to serve everyone while two other barmaids stood in the doorway of the back room talking. We were angry and appalled. They need work staff like the hard working girl think her name was Maree and sack the others. Won't be going back

Called up & made a reservation. Was told that the only available time for a table of 2 was 6.30pm. Arrived and spent 5 mins trying to find somebody to ask which was our table. (There's nobody on the door when you arrive to sign in.) Finally found a waitress who said they were fully booked. Explained that we had a reservation. She replied again that they were full.
I understand that things happen, but perhaps don't bother taking reservations. And it would have been nice to receive an apology.
