The room was spotless, great bathroom and comfortable bed. The bistro served great basic food that had not been smacked with the Masterchef stick.
For anyone using the Spirit of Tasmania, this is a great motel to stop at as it is very close to the ferry terminal. I highly recommend this motel.

Breakfast at the Argosy is yum. The rooms are comfortable, clean with a separate toilet and walk-in shower. The staff go the extra mile to make visitors welcome which is refreshing. It is close to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal which is a real plus. Their bistro has a wide menu, so book!

Brilliantly located for staying and catching the Spirit of Tassie day crossing ferry (leaving early morning) but we actually spent 3 nights here and enjoyed the stay as well as the convenience on crossing day. Room was a good size with big bathroom. Great TV and Wifi and also Laundry facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant had great food. Highly recommend this place.

I had a good time staying here, the room was good and like a home away from home. I was able to setup my laptop and watch streaming on there. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good.

Good place to stay the night. Recommend it.

This is a perfect place to stay once you get off the ferry. The management obviously deal with late arrivals and communicated with me via SMS to inform me of what to do. The venue adjoining the motel is a small pub. The kitchen closes at 8 pm, so we got there just in time. A good selection of options to choose from and a salad bar to those who take that option. A great view of park and river across the road. The room is well furnished and the bathroom facilities are also well maintained and have modern appointments. You can order a breakfast to your room if that's your choice. We slept well and thoroughly satisfied.

Had a lovely meal with family and friends it was a larger group well looked after all meals served together everyone was happy with their food and the service.

Booked in for 3nites @quite a reasonable price. Very helpful, proffesional & friendly service from reception. Upon arriving, Needed to change booking & cancel 2 nights. The level of friendliness & warm attitude from reception didn't falter, and a refund was gladly given. The rooms are almost the size of a small apartment, & though it's obviously an older establishment, have been crisply updated, and perfectly cleaned & presented. Comfy bed.
The service from the barmaid, when ordering a meal, & from the waitress were all of the same proffesional, warm & friendly impeccable standard. Quick, efficient & attentive. I've stayed at plenty of supposed 5star hotels & resorts, who could take a leaf or two from the Argosy motor Inn book of hospitality. Absolutely worth 5stars. Thankyou so very much. Not only economical but a distinctive cut above in the way of service across every aspect.

Staff were very welcoming, quick checkin and they even upgraded us to a nicer available room which was a pleasant and comforting surprise travelling with an infant! Stayed only for a night, so couldn't take advantage of the nice bistro - next time!

Lot of roadworks going on so was very dusty. A1 to motel room cleaners. Food is excellent, lots of for a reasonable price with doggie food safe container offered. Salads have a good variety. Well done management and all who make this wonderful motel. Look foward to my next stay in5 weeks.

After 3 weeks touring Tasmania and hotel hopping, the Argosy was one of best we have stayed in, fantastic modern king room with everything you need, not that you would need all the facilities as the bistro has excellent firsts class meals at very reasonable prices even better for seniors.
Don't hesitate to try the bistro or the overnight stay before heading to the Spirit of Tasmania.

Easy access. Rooms are clean. Very basic but it's sufficient as we only stayed a night. Super close to the Spirit of Tasmania so it was convenient. Short drive to some very nice cafes where you can get delicious breakfast.

Location is good. The Bistro provided good food. And overall the staff were friendly. However, having asked for two rooms on ground floor (because 3 people used mobility aids) we were informed that a room had been moved and it was now upstairs. For our troubles we were given a free meal and a shrugged apology. Not really good enough given the circumstances

Good little stop-over hotel in Devonport. Not the most picturesque surrounds but the hotel room we had was nice and the bistro next door was very handy with nice food. I wouldn't stay here for a long time but it was great after coming off the boat from Melbourne. Staff were lovely.

Family rooms were clean, comfortable and appeared recently renovated. We had a nice stay.

We stayed at the motel after getting off The Spirit of Tasmania. The rooms were nice and clean, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. The ship got in late and they even kept the bistro serving till all people had checked in to the motel and ordered. The food was really great too.

We celebrated my 9 year old daughters Birthday Party Lunch at the Argosy Bistro today.
The staff were absolutely amazing, in particular, I definitely need to shout out to Sue in the Bistro who went above and beyond for our group. Sue treated our large group with a high level of respect, friendliness, care and service that is rare within most similar establishments. She even lit the candles on the birthday cake and carried it to our table at the end of our meal. Staff made our daughters day easy for us and fun for her.

The two occasions that I have stayed in the Argosy accommodation has also been a great experience. Clean functional rooms at a good price, with friendly staff.

Very nice room overlooking the river, just minutes from the ferry terminal, so was fantastic for us after a tiring 10 hour trip across the pond. Decor and bathroom are very modern and stylish.

The room is big and comfortable! We loved the space and the cleanliness of the rooms. The location is great too!

The staff are very friendly and helpful, nice and clean room. The only thing was a bit of noise from the main road. Good value for your money compare to other motels/hotels.

1/5 for the food though the waitresses are all lovely.
$15 for a cheese pizza, PFD bought pizza base with mozzarella cheese isn't worth that much.
$8 for the salad bar would have been worth it had the salad bar had anything good in it.
Pasta salad and coleslaw worse than those at Coles.
Kids love the playground

Sadly we have visited The Argosy Bistro for years and enjoyed very reasonably priced meals but tonight was very disappointed with the service . Whilst we received 2 of the sweets ordered leaving one sweet to be delivered we were questioned very rudely and publically that we only ordered 2 then went through our order at the table quite loudly. The order would have been easy to check on the register and price paid but no asked to produce receipt. On stating our disappointed another staff member came out waving a five dollar note at our face...we refused as felt insulted and left.

Staff was great, from check in to check out! Super friendly and helpful. The room was also really good: firmer bed, clean, heating and incredibly quiet (specially considering the location). And on the location, also not bad: a couple of minutes drive from the cbd and right beside a bottle-o.
Big shout out to Cassie at the breakfast room for the great service!
Argosy Motor Inn is an easy recommendation if you're in Devonport.

Fantastic location, very nice modern room with everything we needed for our stay. The location is so handy to the shops and city centre. We would stay here again for sure, well done.

I would like to begin by refuting Joanne Boachi's review from the same night we arrived. We also arrived late after midnight on the ferry that had been delayed due to a storm. We called Argosy to secure a room and let them know our situation and they were very accommodating, sent our late arrival information as promised, and we had no issues checking in. I'm not sure whether the wires were crossed for this other customer but our process was seamless.

Parking was tight when we arrived so late, so we chose a spot somewhat near our room. Unfortunately another customer arrived just behind us, presumably from the same ferry. She came over and aggressively told us we were in "her spot" and that she had TWO cars. We explained that there were no designated spots and our confirmation email also stated this ("plenty of parking available but spot number not guaranteed"), and that there was no spot open near our room. She continued to argue with us and became quite aggressive and nasty about it. My husband offered to move our car for her as we weren't interested in a motel car park fight in the middle of the night, as we find that behavior a bit low class. She replied "YEAH, GOOD IDEA".

Anyway, after being told by this woman a few times to "shut up" and that I "obviously can't read", she got her "assigned" parking spot in the end, and presumably woke up a few sleeping patrons next door. To those innocent parties, I apologize. To the rude Karen, I say good on you for being the only rude Aussie I have met in 6 months here.

Anyhow, perhaps it would be useful for the motel to paint over the numbers on the car spaces to avoid a similar interaction in the future, for those who choose to ignore the information provided in the booking confirmation. It left a bad taste of an experience for an otherwise lovely motel.

The room was modern, well-equipped, and very comfortable. If you don't have to interact with any mean spirited and entitled customers then it will make a lovely stay!

Was very busy but got our meals quite quickly given how busy they were. A good feed but left some.

This is a hidden gem. Rooms recently renovated and the bistro meals and breakfast are of excellent quality and HUGE. I would highly recommend this place. Did I mention the fantastic bistro...

Beautiful meals, great service, clean and tidy, great to take children too, love the Battered Scallop, Garlic Prawns & Finished with Banana Split.....Great Waitresses
