The food here was the best. The burgers and pie were cooked perfectly. No complaints. We were her for a family catch up dinner .

Probably one of the worse meals I have ever been subjected to. We were in a function room where my granddaughter was performing in her ballet concert. Meal was served at interval. First of all 3 yr old granddaughter was served a meal that can only be described as a senior citz meal. Tough roast beef with soggy roast potatoes. She was in tears, expecting at least a couple of chips and maybe nuggets, which other children were being served. Nor allowed to swap as it was a beef/chicken service....are you kidding me, on what planet do children get served a roast. Ended up buying her a serve of chips from the bar next door as the kitchen would not provide her any. Adult meals followed .... a larger serving of the children's meals. Our table was served first and the table next to us took another hour before they go their meals. Not worth waiting for. Beef or schnitzel, surely we have passed that stage in gourmet delights in the 2020s. They should be ashamed of the quality of the meal they served

A fantastic place to celebrate a basketball break up. The food and staff were great. The meals came out fast with all the kids being first. The kids enjoyed the play area

Out on date night and was placed on a bar table in the corner of the pokies which didn't make sense however when asking a change they were happy to change us next to the fire place. Partner wanted a mocktail which they don't have on the menu but she was more than happy to make something up for her. Which was lovely service. Burger was a smash hit too would recommend - will be back and happy that a little flexibility change our whole experience there ☺️

Great family environment with a safe playground inside and also one outside too in an enclosed courtyard.
We are regular customers and the food never disappoints, always delish and served in a very reasonable time frame. There is usually about 7 of us, and the meals always come out together. Also impressive is that the kids meal's are served first. I highly recommend this Bistro, it really is one of our favourites.

Had a booking for dinner tonight and it was cancelled due to my husband is Christmas party that they were kicked out and refuse to be served after a certain time as I booked a table for 4. I got there after 5 o'clock and he was he told me that they got kicked out and they were kicking out. People absolutely disgrace. I'll never go there again the manager of collective was rude and obnoxious to them. I understand if they were doing something wrong, but they weren't. I would not recommend to go there to York on lilydale collective

Greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff (I wanted to go for a run in the morning, and they knew the local tracks), I arrived at this perfect location.....directed to my spacious light filled room overlooking the trees and lagoon. After heading up the road for some Thai at 'Romo Thai' Mt Evelyn, I returned and wandered down to the bar, sitting in the outdoor area where I enjoyed my complimentary drink. Finally, back to a comfy bed to a quiet nights sleep.... awoke to the sound of birds, a light rain (no run!), bit of breakfast, and checked out...Thank you 'York on Lilydale', I will be back. Note though - If you want to eat at the Bistro, book early.

I live in the area and frequent this place a lot.
It can get very busy at main meal times but my kids absolutely love the bistro and the kids meals always come out quickly. If you are someone who just wants some quiet time with your significant other with a couple of drinks before your meal comes out it's perfect.
The meals are great with respectable pricing considering today's inflation.
The staff are friendly and accommodating and love to hear feedback.
I haven't tried The Collective over the other side but I'd love to soon.

Stayed for one night only. Rooms were lovely and clean. Bed super comfy but the best part of the stay was the amazing staff that looked after us for dinner. Food was fresh, hot and delicious 😋 Thanks for a beautiful meal and for the staff who all smiled and made us feel so special! We will definitely be back ðŸ'

Room was good. Was nice and clean. Breakfast really let this place down. I have never seen scrambled eggs that were just scramled dry fried eggs. Was horrible.

never have I ever seen such a level of unprofessionalism and such utter disrespect from this hotel from hell this hotel has alot to learn and alot to answer for two customers I know we're argued with booked a room when they got there they were told that wasn't there room when they had the key card to that room they both had to struggle up the stairs as 1 of the customers has a walker and were made to wait around at midnight when the arguing continued the hotel staff told the customers they can sleep in their car and they will go home. the waiting continued for another room to be organised finally they got another room but when they got there the room was dirty and used and they were told they would need to pay more money if they were going to come to the room late a warning for all never stay at this hotel

Great place. Food was good. Welcome drinks were greatly appreciated (booking direct required). The only real negative was wifi reception in the accommodation rooms was very poor. Staff were helpful. 10% discount on meals was nice too for guests staying there.

BISTRO: Cheerful greeting on entry, ample choices to choose from, great food and generous serves for a Seniors Meal. I've now made it my regular stop when I'm 'out and about' and dread the thought to then go home and prep/cook a meal. All staff are wonderful but Josie is my favourite, she's a 'stand out' - not just for her coloured hair.

As for my recommendation: I highly suggest the York Parma - if you're a fan of avocado, bacon and hollandaise sauce!

On Monday 4th September 2023 I went to the bistro for Lunch with Denise and I had the 250Gram Glaziers Rump Steak and Chips with a glass of lemonade with raspberry cordial, which was cooked to perfection. Denise had the Pumpkin Soup with a piece of Garlic Bread with a glass of water, which she really enjoyed as well.

Meh! No explanation of where/how to order. No menus were given & my wine glass smelt like a dog wash. My husband was almost finished his meal before I received mine which was a salad!!. It only came when we complained. The salad I ordered was underwhelming, tasteless and not what the menu stated. No pistachios , no pomegranate molasses and the pumpkin was undercooked. Average on all levels.

Had dinner in the bistro and it was disappointing. Massive meal sizes. Food quality ok but average. Yummy chips! But the service was terrible. They messed up the order. Sent out food as starter when it was for a main which then they put under a heat lamp but it wasn't hot when served later. Then made errors in taking the order and charged us for and sent out food we didn't order. They didn't let us know the kitchen was closing (early for dinner!) so no option to have dessert. No excuse as the place was so empty so super quiet. Not great atmosphere. Feels more like a school canteen.

Much nicer to eat up the other end in the pub / bar. Bistro not great.

The facilities here were so beautiful, clean and abundant in offerings. We were invited to an engagement/30th birthday in the lovely function room, traveling from NSW, and we're so pleasantly surprised on arrival at seeing the large hotel, drive through bottle shop, restaurant as well as function room and pokies lounge and bar. The stunning outdoor area with gazebo and pool was spacious and aesthetically pleasing. Looking back at the oversized doors and huge atrium windows with charcoal steel and wood paneling was a design treat. Though we came in the middle of winter the idea of spending some time in summer here has us joining the Night Cap group accommodation list, offering us 10% off our next stay also!
Thank you to the staff that managed the function and a special thank you to Laura who was so lovely and helpful on reception, answering our many questions with a smile.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this venue for a wedding, family reunion or any other special occasion, with so much accommodation to cater for large groups from out of town to come together.

Had dinner for 7 people there at the bistro on the 7th of June for my daughter's 18th. Food was lovely, reasonable and quick and our table on the corner was quite private. Only negative point was the bartender did not know how to make hot drinks ....sorry the hot chocolates X 3 were terrible.

Had an amazing dining experience at York on Lilydale. Their chicken Parma was absolutely delicious, with tender chicken, flavorful toppings, and a perfectly crispy crust. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel truly valued. The cozy atmosphere and reasonable prices added to the overall appeal. I highly recommend this place for an incredible Parma and excellent service

We had booked 19 rooms as we had a wedding, the customer service leading up to the stay was fantastic and the food at the sports bar tasted really good. The only problem we had was we got a cleaning bill due to glitter on the floor (from the wedding dress), we understand that there was a bit of mud through the room as we had a lot of our guests in our room the night of the wedding and there is no door mat between outside and in the room, but besides that the stay was great and I would still recommend it.

Really enjoyed staying here. Scenic views from the balconies of the nightcap rooms with ducks and cockatoos providing the entertainment. The pub/restaurant has a sports section, ample outdoor seating, reasonable beer prices and great food. Bonus live entertainment on a Sunday afternoon in the covered outdoor area. The swimming pool is next to the pub/restaurant outdoor seating area and access card entry for nightcap guests. Plenty of parking and staff very pleasant and helpful. Will definitely be back for another stay.

Surprisingly very good. Rooms are clean and I'd love this bathroom in my house. Rooms quiet and couldn't hear other people or doors slamming. Slept until 8am before we heard any noise. Back sliding doors with big screens open onto grass parkland area that could be left open all night or you could run the air conditioning or heating that seems silent. Really surprised given it has zero street appeal.
The pool is excellent for kids and there is a bistro and a totally separate what seems a new bar and outdoor area. If I lived local I'd probably come here if a weekend it was that good.

Very poor and dero crowd in a nice looking environment. Such a shame. We came for dinner at the collective outside table due to nice weather and there were drunk people all around us dropping glasses and smoking (in a clearly labelled no smoking) 2 security staff on and they were aware of this but not doing anything. Also service was slow inside, staff not friendly, didn't really care for our experience. Unlikely to ever go back even when we enjoyed it when it first opened

Very much enjoyed our lunch. Big portion of food which we weren't expecting. Food was great and well priced. Staff were friendly. Nice big family bistro. You can either scan a code at your table, order and pay online or walk to the register.

Can't fault this one guys! Food was beautiful, especially in the collective area, cocktails go down a treat in there too! Especially while listening to some live music on the nights they have some on! Beautiful beer garden overlooking the pool and gardens! Would highly recommend coming into the warmer months especially.
Even if you're just looking for an easy coffee and a comfy couch to sit and chat! This is the place!

Dinner was nice although ordering from table was hit and miss. Staff were polite and helpful when 2 if my friends hadn't received their drink order after quite some time and also checked to see all meal orderes were received.

Generous 2 stars at best for the food, 1 star for the staff, after receiving my meal, which was not what I ordered, I told the staff member, that I ordered the mixed grill, she returned to tell me that a mixed grill isn't on the menu, surprisingly though I had paid for it at the counter, I'm guessing that was the message from the kitchen, so when she was showed mixed grill on the actual menu, she returned to the kitchen and tried again, then was told I would have to wait until they cook it.
Would have to be the worst customer service I've experienced for a long time, and after reading all the reviews about rude staff, they just say sorry we are working on that, what a crock.
Well the last time I was here was over 10 years ago, and will be another 10 years until I return.
That's ok, I'm a local, my money will be spent somewhere else.
Also just to add, we went for dinner the night before the storms, so really no excuse at all, you weren't short staffed, just terrible service, and obviously a manager who only cares about reviews, and making up stories to cover up his terrible service

Amazing venue! My family and I have eaten at both the bistro and the Collective and both options are so nice! The staff are so awesome and friendly and always up for a chat! The food is amazing in both kitchens and the vibes are always high! Literally love the York, such a beautiful venue in every way! 10/10 if possible!

Gardens very clean, loads of parking, the room, well I must say it was big and beautiful, enjoyed the over the pond view, large spa, room service was so quick and easy.
Loved that the heater was on before my arrival.
I will be sure to return.

Food and prices were all about average. Certainly not bad but nothing special. I gave an extra star because of the kids playground and play areas- including an ipad learning/play zone.

Hit or miss sums this place up perfectly.

Our garlic bread entree was amazing but our mains interrupted us half way through eating it. That's fine, some people like their food bought out quickly. My 'special' featured hard peas, salty mashed potatoes, "onion gravy" that was red onion in weak gravy, pretty sure the lamb sausages listed was pork. Food is standard pub fair but at a higher price then I thought was reasonable for the quality. Lots of kids running about. Nice atmosphere for families, not so much for a quiet date. Standard pub fair but not an unpleasant one.

Large group catered for really well for lunch at the bistro.
From booking to leaving bistro it was a wonderful experience.
All staff were exceptional as dealing with a large group can be a challenge but all went very smoothly.

Man... Table of 7, one food arrived, then 2 followed 15 minutes later, then 1 ten minutes, the rest arrived 30 minutes later after two follow up...
One dish was not edible and the rest was meh...

Excellent motel with very good parking for large vans with trailers. Great food and very clean new looking rooms.

Family bistro has great meals and senior meals at great prices. My only negative is that the 'toddler menu' is all deep fried and unhealthy meals. Would be good to see a mini roast with vegetables or a fried rice. Same too for the kids and kids dessert menu. Perhaps a fruit salad with yogurt. It was lucky I packed a lunch for my 2 little ones

Great location, clean room, welcoming staff, fabulous bistro. Don't book a spa room if you doubt you can use the spa! No shower facility. Highly recommend for value and location.

Nice room and we enjoyed being able to sit by the lake. But it can be quite noisy at night as others have commented and the sound proofing needs improvement! Also we felt the hotel wasn't very accommodating in refusing our request to borrow a couple of bowls for breakfast.

Nice location close to our wedding venue. Room positioned behind the entrance and with a nice view of the pond. Felt tranquil.

A perfect place to stay with a family. The room was spacious and extremely clean (with eczema I am very particular about this), with the pool, play areas and a lake for kids. Would stay again when we come down this way next time.

Beautiful location close to Yarra Valley as well as the Dandenongs. Clean large rooms. Will want to visit again when all the amenities bars, bistro and pool are open again.
