Play Pokies at The RUC in Turner

The RUC is in a really good position at Turner. Plenty of parking and it\'s situated off the main road.
I visited for Sunday lunch and was greeted warmly by the staff member at reception who was most helpful.
The menu is varied and the bar is well stocked. I recommend the brisket sandwich and the crunchy fries which is almost too much for one, even if you are hungry.
Next time I\'ll try a pizza as they looked delicious too and are clearly generous in size. Many patrons were taking left overs home.
My only constructive suggestion is that less experienced staff at the coffee bar need to learn to make a coffee to the patron\'s request.

I\'m not one for Bowls but I\'ll be going back for the food as it is delicious. And membership is cheap! Get hungry and give The RUC a visit.

Cooks haven\'t changed. Medium rare steak came out medium well.

New Update (22/10/25): Unfortunately I have to edit my review. Over the last few times I have been here, the steaks are always overcooked. Attached are pictures of my Medium Rare steak. It looked pretty much Well Done.
2nd picture has my steak and my friend\'s steak (which was also a Medium Rare) on the left and mine on the right. Why the inconsistency? Both ordered and delivered at the same time, both Med Rare.
In the past, I have sent my steaks back before but it isn\'t always an option when eating with friends and having plans for the night (especially when it takes 30 minutes to get one\'s meal). The last time I sent mine back (got a Well Done instead of a Medium), I ended up with just a slightly less than Well Done steak. Gave up.
It seriously used to be good ... but last 3 times have been disappointing.

Always a fun place! Love their steaks! Last time I went it was a lot busier than what I am used to there. Food took ages, but glad to see the place doing well. Majority of the FOH staff are friendly and service was great.

Big fan of The RUC for many years however recently the customer service and food quality has declined.
Dude and impatience staff and the popcorn chicken coming out looking like it was yesterday\'s leftovers reheated.

Well over an hour just to get some garlic bread!
I understand that you\'re busy but your service is nothing short of pathetic.
When I asked about the rest of the order I was asked how much I paid, in spite of having given them our table number. No tracking of the order, zero fornications given.
If ever there were a mandate for a zero star on google the Rubbish Uncoordinated Clusterlove is it.
Just don\'t bother.
The best thing I can say is that I now know where Canberra\'s worst venue is.

Increased to two stars.
A partial refund and a couple of free drinks.
The tasting plate that arrived was clearly an overcooked afterthought.
The young lady, her first day, was as accommodating and apologetic as could be.

RUC Do Better!

We are writing as loyal members of The RUC, and would like the space to share our concerns regarding the decline in quality of food. To be specific the burger night. We would like to begin by saying that the chicken burger used to be good, the size and quality of the breast was great. HOWEVER for the past few weeks the burgers have been unsatisfying, instead of a chicken breast we were served a chicken NUGGET. Now we were willing to put this in the past, as it may have been a 1 off. But this issue has not resolved, and nuggets are being continually served. Adding to this the wait times have increased dramatically, leaving us to wait over an hour for our disappointing chicken burger. You would think that because it is taking so long to cook that it would be fresh and hot. Wrong again, it's cold. Thoroughly disappointed with The RUC. And we are seriously reconsidering our loyalty to this once great establishment.
