Play Pokies at Lakes Sports & Community Club in Lakes Entrance

Went here last week for a nice dinner with my husband, was told there may be a bit of a wait as they were busy.. we said ok..
I spent over $80 on entree's and mains.. only to have it delivered to the table over cooked.. even the rice had burnt egg in it.. which overpowered the taste..
Didn't finish our meals and just left..
They would have known it was over cooked by just looking at it.. (burnt pork sweet and sour, burnt honey chicken ..)
Sad really as I always went there for meals when visiting Lakes Entrance..

Lunch today at Lakes Sports and community club for 2 adults and a child.
The child\'s spaghetti was fine and a good size. The carbonara schnitzel with chips was fresh and nice enough but nothing to rush back for.
Unfortunately my Chinese meal of Szechuan chicken and fried rice very much lacked any flavour or quality. The rice was only just edible and had chunks of cheap diced bacon style pieces you you buy at the supermarket deli added. The chicken was dry and not nice, good quality pieces of meat and the sauce was bland.
Atmosphere was very ordinary.
I wouldn\'t normally leave such a critical review, however the meals certainly weren\'t cheap which made it even more disappointing as we expected more quality for the price.
Sorry but I won\'t be in a hurry to return and will instead be trying somewhere else in lakes for lunch next time.

Went back after a couple of years due to bad experience. Unfortunately not much has changed although new Asian Menu is very good. Otherwise beer very expensive compared to others and western food is average. Also not complimentary drinks in pokies section. Which alsp reeked of tobacco smoke.
Avoid, there are better alternatives.

The club looked very nice, appeared to be getting a refresh.
Located opposite the water with plenty of free parking directly in front and across the road.

This review is mostly about the
restaurant section.

The restaurant was clean but basic and had both inside and outside seating.
There was both a Western and Asian menu to choose from.

Our meals were ok but lacked flavour and were very expensive for what we got.
The steaks were small and to get any sauce was extra. For $2 we chose garlic butter for one meal and it was smaller than a 20 cent coin.
The salad came in its own small bowl, drowned in salad dressing.
Children's meals were adequate size but we didn't like that the small pizza was served on top of the chips in a bowl, instead of a plate, making cutting the pizza quite difficult.

There is a surcharge for using your credit card.

The bathroom was clean and reasonably large but the placement of the toilet paper dispensers was so far back, making them awkward to use.

Note. - we noticed that the kitchen and serving staff did not wear gloves. The person handling money also handled the food. We watched a kitchen staff member use their fingers to readjust and set out the chips on more than one plate.

Very average food. Tasted like it came out of. Box. Cutlery was in a container on the table sitting there for anyone to touch. The club would definitely fail Gordon Ramsay's standards.
