Date night at the Star hotel in Sale. Menu looked appetizing so ordered a Salmon with a Soy Ginger Glaze for my partner and i decided I wanted the Pork Ribs, but was politely told they were out of them, which was disappointing as it was a regular menu item and not on their "specials" list. So after umming and aghhing I decided to have the Red Thai Curry with Chicken as my choice of protein. Also ordered 4 pieces of Bruschetta to share for entree and a couple of soft drinks
So the meal started really well, the Bruschetta entree was delicious, had a base of pesto spread on the nicely toasted bread, topped with tomato and feta and a drizzling of balsamic vinegar on top. The pesto gave it a great flavour and the balsamic vinegar was not overpowering, so 10/10.
The mains came shortly after, and I had a little taste of the partners salmon which was cooked nicely and the glaze complimented the salmon well and served with some nice steamed rice , so 8/10.
Now I am a big fan of South East Asian food so was looking forward to tasting the curry. I will admit that the curry had some nice flavours to it but was lacking something, perhaps it needed more kick, as my forehead was as dry as the Simpson Desert and that is not usually the case when consuming a curry, so 7/10 .
Went on a Saturday night, so was quite busy and is a family friendly outlet as it has a playground area for the kids, so lots of family groups, so was a bit noisy at times, so if you don't like alot of noise then a Saturday night may not be for you.
Thought the Bruschetta represented reasonable value at but thought the mains and soft drinks were a bit on the pricey side for what they were ,Salmon (37.50) and Thai Red Curry ( 32.50) and the portion size was average. Also got slugged the seemingly regular credit card surcharge on my EFTPOS transaction which further added to my concerns over value.
So overall a satisfactory meal without blowing my socks off or my thermometer for that matter. Shout out to the staff who were professional.
