The Royal hotel on Ruthven Street first opened in October 1866. It was originally known as The Spring Hill hotel and was reportedly a popular spot with Toowoomba railway workers. The original pub burnt down in 1904, it was rebuilt and then reopened in April 1906.

We recommend it as a must do visit when you are in Toowoomba.

Beautiful decor, impeccable service and delightful atmosphere and just a few words to describe our visit to Royal hotel for lunch. Menu options are broad, clean and tasty. This hotel may become our local favourite 😍

Food was good pub grub, restaurant really busy, staff were efficient and engaging.

My favourite was the Guinness at the front bar.

Enjoyed a great meal with friends. The dining room is lovely although there was a large group, so it was little noisy at times. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Great outside eating space for good weather as well as inside.

Food is very well priced with a very mixed and good menu. We found the food absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our time there only finding one big issue. If dining inside with the laminate flooring it is soooooooooo loud and echoes. As a disability support worker I would only be able to use outside seating as they would have sensory overload inside with all the noise. People were enjoying themselves so no excessively noisy people causing the issue just a busy night aha noise just traveling and bouncing off the flooring. We struggled to hold conversation at the table and listen to each other. We didn't stay for dessert and although enjoyed our meats we just couldn't talk and converse. We were celebrating an early Mother's Day dinner together so kinda took away the family time together when we couldn't relax and talk. We had visitors who traveled in hoping to have time together. The venue is very very nice but efforts need to be made to absorb the nose in the main dining areas.
