Always drive about 30 minutes to come here. Head chef Danny knows what he's doing and is an amazing chef. Want a good meal come down to see Danny and the team. We always recommend here.

Poor experience having dinner here tonight.
Ordered two simple dishes, a parma and fish tacos and they took about 50 minutes to get to the table! Also ordered a Coca Cola and it came completely flat. After a long wait to eat some very average food, I cut into my parma only to find a strand of dark coloured hair on my plate. I was so disappointed! Would not recommend visiting and will not return. Poor food, poor service and for the prices, it really is not worth it.

We arrived for our 6.30 booking for 3 adults & 1 child at 6.25 & staff unable to find booking went to find manager who came & left no help what's so ever another couple arrived behind us to ask if a table for 2 was available & despite no booking down to a table for 4 at the window !!!! After a few more minutes of discussion we were offered a table in the sports bar that I declined as in appropriate for a 8 year old eventually a table being cleaned was available After waiting 10 minutes my husband went & asked for menus . The adult meals arrived & after waiting another 5-10 minutes my husband asked where our grandsons meal was took another 10 minutes for that to arrive. Haven't been to the Total for several years & ill. Ever go again or recommend it to anyone. Gave had far better service at a food court !!!

Our recent stay and experience was fantastic comfy beds, clean shared showers and very clean room. Location excellent with trains, trams & buses at your door step.

Went for lunch today. Table was sticky. venue was too cold. Bartender had no idea what he was doing. could not find an ice bucket.
The salad was minute with my fish.
Shared dish with spare ribs and chicken was lacking in flavour.
The young lad who served us was sensational

Worst dining experience EVER!!
Tables unclean, staff unfriendly, ordering meals and paying procedures difficult and waiting time for meals UNBELIEVABLE!! Never again. The 1 star is for the wine even though we had to pry our glasses off the sticky table to drink it!

Had lunch today with 2 friends. Ordered our lunches and asked the girl if l could order the drinks with her and she said no at the bar. Went to the bar and nobody there. Waited 15 minutes before l finally got our drinks. Pat the barman was very nice and apologetic, he said l could have ordered drinks with my food. Staff should know this. Appears short staffed here. Waited 35 minutes before we got our lunch and not overly busy. I hadn't been here for lunch for a long time and will not be going back soon even though the food was very nice.

My hubby and I went there tonight. He went to bar to order a drink, the guy serving him said no more alcohol for you. He had only had one beer previously. He told the staff member that he only had one beer and the reason he was slurring his words is because he has had 2 stokes.
Staff need to learn some basic communication skills.

Great pub meals with fantastic service. Parma, Rib Eye and burgers were all delicious according to our party of 6. Plenty of other yummy options on the menu too.

The meals here were nice, steaks were cooked well and the scotch fillet was super tender could do with a bit more chips and salad but.7.8/10
The desserts was good too, sticky date pudding delicious 8.4/10 Pasta special Prawn Linguine was yummy, would have love to have some cheese on top 7.5/10

All the staff effortlessly made our stay welcoming, comfortable and accommodating. This is such a great place to stay. This reminded me of regional pubs with good old fashioned hospitality that I've stayed in but with an urban, contemporary feel. Quiet, clean and comfortable.

My food was really good- the second time it was cooked for me. Ordered a mexican burrito bowl/ vegetarian dish- which came with chicken?? They graciously took it back acknowledge and made a new one. Thing is service was so bad so I eat an hour after my group eats and then after I eat my main my garlic bread entree comes out. Nice little place and food was good and drinks were good but get your customer service corrected. Should have at least offered some fries or something whilst I sit and wait for my food to be cooked a second time

Had a private family gathering, and the venue manager was extremely helpful in organising/suggesting food options available. Food on the day was great and very fresh, and the bar staff did a great job. Thank you to all involved in making the afternoon run smoothly.

Had a couple of tasty seniors meals last night. Only the one waiter doing the lounge, but he did an excellent job. Shame we did our dough on the pokies!

Food was great. Our group all really enjoyed our meals and would have given five stars, however was lacking a bit in customer service. We felt pressured to leave although it wasn't all that late as a member of the waiting staff hovered around our table. We were even told there's an ice cream parlour around the corner where we can take the kids although they'd just been served their desserts.

We came in late to the dining room, and it was clear the kitchen staff were wanting to get cleaned up and out of there (public holiday 'n all). Despite that, the chef did an absolutely awesome job with our meals - everything was hot, served at the same time, and delicious. Totally professional, and when we thanked him, he responded with a smile and his own thanks. Great place - totally worth it.

The hotel was great for us when backpacking around Melbourne. The shared bathroom wasn't an issue as it was quiet, the bathrooms are so nice and everything seems freshly renovated. Having the kitchen/common space was a really nice extra and handy to be able to make some basic food.
It's so close to the tram so it's super easy to get back into the city. The free drinks were also a nice touch! The staff were all lovely and helpful.

I missed my plane and quickly needed to find an overnight stay nit too far from the airport that didn't cost an arm and a leg. This hotel, 13km away was surprisingly nice. Really clean and quiet. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Price was good, too. I had breakfast in a nice cafe just around the corner. I'd go there again.

The food offered here is by far the best in pub meals I have ever had in the surrounding area. The chef should be praised for dishing up delicious meals over and over. We are so glad we discovered this place and are now regulars. If you haven't tried it, it is a must! Well done to the chef and staff in the kitchen!

Food is delicious. Pork bites are amazing. We used the me&u app to order food as the staff push it and that is the only reason I'm not giving a 5 star. Me&u charges a service fee per transaction. Some orders were slightly incorrect but staff were very quick to fix them.

We had a few request do you food restraints two of the chefs were very helpful and made us beautiful food.
The manger on duty was very friendly and helpful and easy to talk to.

Great fresh food. They were short on staff, as a lot of places are at the moment, however I used the app to order (& the waitress offered to help if needed). I found it quick and easy to use! Meals were great and prices for seniors card holders was amazing. Would definitely go again if we were local.

What happened to a "good quality & Traditional" Pub Meal?????

Visited about a week ago so with my mother.
The tables were sticky and getting stuck to our clothing.
Customer Service is non-existent, we were told to place our orders & pay online.
When the food arrived, the chips were dry and some even brown on the inside. I'm assuming the oil had not been changed in some time as the calamari was dark and tasted like stale oil.
The schnitzel tasted processed and frozen after crumbing and also deep fried with this stale tasing oil which made the inside of the crumbing soggy.
The gravy tasted foul, I couldn't bring myself to eat it.
I expected far better service and quality of meals but it was like visiting an outback truckstop.
Needless to say, I will not be returning if I wish to eat a quality pub meal in future.

I would recommend hiring chefs who are trained to prepare and deliver fresh quality meals, not just basic cooks. Hiring Waiting staff to great you upon arrival, direct you to your seat and take your order along with any special requests. It's basic hospitality, really not that difficult to accomplish when a company takes pride in their venue and level of customer satisfaction.

Is it fancy here? Nah. Is it great to eat lunch or dinner or to grab a drink and play pool or even to go to the pokies or even watch your AFL team play? Absolutely!!
I love the bartenders/servers as they are so friendly!!
I absolutely recommend the Fruit Tingle cocktail as it's to die for or even the steak with garlic sauce. 🤤🤤

Is this a fancy pub? No... Is it a warm, great place to have a relaxed meal and a drink? 150% YES!

This is one of my favourite locals. Staff are always friendly and helpful, food is always well made pub grub, beers are consistently pedestrian through clean lines.

You know what your going to get every single time and I love it.

Uncomplicated, consistent, and wonderful.

Price service and food was all good bright roomy bistro too.

The Royal, has there been a pub so great. Many know it as the castle due to its kingly prices and service. Special thanks to Lydia for her awesome service. 10/10 establishment

Ate dinner with my partner and two friends and we had a fantastic dinner. Ordered porterhouse steaks and eye fillet, which were fantastic.Cooked well and delicious with great customer service!

Wow I can't believe I went back. After Covid I thought give'em another chance.
It was even worse today.
Pat, a new manager, ignored me until I put my hand up like in school. He had all of 4 people in the Bistro. Sprayed a table.Hardly run off his feet. He ticked me off for not knowing they only take orders from the POS. There are no directions on the menu to do this. I was escorted to a table by the guy from the neighbouring bar where I bought a glass of wine.
Pat said something like we have people who come in here and read books as an excuse for not approaching me.
Clearly he is inept re HOSPITALTY!
Forget the new senior menu it's hospital food!
Small, small portions and a glass of wine costs about the same as the meal. Do not order Chicken Maryland- its a boiled chicken leg with a few vegies. Even the people next to me said it's small.

I have been a loyal client of the Royal, a local for 10 years. I have been "hanging out" after the lockdown to get a great steak again so I turned up last Saturday night wondering if I could get in to the Bistro after Covid !9.
The large lady with the short blonde hair met me with plates in both hands and said -No we are booked out.
She nodded towards the QR code posted on the door and said you needed to use that.
She was abrupt and dismissive.
I'm 67, a senior, a good client- this was not helpful.
There was no warmth. There was no hospitality!

I get that it has been difficult but other smaller cafes and restaurants in the area know how to be hospitable.
I wont come back!

Nice quick and easy meals. Good service, however not a large selection of meal options.

AWESOME venue went for dinner with my wife , service was fantastic especially from Kathleen, meals were great never been disappointed with any choice we make.We always recommend to our friends.Well done Royal.

Shared a meal on 24/12. Service received on arrival (Declan) and Restaurant staff of Kathleen, Tara & Lauren was exceptional. Friendly, pleasant and only wanted us to have a good experience; nothing was too much in the way they attended to us and others in the Restaurant. Food too was great; served hot with good sized proportions. Can only recommend.
