Excellent place to unwind and enjoy a relaxing beer. Food was tasty and fast, and reasonably priced. Did not expect to have such a genuine pub vibe in North Sydney.

July 2023 Restaurant (First Floor)

Another great time at the venue and we decided to try out the restaurant and it was simply amazing. Started with a baked cheese and sour dough bread and this was bursting with flavour and a must have!

Lamb shank with mashed potatoes and heirloom tomatoes was super delicious and will be ordering again on my next visit. Rib Eye with duck fat chips and mushroom sauce was cooked perfectly.

Continues to deliver great food, drinks and atmosphere each time.

April 2023 Bistro (Ground Floor)

This is a really amazing place for drinks and food, providing tasty pub classics with their best selling freshly cooked in house pies. Many food options for everyone.

I have had their pies in the past and definitely a crowd pleaser today I ordered the Southern Fried Crispy Chicken Burger and it was out of this world. Served with a side of shoestring fries, perfectly paired with a couple of beers.

Conviently located with ample seating, friendly staff and fast service and one of the most popular places to visit for many workers for lunch, dinner, and drinks. Also has an upstair restaurant with an a la carte menu for lunch or dinner.

Overall great experience with plenty of drink options with tasty and delicious food.

The pie was great, schnitty was average. Unfortunately the portion was not huge for the price we had paid for. However, the pub has good range of tap beer. It also has outdoor section, that's nice.

Had a company lunch in this place. I enjoyed my Chicken Parma very much. The chips are crispy and the chicken has been cooked perfectly.

Tbh menu is not big but they've got the usuals, good range of beer though and the pies were yum.
Nice vibe in general and very cold beer.
Pie is essentially filling with a top crust only, but the beef pie was very chunky and delicious.

Gr8 place to hang out with colleagues. If you have a big event they setup a private area for the office party. I love their pies for lunch, in most of their lunch menu is pretty good.

Awesome selection of craft beers on tap and in the fridge that regularly change. Food is excellent, and with specials throughout the week. The Guinness pie is amazing, fish and chips hard to pass, and a rotating Sunday roast that is always cooked perfectly. Schnitzels are excellent too. Quite a few screens around to watch sports, but not overboard. Just a great pub!

Amazing service, great food and atmosphere. I wish I lived local. I recommend the Lamb rump and Dutch carrots atop egg plant purée and jui and a dash of mint, Devine!

Easily catered for a large group! Friendly staff, easy to reserve some tables at last minute. Food was delicious, kitchen was fast, price was reasonable. Drinks were cold and bar staff were great, the live music was good but not to loud that you couldn't hear you friends. The place was great for Friday night drinks and dinner with friends. Would recommend!

This is my local and I'm so happy for it to be. Every time I visit I'm treated like an old friend and the brews they have on tap are immaculate. I typically go the schnitty but tonight I got a steak and to be honest, it wasn't that great BUT despite that this institution gets 5 stars from me for consistently amazing service, good vibes, and great booze. Shout out to Hunter who delivered spectacular service to my partner and I tonight. Absolutely made my night. I will be coming back here, I think as far as local pubs go Rag and Famish are the best.

I go here quite a bit, the current manager (tall bloke with dark hair) is an absolute legend. But, last night there was a barman with shoulder length hair chewing gum, being rude and arrogant serving Probably the worst Guinness I've ever had. He was clearly very frustrated with having to drop the drinks at our table each time we ordered as well.

The downstairs bisto is so good that it makes having dinner there easy and tasty . Beer is good and the wine is good and reasonably priced. The upstairs restaurant has some very nice meals on the menu but the wine list seems a bit overpriced....but we are on the North Shore .

You can however order from downstairs bistro and go upstairs to eat in a side room at top of the stairs It's a lot quieter..there is seating for about 20 so you have to pick your time

After going into R/F hotel of ages to grab one or many beers, we finally went up to the restaurant which was amazing. The food was beautiful and the service was very warm and friendly. The wine by the glass selection is very good too. A great option for a casual, but upscale dining experience.

We were sat in the back. Everyone was super nice from the bar to the staff helping us check-in.

Biggest problem were the rats roaming around in the little area between the apartment building and the pub. We didn't even notice till one of our friends heard them creeping over one of our bags. We were there for farewell drinks for a friend and were short on time as they were closing so couldn't really speak to someone about it so we just moved away from the spot.

No problems with food and bar but it's a little unsettling to have rats around a lovely place.

We ate Bistro food after first having booked the restaruant. The website was offering both discount Thursday steak night (rump) and a menu that was fuller than the one put before us in the restaurant. We left the restaurant and sat instead in the bistro (one of our party was specifically wanting a menu item that was advertised on the restaurant's website but then found only to be available in the Bistro. Regardless, the Bistro food turned out to be great. next time we will steer clear of the restuarant and go straight to the Bistro.

I brought a very young (but big breed) puppy along, who was learning how to be at the pub for the first time. He was very nervous and a bit barky at times, but the staff were so understanding and patient with him.

Fantastic pub right in the heart of North Sydney. Probably the best Guinness in the whole of Sydney, the pies are incredible as well. Good vibes, especially on a Friday/ weekend. Dog friendly.

Had lunch in the restaurant. The new winter menu is great. The food was amazing and the service is always friendly and helpful.

Please clean your glasses properly. It's so gross (but also very common in Sydney pubs and restaurants) to get a drink and the glass comes with lipstick marks from a previous customer... this glass in particular was COVERED in thick pink lipstick and lip prints. How can you pour someone a glass of something without noticing this? You'd think COVID has made people / bartenders / everyone, really, more aware of being cleaner and more hygienic with what they're doing. And then when you go and ask the bartender for a cleaner glass, they treat you with a weird attitude as if they're doing you such a big favor to change the glass for you. Not even a "sorry about that". Just be clean and wash the bloody glasses properly! How hard can that be?

Chicken burger was raw in the middle the one time I tried it. Got it replaced by a microwaved pie which was disappointing. Chalked it up to the kitchen having an off day.

Had been here a few times before - food was consistently good (including the pie) at other times. Great selection of beer too.

Great place to grab a drink and a feed. Best in North Sydney. The hostess Lara is the best !

Traditional pub, great selection of tap beers, good variety on the food menu, enough options for non meat eaters. Sunday roast wasn't what we were expecting (ie roast pots, yorkie, gravy etc) but nice nevertheless.
Would eat / return there again ?

Great staff. One of the best pub Salmon meals I've had in long time. Served with a nice fresh salad with Ruby grapefruit, roasted chickpeas and guacomale. All I asked for was a slice of lemon to drizzle over the perfectly cooked salmon. I'll be back!

First time, big fan! Great beer garden and one of the few spaces you can have a beer and a smoke in comfort with sports playing in the background. Good beer and a steak. #winning

First time had Sunday roast , it was perfect. Beef , Yorkshire pudding , gravy . Really tasty. Finished with a nice warm sticky date pudding.Came back anticipating a repeat. What a disaster...Ordered the Sunday roast assuming it would be beef again, to my disappointment it was lamb (I hate lamb) and the Yorkshire pudding was missing. They brought it after we requested it.After that disaster, I thought I could enjoy the sticky date pudding. It was NOT like the first time. It came cold , served in a pink cold custard type sauce?? What is it Really really disappointed, some classics are just not meant to be changed.. BAD BAD EXPERIENCE

Great food and atmosphere.

Went for trivia, was okay but hard to hear at times. Finishes at 9:30 which is perfect. Hardly any GF options on the menu - I understand thats not an issue for lots of people but would be nice even if the gravy was GF (I was told it wasnt). Nice old style pub with a nice atmosphere, nice wine and extensive menu for non-glutards.

Decent pub in North Sydney CBD with a good selection of beers, outdoor seating and a tasty menu.
