I can speak from absolute experience as I myself was a cook for this Company almost 2 months. If I was treated with respect, equality, and fairness I'd say nothing. But this was not the case, so I will bring the truth to the light...

Worked in kitchens for 3+ years and never been so disgusted with one as much as this one... The head chef that's taken over (name is Dale) belittled me, spoke down to me, blamed me for things I didn't do, and overall let his ego abuse me to to the point where I walked out and will never return. They are entering renovations, revising the menu, and essentially restarting this kitchen. Have spoken to numerous of my old co workers since I left, and they are uncomfortable, stressed, and hate working there I recommend going elsewhere in Picnic for lunch/dinner as the kitchen is a mess, food is not quality, and it is overpriced. It's cheap pub food that is trying to pretend to be something else. Kitchen is chaotic, and a disaster service and cook wise and not a reflection of what a restaurant on Magnetic Island should bring.

We didn't stay at the hotel, only went for a meal and while the hotel itself, the location and entertainment on a Saturday night were all great and in themselves a great draw card the menu does not provide a great choice and the choices we made (Crumbed Steak & Parma) were over cooked and dry in parts. Otherwise the drinks with a water view were nice.

Checked out the opening hours. Signs said 10am. Waited till 10 and when we couldn't get in the front door we went to the bottle shop door Got told "we don't open till 11" . I questioned the fact that the sign said 10 I was told we don't open till 11.
Great service!!! This is the reason I spent my money elsewhere!

Ordered a burger and got an extra paddy one was raw but you couldn't see till a light was on it. Went to tell them about it and was told "it's normal"... as you can see one paddy is cooked and the other one is not cooked. The chief said the paddy was normal and "Australians don't like pink beef" This isn't pink, it's raw. Chicken wings and chicken burger was delicious (and cooked lol).

Went for Lunch there 26/9. There were a lot of people waiting to be served and the bar Staff seemed to have difficulty understanding some of the Orders. No problem we thought food has been great here recently. Watched as people next to us returned the food as it was wrong they ordered Chicken Burgers and got Chicken Schnitzel. Took 15 minutes plus to replace their order. Our Order a Caeser Salad with Grilled Prawns and a Steak... took 65 minutes to come out. 2 of the Grilled Prawns were Raw at the top near the head. We returned the meal. It came back 5 minutes later. No they didn't cook new prawns they just tried to recook the raw ones. One was still Raw. My Steak was Raw on one end and Medium to well done on the other end (Ordered Med/Rare) of it.. like it was half on and half off the Grill. We saw other meals being returned. The waiter asked if we enjoyed the meal and we told her the Issues.. Her response was.. OH sorry we were busy. This place has been great recently .. however someone hired a 2nd rate Chef on the day we were there. 🙁
