A must visit!
We arrived 2 minutes before 8 p.m. Knowing most restaurants close their kitchen at 8, I asked a woman behind the bar if there was any chance the kitchen would take one more order.
They said yes, and we were stoked!
Both of us were starving, and the motel we were staying at turned us away when we walked into the restaurant more than 20 minutes before the owner said they would close.
It worked out perfectly, who knows if we would've found such a gem otherwise.
Our meals were huge, and came out quickly; we didn't leave a thing on our plates.
This pub/hotel is super cool!
The atmosphere, the antiques, the style of the chairs and tables, the fire heating the place, and every staff member we interacted with - the whole place made our night.
The owner took the time to chat with us and share a bit of the place's history. We were introduced to the family dog, who made a new friend with a local patron's 3-legged canine buddy, and they were so sweet!
We even went back the following morning to grab a coffee from the cafe that opens at the front of the pub. Then, on our return trip, we stopped again for lunch.
Yep, it's that good!
I love these types of country pubs/hotels; they are a quintessential example of the best Australian pubs one is lucky to find.
