Utilised the Matthew Flinders hotel to host an education even for over 100 people. The venue was excellent and more importantly the team there were more than accomodating and went above and beyond. This was our sixth event this year across the country and this venue provided the best service by far. Thanks!

Checked into the room and it was nice and clean. Service was good until my final night. Was running late and wanted to get something for dinner. All around the hotel there are signs stating meals from 11am until 9pm. Went to the restaurant to see them cleaning up and asked if they still open as there were no menus around and was told no we are closed.........as I am from country Victoria and come to Melbourne for business often, I thought I found a hreat place to stay until this.

A fantastic spot for celebrating birthdays or simply enjoying regular days, boasting delicious food and a delightful atmosphere. Additionally, it features an arcade suitable for both children and adults, and ample parking space, making it highly recommended. ðŸ'-😍😍

The establishment is very clean and actually has a great vibe. The staff are very friendly and welcoming which is always a plus.

There's lots of room for functions as well as booths for something more private.

There's a decent bar selection of wines and spirits (although I'm not a drinker) there's also a coffee machine with some lovely cakes (a must for us mums)

The kitchen area is open, and looks very clean. The food came out fast and the portions are just enough to fill a hungry tummy). Sometimes pubs give such a huge serve that it ends up being a waste. There's a great selection for the seniors too which are very affordable.

Kids meals are decent with the standard options that one would expect (fish n chips, nuggets n chips, salads, pasta) for $12.

I ordered a chicken Caesar salad it came out fresh and well prepared.

There's a bowling area, kids indoor playground, as well as an arcade all well kept, clean and great to vent some energy before or after a meal.

To the back is also a sports bar and gaming lounge (can't comment on the state of either as under 18 is not permitted and I have 2 littles with me)

This is a great place that will surprise anyone who is entering for the first time. Nice ambience and spacious with a wide variety of food, including vegetarian and vegan options. They have a nice tab with options of drinks.

My darling Porscha!! We cannot thank you and the wonderful staff for hosting and organising our boys 6th birthday party! It was such an amazing party in the arcade with arcade cards for every child, bowling and more! We are in awe and are so overwhelmed by the hospitality...you absolutely spoilt them!! We loved Fab Fiona the magician and the wonderful face painter Kerry! Everyone was so impressed with the food and service, the adult platters and kids meals were beyond expectation! The children loved the party bags and gifts it was like Christmas. Can highly recommend having a party or function at the Matthew Flinders. Thank you for making it so memorable 😘 xx

We came here when we were scouting for places that can host kids birthday parties. The place is an actual hotel with a dining/pub area that also has an indoor playground and arcade. We ordered a few dishes to test it out and although it's not mind-blowingly good it is still pretty decent compared to other similar establishments. Portion is generous even for kids pasta and it comes with actual mince meat in the sauce. The place is spacious so kids can run around and they can entertain themselves in the indoor playground or the arcade that has mini bowlings.

Pub was clean and service was good. The play area is fantastic, quite a few options for kids. It's also a large area, so didn't feel crowded at all. I loved the concept of what they did. The food is OK... A bit pricy really for what it is, serves were on the smaller side.
On the whole, good experience and entertainment for the kids, however you'll need to bring some cash!

Had a Christening party last night and I must say everything and and everyone at Mathew flinders are amazing!! Portia was just a pleasure to work with! Helped us in everything we needed. Provided us with her own personal mobile so that we could get in contact at any time! I would highly recommend Mathew flinders for an event! The victory room is brilliant with it's own private entrance, toilets and smoking area! Thank you again for everything!

Service is quite poor the couple of times we have been. All the staff were nice enough when we eventually get service but it seems they are just under-staffed and running around disorderly. Lunch & dinner have been the same experience and although lunch was busy, it was probably 70% capacity. Took 10mins waiting at the front to be shown to the table. Staff saw us and others waiting but just seemed too busy to assist. Kids meal took an hour and came out only after asking at 45min mark. Menu items from dinner weren't seen at lunch session. Food is hit & miss but the cheesy garlic bread & arcade games have us returning!

Would like to mention a special person who not only made everything possible in a short time, but she went LITERALLY above and beyond continuously throughout the day to cater to our company's needs from her beautiful smile and greeting to hospitality to working together with us & giving her absolute best - our hearts were just beyond blessed and lost for words. Porscha - YOU are an amazing person & the service you provided to us today was AMAZING! It's so rare to come across a service let alone a person who's charismatic, attentive to detail and overall demonstrates passion and dedication for what they do like you; You truely are one of a kind, I can't express how grateful and thankful we are - we felt right at home under your care! Note to Matthew a flinders Management Team - You are SO blessed to have Porscha as the spokes person for events & overall on your Team! She's amazing, because of her, we will most definitely be using your venue ongoing for our future events. Highly recommend Porscha & their staff here at Matthew Flinders!

Kids entertainment review.
Age range: 3- 14
Price: $15+

This is a basic place to take kids if you want them entertained on the cheap. Essentially they have bowling, basketball arcade, general arcades/ video games, ticket games and a half decent play room.

For around $15 they can get a game of bowling, get in around 7-10 arcade games and also win a prize (if they do any ticket items).

The only down side is that bowling was faulty in one lane and a couple of the games were out of order.

Overall though for kids under 10 this will keep them entertained for a while. We were there for around 2hrs and spent about $15. quite happy with the experience and they got a nice little toy to take home.

The private function room was hired, great location. Easy to find. Buffet dinner included dessert was lovely. Food was on point with great flavours. Staff was amazing and had everything sorted.
All in all great venue.

The spirit of the local lives here. A very large hotel with a sports bar, family bistro and entertainment area and of course a slightly posh gaming area. Food is brilliant and good value for money. Regular events are held in the function rooms and big names often grace its walls. One of the hidden gems of the south east.

Was a bit disappointing this time. Beef schnitzel was way over deep fried and not very edible. It was a busy night with a Collingwood players functioned so I think maybe the meals were rushed out. Management were really good though and offered a refund.
Will be back but will order something else.

I held my wedding reception at the board room. We had three-course meals and the food looks amazing and tastes delicious. Porscha, the function manager, helped a lot in planning and organsing everything. My husband and I had a really great experience and will definitely recommend Matthew Flinders Hotel and Porscha to our friends.

Good as a night club with reasonably priced food. Had a Star Wars convention there which was great fun and catered well.

This is a great venue for little kids. They can keep themselves entertained in the play area and the adults can enjoy a chat. Food is good pub food. Not spectacular but tasty and generous. Had calamari and it was fine. Great for a big family catch up when you don't want to spend a fortune.

Garlic bread with cheese and bacon. Amazing start of the meal. Good place to catch up with friends during the afternoon. There is also a large play centre for the kids to come and enjoy. Also had the buffalo wings and wedges to share. Average. But went seconds on the garlic bread. Recommended as a place to take the family for an afternoon meal.

Great pub. Heaps of options to choose from on the menu and a good area for kids to hang out in. The garlic bread with cheese and bacon was elite.

Really ordinary food,. Great area for kids to play all sort of games, for a cost of course. They probably make more out of the game parlour than they do out of the restaurant. Had the absolute worst Margherita that I have ever had. It was on special $10, I should have know . Neither of the two we ordered were drunk. Very ordinary pub,

Great family environment. Kids were disappointed the playground wasn't open due to Covid. Good affordable meals especially for a family of five.

Great place for the kids to play. The service was good but the food was way below average, they have the potential to cook really good food but unfortunately don't. Good place to have a drink.

We chose this venue because of the kids area and specified in our booking that we would like to sit close to the playground. Nothing on the website or in our booking confirmation indicated the closure of the playground due to covid restrictions so we were disappointed to see that nothing was available for the kids to play on upon our arrival. I had preconceptions that the food wouldn't be the greatest, but once again the play area was the draw card. Sure enough the pumpkin salad came with pumpkin the size of a closed fist and as hard as rocks... my sister had asked to substitute the goats cheese for vegan cheese (as she is a vegan) and the girl taking the order said "that won't taste good", when it ended up being the pumpkin that was inedible.

Not the Mathew Flinders I remember. Staffs body language suggested they did not want to be there, let alone their approach towards customers lacking the most simplistic and vital value in the hospitality industry requires a SMILE.
The food was less to be desired. You order fish and chips, the most simplistic order one could possible ask for only to get some type of fish in strips that smelt bad and tasted worse. I can go on and on, but I will simply say that I will not be going back.

Love it here. Great menu, quality food, reasonable prices and lovely service all round!Definitely adding MFH to our rotation for weekly/fortnightly dining with friends and family!Side note: Absolutely amazing facilities for the kids! Plenty of parking available. After checking in with the QR code, I ordered Rump steak medium/well with chips and salad and plain gravy. The service was quick and the meal reasonably priced. The steak was perfectly cooked the chips were crispy on the outside and soft inside. I was completely satisfied. The menu included seniors meals and also kids meals. I would recommend Mathew Flinders for a great pub meal and service at good prices.

Great place for a family dinner with kids. They love the arcade so keeps them engaged. Food was great, the garlic bread was fantastic! Weekdays are quiet.

Reviewing the bistro:Typical pub bistro with all the usual facilities. Dining room is a bit dark, but the generous kids area, complete with video games, playground, movie screen and bowling, makes this a great family destination!Food is always good, and sometimes amazing. Staff are friendly and happy to help.

Attended this pub for the first time in years, with a disabled client I am supporting. They found us a table even though we didn't have a booking and they were booked out. They sat us down before they opened. Beer was reasonably priced (pint of VB for $7). They blended up the meal for us without hassle, which is a rarity. The chef was super nice about it.Great disabled parking and accessibility.The food came out super quick.

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Right next to the pub. What more could you want?
