We normally eat at another pub venue but tried the King's Creek for Saturday lunch for a change. The atmosphere is relaxed and there was plenty of room in a fairly large and well laid out dining area. I had a chicken schnitty and my wife had the roast beef. The schnitzel was good and typical of pub fare with chips and salad. I liked the salad as it was simple, fresh and the dressing was just right. My wife's roast beef was beyond exceptional. The serving of slow cooked beef was very generous and was sliced into thick pieces that were unbelievably tender. It was accompanied by roast spuds, and every conceivable veg plus a proper Yorkshire pud.
The staff were very friendly, polite but not in your face and it was obvious they enjoyed working here. The entire lunch was so enjoyable that we went back for Sunday lunch again today.
I had the calamari and it was the real deal, full on, proper calamari. So many pubs nowadays use the mashed and stamped calamari and it was refreshing to have it crumbed and fried like it was in the 'old days'. Today my wife had the Parma and instead of the chips she requested vegies as well as the salad. It was no problem for the kitchen and they were happy to oblige. She did her best but we had to bring some home in a doggie bag.
All in all it was a lovely meal and the roasts and calamari was a standout. It was first class pub food served by lovely people in a very relaxed environment. The King's Creek will now be my 'local'
