Play Pokies at The Ivanhoe Hotel Ivanhoe

I've been to Ivanhoe hotel twice now and both times I've enjoyed myself. It's a charming place. Nice locals and staff. Three long tables sit perpendicular to the bar close by, with comfortable and interestingly designed chairs I haven't seen in other pubs. Carlton Draught is on special from 4-6pm if I recall correctly. My only criticism is they have the volume on for both the AFL and the horses; I'd rather one or the other.

Somebody has to let you all know that the Bistro here has not been open since COVID lockdown. A shame really it was once a great place for a family dinner. However drop in the main bar (not the pokies) for some merriment.

It's basically been cactus here since covid. It beggars belief what it's become. It's basically just a sports bar, TAB and gaming room. All pretence of being family pub has gone as the back dining room, which was once quite nice, is all closed up including the back terrace. It's all rather sad but presumably the owners are looking to redevelop it here, hopefully nicely in such a good area. We had a couple of drinks today and a couple of pizzas which were surprisingly edible. The young barman was doing a good job here. He deserves a pay rise

The pokies is usually pretty quiet with a middle class to older group kinda RSL vibe which is settling compared to most other venues closer to city or that I know with a rough crowd and men that can make it not so pleasant for us women at times. They offer free coffee with soy & almond options although a few years back I was questioned apon asking for a free coffee by a female older employer which is not her job to worry who gets free coffees especially considering this is my families local venue & we've frequented for over 5 years. I haven't been in a long while till tonight, there is a big selection of slot games. I often hear it's difficult to win there but i guess that all varies. Young English man at bar was friendly.

If you want to loose a lot of money really quick then this is for you but if not then my suggestion would be to find somewhere else to play the pokies every time I've been here 10 in total I've always walked out broke
