Stopped in at the Hyde Park Tavern Sunday as they had the Port V Saints game on.
Did not expect the food to be 'so' good, so compliments to the chef working that day.
Didn't expect the two young bar staff to be so helpful and professional, going above and beyond to make sure we were looked after.
And didn't expect to pay $5 for a pint of my favourite beer!
At one point we did notice an old homeless looking man wearing a beanie slide behind the bar and pour himself a drink, but given that no one challenged him, we're thinking he might be the pub's owner?

Celebrating my granddaughter's birthday. My Hubby had the scotch eye fillet steak. He thought that it was strange that they didn't give him a steak knife. Turns out that he was able to cut the steak with an ordinary knife. It was apparently melt in your mouth & delicious. I had the pork bangers and mash and I really enjoyed them. A good night was had by all.

We are semi regulars at the tavern and are satisfied with service and food, usually, but today when the Unley gala was on we went in for a drink and they were charging $14, pint prices for a plastic cup that wouldn't have been more than a can size. Disappointed and disgusted with the money grabbing attitude. The cans of beer at the gala were between $7 and $ 10. The tavern is off our list now.

Order 'safe' options from this menu. The Scotch fillet was cooked to perfection and matched well with sides, I'll be back for this, but some of the other meals fell short. The Lamb rissoles were dry like they'd been defrosted, and the 'pea mash' was potato mash with some peas stirred into it and kumara chips were a crispy garnish rather than the expected chips; it wasn't what was expected/described. The staff didn't know what vegan meant, and the vegetarian options were very very plain, basically a can of crushed tomatoes over penne with a few leftover roast carrots chopped and stirred through. The Hyde Park simply doesn't compare to similar venues near by, so give their restaurant a miss.

Had the special of the day - Moroccan Lamb chops - tasty and tender.
Went as part of a group bday celebration and the staff were magnificent, served the bday cake which we brought on a beautiful platter stand.
