Great lunch and tasty food. Shnitzel and Parma were very nice. Veggies were good and so was the service.

Crumbed prawns with zesty coleslaw absolutely enjoyable. Could have had for a main meal it was delicious. Fish in batter, although safe, it was tasty, not watery and clean, crisp batter.
The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and clean. The staff were welcoming and extremely efficient.

This would have to be the best hotel on the Mornington peninsula. The food is excellent and well priced. The staff are very friendly and professional. The atmosphere is great.
It is the first time that we have been there and we will continue to go there regularly from now on.

everything was good except the service in the dining room. The servers just stood around glaring at our group, the whole time we were there. very unattentive, miserable looking young girls. their attitude towards our group was enough for everyone to notice. each time we ordered food , it was like we were interrupting their group chat.
Food was great although not dished up at the same time, which was disappointing.
Large toilets which accommodated our disabled guests . parking around the back but large amount of steep steps that made it really hard for elderly and disabled to access from that side.

We had a meal here recently that wasn't exactly what I'd expect for 90 dollars steak was cold chips where undercooked and the Parma was bland and all the bread crumbs where falling off it when we brought it to the attention of the stuff the women who was serving us got very defensive straight away.

after she did offer us two drinks for the poor meals we declined and where slightly annoyed at the thought that a 8 dollar drink would suffice over what was a 90 dollar meal at any other pub it would be money back in pocket or atleast half of what you paid

Been here several times. Great all round pub with good meals that came out quickly. We made it just in time before the kitchen closed too.
Totally enjoyed my Mediterranean Salmon from the specials board including the garlic bread with cheese, beautiful flavours.

SO DISAPPOINTED !!
1x soup,, 1x lambs fry and bacon,, 1x roast of the day,, sunday lunch $60

you have 1 chance to impress new customers and you totally blew it by serving soup that was tasteless and not even the right color.. potato and leek is white,, not the orange color I was served.. had about 4 mouthful's and was done,, not even extra salt could fix it !!
packet mash,, packet gravy,, "tubes" left in the lambs fry,, bacon that wasn't cooked for more than 30 seconds,, roast pork that was more fat than meat,, packet gravy exactly the same as on the lambs fry,, no roast potato only a boiled one,, rock hard pumpkin and carrot so dry it was curling at the edges.. you got it so wrong so won't bother to tell you to do better as we won't be back..
could have overlooked a few things but not all that..
total YUCK !!
(following review with pic of roast pork looks way better than what was served today...)

Nice pub grub type food, on a rainy day in a warm space. Male server seemed to have a lot of trouble taking my order, even though he seemed senior/possibly even manager... Pleasant female took over and made it a lot less arduous, so thank you! Halloumi burger was a bit cold but nonetheless tasty. Family enjoyed cheese burger, steak (tender) sandwich, soup of the day, all delicious. Reasonably priced too.

Dinner with a group last night (22/6). Managed to snag the last of the pork ribs for my wife, $37 or thereabouts. We've come to expect mostly fabulous ribs elsewhere but these were VERY disappointing and way overpriced considering the absolute sparsity of meat, not to mention lack of tenderness which is normally a reasonable expectation. My bangers & mash on the other hand was quite acceptable.

My recommendation is definitely give the ribs a wide berth.

It was a cold fresh windy day and this was a great warm escape for a late lunch.
The food was exceptional and the chef was kind enough to cater for my daughter's allergies. The service was kind and inviting. There was something missing from the atmosphere maybe it was the music ??

We got taken in by the history of the place online. However, when we stepped inside our expectations dropped. The decor is just old and shabby. The menu is nothing inspiring but as travellers we were keen on bangers & mash and chicken schnitty. Couldn't go wrong with the basics. How wrong we were. Very disappointed. Over priced low quality food and service.

3.6 out of 5. This is an historic old pub in the middle of the Mornington shopping strip. Our expectations were fairly low after seeing the inside of the place which is rather 90s and looking a little shabby. The lunch meal was pretty good though. I had the pork roast which was tasty with nice meat and vegetables. Eating here is a reasonable option.

Overall experience good, well worth a visit. The food was ok, not amazing but far from ordinary. The service is solid and they try really hard for you to have a good experience. Chef probably lets it down slightly as my food was exceptionally salty and my wife said the same. Other than that though good venue and reasonable food

I have been going to the grand for over 50 years. Had a nice meal in the sports bar. Food was very good ??'?. Reasonable price too. I had the Bream which was fresh. Very tasty. Would recommend the grand for a meal with friends anytime.

A lovely old pub we have been to many, many times during the years since the 60's. Went for lunch today with my Mum, lovely meals and staff were friendly. The only downside trying to get in and out by the heavy front entrance with a wheelchair is a struggle and especially when female staff member ignore or not notice anyone having difficulty opening the doors. I think it time for an automatic door, don't you.

Went for lunch, my husband and I had fish and chips, was the worst fish and chips we'd ever had, the fish had a funny taste to it and the grilled fish was cooked like it was poached, and was crumbly, the battered fish was all batter. We don't usually write reviews but we won't go back there, have been there a long time ago and the meals used to be quite nice.

It was ok, wouldn't say great, or no wow factor.
Sunday lunch around 1230, was fairly packed but we got seated (appreciated).

Was fairly close to other diners and I felt there covid density quotas were prob exceeded on the dining floor, but push on.

Food:
Satay chicken entree- good size, average taste.
Chicken schnitzel- again ok, veg a bit dry and no offering of any sauces.
Side of mashed potato was good.

Special board is up on the south wall, no mention of that to I noticed it after we ordered.

20 min wait time to receive food.

Overall, average...good serving size, but food quality a little average, again with no wow factor.

After 1pm the line to order was constantly long.

If you go there, check the hallway to the back door and toilets for some great historic pics of the area.

I have been coming to the Grand for many years and always enjoyed my visit, tonight my family and I went to the Grand for dinner and the meals came in good time but the unfriendly staff who made you feel like it was a bother to assist you put a damper on the evening. Not sure if I will be back anytime soon.

Disappointed! The old friendly atmosphere, gone. The waitress taking your order at the table, gone. The bread rolls, gone. When the queue built up at the main bar we were told to go into the sports bar to get our drinks, really! They couldnt move someone from the sorts bar to serve us, instead tried to herd us into the sports bar. We felt like a number standing at the counter to order food, where the sign said that we were there on a public holiday so everything carried a 10% surcharge. It was Saturday!! Only good Friday and Easter Monday are gazetted public holidays. Been going there for 7 years, We normally go in a group of 4 or 6. We wont be back.

Being a diner for 35 years at the Grand Dining rooms I was used to good service , Or you would go to the bar area where one would order and pay for the meal at a lower price then the meal would be delivered to the table in the bar area.Well the new dining room has No Rolls, no service , get your own water from the bar, queue up and pay in advance a long way from being ideal.

Had lunch with friends on a Wednesday which is market day in Mornington, so very busy but the service was good. I had lamb shank with a tomato gravy, served on a bed of mashed potato with vegetables. It was delicious. The lamb was cooked to perfection; falling off the bone. The sticky date pudding to follow was very good also.
