Was booked in to Jardine for my birth stay, as accommodation was tight on Thursday Island for most of May and June.
I checked into Jardine but got sent over to Federal Motel rooms. There were guys repainting the whole area and I felt drowsy from the smell of paint. Why are there still people checking into this place when there is renovations going on. Not healthy for someone who is heavily pregnant. 😀
Thumbs down to the service altogether there, I would not recommend anyone to stay here. Rooms where dirty , toilet & shower door lock was broken, cleaners never came around which meant that I had to clean the room myself and which also meant that bed linen and towels were never collected and replaced with fresh ones.
TV wasn't working when I got in, that had to be swapped over from another room next door. The Toilet started to leak and there was never hot water for showers. There is no cooking/ washing facilities on site.
Smoking area and beer garden is right next to the rooms so my partner and son had to cop loud noise from drunks during the night.
Federal seriously needs a major upgrade in all rooms before anyone should stay there. Only good thing was breakfast, but that was at Jardine which meant walking down from Federal in the morning to catch breakfast.
