Great to see such a beautiful old pub still trading when many others in town have closed. Awesome art-deco arched doors in the working-class public bar are worth a visit. Friendly staff but not much on tap, not even soft drink. $13 for a standard bourbon & coke was excessive - I think they charged me extra for the can of coke they had to open. Sad to find pokies in the public bar when there's a dedicated gaming room in the pub as well: no escape from the lure - or trading on addiction to stay afloat?

They don't serve wine (even though there's a bottle shop next door) as not enough people around here drink it. There's a gaming room as well as pokies in the main bar. Good bar snacks, I had the chicken toasted sandwich which was really nice. The staff were friendly.

Very good and friendly staff, always open for a joke so if you wanna have a laugh come to the commonwealth hotel
