My wife enjoyed the Middle Pub chicken schnitzel and I had Duck Breast
Both were excellent and at very reasonable prices but the bottle of wine we bought was about 3 times regular retail price

Comfortable country pub. Daily lunch specials for around $12. Menu is decent and well priced. The addition of a salad bar with a good choice of salads equals an extra star.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Overall, our food wasn't great, but not terrible either - pretty standard stuff, although the chips weren't fresh and were leathery.

Meals - ham steak and pineapple, calamari schnitzel.

I'd eat here again.

The middle pub has improved amazingly under the care and guidance of the new owner. Food was excellent and the dining room was busy and had a really nice family-friendly atmosphere about it. They even have an entirely separate vegetarian/vegan menu which I have not seen offered in a pub before. This was a huge blessing to me, as other pubs in The Valley offer almost nothing for their vegetarian guests. The customer service from the very first phone call to book a table was first class. The bar and waiting staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. Even had the pleasure of being introduced to the new owner. What a kind hearted and very pleasant man! We have finally found "our pub" after a long search. I'm excited to see where the new owner takes this lovely hotel into the future. Highly recommend this place.

OMG! Waited almost 1.5hrs without an apology from management for our meals. Table booked for ~20 people and we received such poor service. Meals were OK thanks God. We can only assume that the staff are prioritising takeaways and uber Eats over patrons dining in. A failure of service on so many levels.

Went in for a family lunch (2 Adults & 3 kids). First impression "Zero". No service, no.greeting, no host. Not sure if I have to grab a table myself or someone will, not sure if it was a table service or OTC service. After observing for a while than I figured out. Seated on the table ordered at the counter Kids Calamari and full-size Schnitzels. I will say below average. Kids calarlmari was overcooked and hard, Schnitzel was luke warm and had no salad. Not a value for a money. Neither recommended and nor going back again. Waste of money.

Had dinner with a group and not only my meal others in the group complained about theirs. My T Bone steak was supposed to be medium it came out overcooked tough burnt the pepper sauce was burned the chips had too much salt. I would not recommend the Clare Hotel for food. Go to Foodland cook your own food.

Booked a pre wedding dinner for 43 people. From the get go there was no issues or concerns given the large numbers. Updated booking time and numbers on 2 occasions and the staff were more than happy for numbers to even be confirmed on the day. Had more people turn up on the night than expected and the staff were more than accommodating and arranged for extra tables. Food was great and very reasonably priced, particularly their specials menu, fish and chips & calamari and chips, large serves $12.00, not to mention the good old fashioned but delicious salad bar with warm bread rolls. Food came out fast and all orders correct. Couldn't be happier with their service and food especially sharing the evening together with family and friends in anticipation of the wedding the following day.

So much potential missed, or ignored, a great historical building begging to be noticed, traditionally travellers gather for food, drink and companionship, story telling.
Sadly uninspiring, lacking creativity, or fanfare, dishes. Patrons left standing in a place surrounded by some of the best produce in the world, yet served nothing resembling grown in paddocks 2 kilometres away, by proud families of farmers.
It takes a chef, with that same passion of growers to deliver it to a plate. We all deserve and demand better, please entice your long suffering locals and travellers back for a reason.

Had a delicious lunch here which was affordable and had a very generous serving. Simple but nice ambience and setting. The staff were friendly and nice with quick service too. Had a salad bar with a great selection of fresh salads and toppings which was a fantastic bonus !

We were able get a great Seafood Plate as a takeaway. There was enough for 2 people and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Awesome lunch menu. We had calamari schnitzel which was delicious and Middle Pub chicken schnitzel (topped with prawns, avocado, sweet chilli and sour cream) was so good. Highly recommend. They also have $12 lunch specials.

Be prepared for one of the worst food ever. The lasagna was dry no sauce no cheese some meat....just hard to eat. The steak and chips are the only thing fresh the rest all comes from a pack straight in the microwave and then to your plate. Service is good the girls are very friendly but nothing can help that bad food.

Visited for dinner, the dining room was nice and all the staff are happy and friendly. I ordered a garlic bread, the barramundi and my partner had the beef snitz. The salad bar looked good and fresh, and all the food was good.

The Middle Pub, it feels great to walk into after so many years away & not a lot has changed. Don't get me wrong, it's been updated over the years, but it still keeps its history. Love it! Lunch was well worth it also.

Had a wonderful walk around Clare and called in for a quick light Lunch.
For the $12. It was a full evening meal.

Ordered the $12.00 special fish and chips.The fish was so soft that it virtually dissolved once you cut it. It had no taste whatsoever and you could tell that it had been frozen for such a long time.

We were staying at the Discovery Park in Clare and they gave us a voucher for a free drink with the purchase of a main meal at the Clare Hotel. Lovely pub, we had the Roast Pork $18, came with a salad bar to choose from and lovely warm bread rolls.

Good food at great prices unusual to see a salad bar at the price. Top hotel with great staff.

We had the crispiest wedges, huge steak sandwich, delicious vegan burger and kids meals and everything was perfect! The salad bar was fresh and our waitress went above and beyond. Prices were great. Couldn't fault it 🙂

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the restaurant at the Clare Hotel and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food. I ordered the 3 meat dish with chips and added mushrooms, and it was amazing. The meats were cooked to perfection and the addition of mushrooms added an extra layer of flavor. We went to the Clare hotel on a Tuesday evening and I found their vegetarian menu was great and provided good options. The quality of the food was decent and the portion size was good. It's nothing fancy, but typical for what you'd expect for a pub meal. The wait time for our food was quite reasonable. The staff were all friendly.

Worth a stop by if you're passing through Clare.

While the wife and I stayed in Clare for our anniversary over a weekend, we decided to dine both night we were up the at this establishment. First night was fish & chips for the wife, while I had the calamari schnitzel, which both was delicious. The second night the wife had bangers & mash, I chose the barramundi on a sweet potato mash.
Great food with great service to go with it.
Can't wait to go back.

Meals for dinner are from 5.30pm. Absolutely delicious and the salad bar is back! I think this is a lease-operated hotel and the building owner needs to dig in and support a little more development for leasee. A little more love would make tremendous issue when staff are already this good.

A shocking meal at was supposed to be the best hotel in Clare. At $40 the crumbed chops were dry, swimming in congealed gravy and chips were lukewarm. Mixed grill was huge but crumbed food was dry, egg wasn't cooked and the meal was tasteless. tasteless. On a positive note the salad was good as was the chocolate pudding and bar service was good. Very disappointing $90 meal.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Decided to order a porterhouse steak, med/rare. My grandmother used to have a saying when a steak was tough,. " you could make shoes with it". She was right. Disappointing. Cook informed. I ordered a glass of Cabernet to go with it. Well, that bottle must've been open numerous days, it was off. Seriously guys, business wants to bounce back after Covid, you got me once. Really disappointing.

I am new to the clare area and have visited a few local pubs ,
Tonight we found the middle pub in clare , wow from the min we walked in we felt nothing but welcome , then came the food, my goodness I was nothing but impresses, from the Oysters to the ribs it was perfectly cooked, please guys keep your menu and chef 100% impressed we will definitely be back , thank you for a wonderful night 🌙

Beyond disappointed. We understand mistakes happen, but to only offer additional bread rolls on a lost order and to wait longer then 30 minutes to not receive them. I hope other patron have better luck then us. Total wait with out receiving our meal 1 hr 50ins

Great value for money. Accommodation is comfortable, clean, room spacious. Ensuite small but sufficient. Good quality bedding. Little outdated and basic decor. Location on main road so can be noisy but close to cafes, supermarket and chemist. Bar, restaurant and service staff helpful and friendly. Would be happy to come again.

Stayed 4 nights in the up stairs accommodation after an Air BnB was less than desirable and I had to find a clean bed, last minute!
Staff were so understanding and sympathetic, making room for me and ensuring my experience was good.
Although the accommodation is basic, there is no doubt it's clean and comfortable!

Friendly staff, the meals are huge with reasonable prices. Definitely go back agai.

The $11 specials are good value. I had the crunchy prawns with dipping sauce and chips which were pretty nice.nThe salad bar is excellent.

We had a meal here the other night and it was fantastic! They have a fantastic menu. So many meals to chose from. The bar staff and dinner room staff were excellent they would do anything to help you out. We will definitely be back. It a great place to stop!

The barmaid by the name of Rachel was extremely rude and gave appalling customer service. Yes it may have been taken as a breakdown in communication in regards to a receipt, but nevertheless that is no way to speak to a customer with such negligence and attitude. Clearly needs a stern talking to and retraining, or find another job as the hospitality industry is clearly not for her. Other than that the other staff were extremely helpful, the food was good and the cheap accommodation was ok. Would love to hear from the manager or even better the owner to discuss her disgusting attitude and how she thinks it's acceptable to talk to people like that.

Great lunch special love the food but the salad bar could be a little better

I had the squid schnitzel that Wes cooked to perfection. The wife had the kangaroo cooked perfect and mum had king George whiting yum yum. And I have to say the salad bar was fantastic the tomato and onion salad was fantastic and the perfect side for my squid. Canu2019t wait to dine there again.
