Play Pokies at The Caxton Hotel in Petrie Terrace

An iconic Queensland pub in the Caxton Street precinct which I hadn't been in for years until this week (14/01/2025) when I came in ahead of a gig my son was doing at Lefty's Music Hall across the road. Had a cold beer in the sports bar first then dinner with my other kids. The pork chops were delicious although very slightly overdone for my taste, and the accompanying vegetables were just spot on. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was very professional.

Euphoric as f. There is a corner with 8 QLD maroons jerseys in a row (coz we won 8 in a row). There was lots of powederfinger songs and northern original jugs were pretty cheap. Went there for a few broncos games last season and it was the place to be. I reckon anyone that couldn't get tickets to the games went to the Cacko instead. Also there was a few random chicks who hit on me and my mate Sam but we are already taken men so we kindly asked the women to look elsewhere. Lines for the bar gets long around a Suncorp game but it's good all other times. The staff were friendly. We were waiting outside to get on the beers for the first pour of the day and they let us in a few minutes early (didn't give us beers until bang on whenever the liquor license started because they were a legit venue) but happy quenched our thirst as soon as they could. I heard the Caxton st hotel hats that they have behind the bar are $20 each but they gave us some for free because we looked like some proper Queenslanders. Also ran into some random bloke with the same Milton mango shirt as me - he was probably double my age but instantly became my best mate. Also there is a fully sick metal ibis holding a NRL ball now sitting on the venue. I'd highly recommend getting a photo of it especially if you're coming from Milton train station and you've obviously already got a photo of the one on top of the xxxx factory holding a tinny (peak Brisbane form). Love this place, 300gm steak special is one of the best steaks You'll find, staff are fantastic, atmosphere is awesome, TV'S viewable from almost every table yet still quite quiet so You can converse while You eat. Prices very reasonable across the board.

The restaurant was very quiet for a Friday night. The service was excellent. The food was over cooked and bland.

So juicy, tender and flavoursome. Everything on plate was perfectly done. The waitresses are very friendly too.
