Play Pokies at Barron Falls Hotel in Kuranda

Ordered and recieved (in good time) 4 of the Worst "over fried dry chicken schnitzels" and ordinary (as well dry) chips any of us ever tasted, if it wasn't for the fact we were all relatively hungry and a time frame to catch the train we would and should have taken them all back. The backpacker waitress apologised a few times and offered us all another meal after seeing the plates half eaten but time was on thd Pubs side this time as we had to catch the train to Cairns. Sorry but shitful job of the meal.

Actually I'm giving this venue a ZERO. Arrived for lunch on a Thursday. As we approached the front door we could smell the toilets (it was not pleasant) and inebriated people were milling around outside. The tables and chairs have the impression of a 70's pub, no atmosphere. Outside dining appeared pleasant but cigarette smokers made this not an option. We enquired about the menu (we read the good reviews and we wanted to try) 'So sorry the kitchen is closed today'....we missed that on the board on the way in. We were specifically checking this venue as we have a number of guests from interstate and OS who will be staying locally with us. Needless to say this will NOT be on our list of places to visit.

Great staff, super friendly! We were stuck in Kuranda due to the cyclone & it was a Sunday, so all the shops and restaurants had closed. Jeff kindly cooked us a lovely curry and made us feel welcome, even staying open later for us all.

Stopped off to this lovely pub while in Port on cruise.
I had heard about the price gauges that happen on cruise day but was pleasantly surprised that this pubs meals were very reasonably priced and yummy (unlike other locals.)
