We had dinner here before a show at The Seymour Centre. Will go again - the pizzas were excellent (great thin base) and one of our group enjoyed the fish and chips. Basic menu but well executed, fast service, good selection of wines and beers. We did book and so were in a quieter section of the hotel. Good value and we had plenty of time to enjoy our dinner before leaving for the theatre.

God's gift to Earth

Located in god's country, Chippendale (often referred to as the Manhattan of Sydney), this fine establishment has housed many a laugh, with smiles stretching from ear to ear that sometimes I am worried my skin will tear. From darts to pool to trivia, you will never run out of activities. I would LOVE to recommend that you all come down and enjoy a pub feed (all food options from pizza to schnittys are bonza!) whilst guzzling down a pint of Guinness (although $15 is on the expensive side, please bring this down. Or at least give me a stamp card where every 10th Guinness is free!) in the exquisite outdoor undercover beer garden, but I don't want to overcrowd Sydney's greatest pub

When I die bury me at The Rose ?

Fantastic Sunday roast. Vego and vegan options too. Beer selection is quite limited tho

In a world awash with veggie burgers, there's only one patty crime: the frozen patty made of frozen peas and corn. I thought these had disappeared when sticky date pudding was a thing...yeah "check yourself" golden days. Here it's either been preserved or recreated. A bite into an idea whose time long passed. Saving this sadness are great pickles and the world's fave fries. Good service at the counter, and a reasonable wait time drags this 1* patty to a 3* result. But guys, get a contemporary patty.

Great atmosphere with friendly staff. Mostly craft beers on tap but nice and cold. Tasty looking menu also

Went there because it was perfectly located for an early dinner before a show at the Seymour Centre across the road. Loved it. The staff were great; helpful and pleasant (like the atmosphere). I had the Friday special - a humble beef burger and chips. Honestly, it was the best burger, pub or otherwise. Plenty of beer choices, too. As Arnie said, "I'll be back"!

A great local pub with a menu that changes regularly. Pizzas and burgers are the mainstays but there's always a good 6-8 other main course options.

Been here a number of times, fantastic food combined with fantastic atmosphere. Very good pub fair, with the chicken burger and spring rolls being some of the best out there. Craft beer taps were very broad as well, with some good classics combined with a few independent taps.

Have to admit that having to order food and drinks at the bistro and at the bar is not desirable. Poor service people having to run between the bar and the bistro, especially at start of afternoon service. Just a nitpick though, great experience overall!

This pub is a reliable choice that offers the classic pub food experience. They do a good job of serving up the usual pub fare. It has become my regular spot for grabbing dinner before heading to the nearby Seymour Centre for a show.

Gorgeous bar and restaurant. Lovely vibe, good deals, open late enough to get a few beers after a show at the Seymour Centre just down the road. Truly one of the nicer experiences I've had in Sydney.

Wow !! We were so pleasantly surprised by our accidental pub experience last night. We needed somewhere to eat before going to the theatre and decided on this pub. We did book a couple of hours earlier as it is the party season and we so happy with our choice.
The food was amazing... BEST chicken schnitzel I have ever had !! I would have loved some salad leaves but what was there was divine !! Others in our party had pizzas which were fabulous and the prawn salad went down a treat as well.
Great service !! Friendly staff !!
What a great meeting place. TEN OUT OF TEN !! Definitely coming back soon !!

Ten of us had dinner before we went across the road to the Seymour Theatre. The place was pumping, the beer garden was packed with people have fun. I had the Oven roasted salmon fillet, with asparagus, prosciutto, beetroot, yoghurt and lemon herb sauce, with a glass or two of the black diamond beer and it was delicious.

Love this pub. Great outdoor area (which can be covered in rainy weather) which is dog-friendly and has pool tables. Theyll even prep a dog-friendly meal if you ask which is awesome. Great staff and prompt service with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Can get busy for Friday lunch so best to get there early. Very popular during warmer months, especially with universities nearby. Good menu, good beer selection, and good vibes.

This pub is a little bit of everything that you could possibly need in a pub. First of all, the food is fantastic and honestly if you want some delicious options you can try literally anything and be totally satisfied. The staff are very lovely, and there's various different areas of this place you can sit in with friends and enjoy yourself. Some cosier than others like the upstairs area, as well as the downstairs area is more open and airy probably better in summer. Would highly recommend

I went there first time for a Christmas party organized by ASM Australian Society for Microbiology. This hotel is located very close to city and has 2 floors where you can relax and catch up with your friends. The function was good as I met with my colleagues. We had pizzas , beers and wine.

It's an okay place. Loud and crowded for my liking, also not suitable for cold weather.

The burger special was good, took awhile to be ready though. The beer was absolutely fantastic ??'?

Would recommend for groups of 4 people or larger.

Celebrated my son's 21st last night. Staff were brilliant, efficient, friendly and accommodating. Pizzas were delicious, great location and the venue has a great atmosphere This whole event was so stress free from booking to the end of the night. A big thank you to all the staff for making the night a great success.

We had a work function and it was amazing. The food was great, the venue was perfect for a large group and the drinks were sensational. Damian was THE best cocktail person I've encountered and can't wait to visit the venue again.

great range on independent beers. I went in for the trivia which was also run by a single person, much nicer than those that are done by a chain. good service and clientele means this place is a must go!

Such a good pub. I've had my birthday drinks there for maybe three of the past four years (there was a slight interruption last year for some reason) lovely beer garden to spend an afternoon in drinking a good selection craft beers and chowing down on pizzas.
Then Damien opens up his whisky and cocktail bar and begins blowing the minds of myself and my friends who think we know something about whisky.
We have a lot yet to learn!

Food is a bit expensive for what it is. A mate got a fried chicken burger that smelt off, staff were very accommodating and made him a beef burger replacement. Drinks choice is always good

Great beer garden, good service, decor is really amazing. Check out the mural on the ceiling above the front bar. If only the menu had more varied and cheaper food options. The $34 steak is fairly ordinary for the price point. Also kids should be banned from using the pool table - when we were there on Sunday kids under ten were playing pool, running amuck and screaming at the top of their lungs, no thanks to some rather drunk parents who obviously don't know how to control their children

For good, quick pub food you can't go past The Rose Hotel. I had the chicken parmigiana, which was ample, and provided the sustenance required to view a dated gay play at The Seymour Centre.

I have never experienced what I experienced at the Rose which used to be our favourite place to drink. Blonde guy with glasses who I believe is the manager swore at our table and told us we would have to pay 200 bucks because 10 people were 15 mins late, bearing in mind we had booked a room and had paid for a $1000 tab prior to even arriving as it was our cmas party. We were given a table in the smoking area instead of the room that we paid for. We had been warned by a party next to us (also out for their Christmas party) that they had been charged 300 bucks for their colleagues arriving late and thought they were joking.Ive never been spoken to before the way we have been on this night and I cannot believe it, as it used to be our favourite place to drink. So disappointing - the rose has lost a lot of customers due to this guys behaviour and we will continue to tell people about this until its resolved.

Unfriendly hospitality staff. Bar tender shouted at me to fill in the covid check in and "needed to see the green tick" before I could enter the trivia area. This was all well and good except for the fact that he then proceeded to completely ignore me while I stood there with my green tick screen on full display and he proceeded to serve two patrons back to back as he forgot about me.Throughout the night wait staff would bump or knock into me as they were clearing plates and glasses. No semblance of social distancing enforced. At least trivia was fun. Master was engaging and maintained a positive atmosphere.

Upset that I didn't take any photos...Have to say the most refreshing lemon lime and bitters I've ever had...Their buttermilk fried chicken burger?? The best I've had in Sydney.. And I get around.. It was soo juicy and tender oh, I forgot to mention the shoestring fries.. Pricey, but worth it..Compliments to the bartender and chef...I'll be back again..

It's good but they could go more craft like always, Still mix the beer garden into it and all the other pub features it's still somewhere you must visit, it's 50/50 craft commercial it's a awesome pub

An excellent pub. Well designed and comforting beer garden. An extensive selection of good beers without threading into being pretentious. Electric decor and attentive staff. It's craft beers are well priced compared to its competitors in the area. It is also a relaxing place while maintaining a sense of liveliness.
