Thank you to the Gov hotel for a great birthday experience. The rooftop is such a nice and relaxing space. Perfect for any event. The service was exceptional. Thank you Robin for looking after us so well. The food here is always good. We eat here often and it is always fresh and tasty. I highly recommend the halloumi burger, swap the normal fries out for the sweet potato fries you won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back.

I've had many espresso martinis here but I have to say that Hunter makes the best by far!
I will only get my espresso martinis from him. He is also very friendly and polite.

Absolutely lovely staff. Great place to gather with your old buddies for a catch-up. We met after few decades and the staff here didn't disappoint us. Quite courteous, helpful, and welcoming. Food was great and plenty of room and choices of spaces. We will definitely visit again and would recommend to others too without hesitation. Adding a photo here so you see the facilities available, including plentiful car parking.

The rooftop was very nice and spacious with live music which brightened the atmosphere. The fungi pizza was delicious! Overall, its good place to hang out and catch up with mates.

Although on busy nights you would have to yell to hear each other over the recorded music and crowds of people.

Honestly I am so disappointed. I've been here many times, hosted Melbourne cup events for my staff and family dinners but today was horrible.
It pains me to share this review but all 3 of the guests were equally underwhelmed.
We ordered when it was extremely quiet and 45 mins go by and no entrees or mains - we follow up and surprise surprise it comes out immediately. It was just sitting at the kitchen and not brought out so the mains were cold.
No entrees arrived.. we asked another 2 times and then they arrived once we had finished our mains. Other issues with food, besides being cold and underwhelming:
- Ordered an extra patty on the chicken burger, no other choice to select another piece of chicken.. they put a beef patty on it? If I ordered another patty on a beef burger would it be a chicken one? Makes no sense why they did that - it was a strange experience
- Chicken wings inedible, burnt and dry
- calamari was rubbery, chewey and bouncy
- parmigiana had so much toppings it was buried in cheese and sauce

Overall one of the most underwhelming lunches I've ever had. Based on this I will not be back. So terrible.

Average food and slow service but good place to meet. Little to no parking available on site. This pub has nice decor with many floors for different things - functions, sports bar, bistro and rooftop. The rooftop bar has live music on a Saturday night which was good although a little loud. The outdoor area lacked sufficient heaters and it was freezing during the winter. The indoor area lacked good vibe although is warmer. Food menu is limited with mainly deep fried food. The food took a while to arrive but tasted acceptable for pub quality food.

The Governor Hotel has steadily become my go to place for special celebrations as it has everything you could want for a great night out. Quiet areas (downstairs), outdoor seating and large gathering space upstairs.

I have visited on a few occasions with large groups and everyone has loved the food!

Ambience is especially good on the roof top bar and I believe they have live music a few nights of the week.

A really good spot for an intimate meal or large gathering, I was very impressed by the Governor Hotel.

We were staying at the Courtyard Marriott and the staff there recommended this place to us. It was so good that we went back two days in a row. Great food, nice ambience and friendly staff - what more could one want ?

Nice upscale pub to watch the ufc at and pretty good pizzas too. Unfortunately, it was the only food available at Sunday lunchtime and we would have appreciated signage/ notice of this. Also keen to see the rooftop open sometime soon.

Great food and good location! Friendly staff, but you got to pay upfront and pick up plates yourself. It's certainly a great looking and tasting dish worth getting up for. Parking free and easy onsite and underground. Easy access with elevator to the parking and No steps, highly recommended!

The rooftop of The Governor Hotel is a lovely place to dine when it's a beautiful day.

Unfortunately, the food was very average. My tofu flatbread was comically low effort: a block of firm tofu sliced in half, coated in sweet chilli sauce and laid on shredded cabbage and two pieces of pita bread. Something I could easily make at home, and I am no cook. The lamb flatbread was equally unimpressive.

My friend also found the schnitzel to be dry. I think the sweet potato fries and buttermilk chicken wings were better options. The cocktail jugs were alright too.

Yummy pub food! We ordered sweet potato fries, pizza and pasta. Food were great and came with large servings. There were limited parking Available. There were plenty of seats available and no booking required.

Great venue with different vibes/ambience across different area depending what you're feeling. Great service as well.

We had food and drinks on level 2 (sports bar type of vibes) where the pool tables and arcades were. Had a couple of pizzas; prosciutto ($24), funghi ($22), meat lover ($24). Pizza bases were bready, takes some effort to chew through. Toppings were generous. Quality was decent. We also ordered a second time and it was a tad under.

Though pizzas were served on the second floor, you'd have to grab pizzas boxes from ground floor for takeaways.

Plenty of seating available but the food from
downstairs bistro is way better than the rooftop kitchen. There's also way more variety downstairs. The buttermilk fried chicken WINGS we bought were ALL drumsticks. Not one wing to be found? why call them wings then ??'"?
Tortilla chips were stale unfortunately and the guac was watery.
Sweet potato chips were the best thing we ordered and the aioli went well with it.

ordered via QR code which is handy for a location like this, and was texted when the order was ready to collect. hosts and bar staff were friendly, food was great although there was a very small food selection and was somewhat expensive... atmosphere was friendly, comfortable and fun.

we sat on the roof top, we got there by lift and stairs, I saw their response to another review saying they are working on the access to the roof top bar which will be great to see

Great food - not too expensive but yummy and filled me up ! A good sign - have 2 more floors with pool tables, pinball and darts ! Oh and an upstairs open air bar / club

We enjoyed a great family lunch on a Sunday in one of their booth tables. Excellent menu options for all ages, diets and food preferences as well as full bar offering wine, cocktails and usual mixed drinks. The porchetta for main and hot brownie for dessert are very tasty. We did not get a chance to enjoy the rooftop bar and terrace so head up and try as well.

Been there twice and tried different dishes!! Very high quality foods with great portions!
Pumpkin salad is one of the best!
Also tried steak and really enjoyed!
Highly recommend to visit!

Birthday lunch here, food was delicious, staff super friendly and helpful. I booked a table ahead of time. Pricing is reasonable for the size of meals you get. Only struggle is parking. It's limited. But there is street parking.

There were 5 of us for a meeting/lunch!! I live in the Eastern suburbs and I must say that it was so easy to arrive and sit in one of the lovely booths - so roomy as well for the 5 of us.

My daughter ordered and the food was fantastic.

All of us in the meeting are in the Hospitality Industry in one way or another and the venue was chosen by a company who has their office right near the Govenor.

We had a great meeting and lunch and enjoyed the ambience and relaxed atmosphere of your venue.

Great atmosphere, food and service. The rooftop bar is amazing and a vibe every weekend. This place surpasses everything you would expect when visiting a pub. Staff are friendly from the second you walk in to the second you walk out. A must visit for those near and far.

We had an enjoyable time for a work event at the rooftop terrace. Food and drinks were amazing and we loved the setting. Staff was really nice and background music was good. Definitely the place to go around this area!

Had the NSW check-in QR code right at the entrance and staffs were welcoming. During the service also staffs were smiling and service was top notch. My feedback would be to maintain consistency on food. We had several orders as it was a Christmas lunch from the office and we noticed that same veggie pasta would taste different on different tables. Not that it was bad but the taste difference was pretty much observed by everyone who were jumping from here to there and sharing a bite.

We came here for a work Christmas party. We had booked a table upstairs. 2 hours into the dinner we were approached by staff informing us we had to move due to our table being booked for another function. This was not mentioned to us when we booked.We ended up moving down stairs.On top of that we had a islander staff member arrived who was denied access due to his hair cut. The young man had travelled from penrith to attend the work function and had made an effort to dress appropriately. His hair cut was smart and clean. However the manager decided it wasn't to his standard and refused entry.I would never recommend this place.They are definitely not inclusive and have no people skills or respect for people.Also, food is way over priced. $140 for 7 tiny bowls of salt and pepper calamari is the perfect example.

I honestly don't understand how on earth van this establishment have as good a rating as it does. From Parking to check in to good and service, I found it really hard to think of a positive to our recent experience.1. Be prepared NOT to park at the hotel and instead having to find parking elsewhere. And when I say elsewhere, it won't be close.2. We booked the rooftop. To my disappointment it was completely lacking ambience. Music too low, lights too bright, staff unenthusiastic. If you expected beer on tap, too bad. NO BEER ON TAP3. Service was shocking. Staff talking to each other at the bar, and I was waiting on a queue for 10 minutes with only two groups in from of me with simple drink orders. My friend was gone for 15 minutes. They're were at least 4 stay at the bar but far more interested in their own banter than customer.4. Food took 1hr and the buzzer was never buzzed.5. I ordered sharing plate about which I asked at the bar whether it is an entree size or main size as it was priced same as pizza. The bartender clearly didn't have a clue as his answer what somewhat ambiguous although he did eventually day that they might by more an entree size. Well...6. The squid was 7 pieces - so yes, definitely an entree size. They were thick and chewy and underseasoned. The pizza was overloaded and a little soggy in the middle.7. Pricing of meals was out of proportion.Will absolutely not come back.The two stars are for good cleanliness of amenities.

We regularly eat at the bistro restaurant. The quantity of the food is excellent, and good value for money. Staff are efficient and friendly. The restaurant is spacious and has a variety of seating options. The kids in particular love the train seat booths! We have not had a poor experience here yet. Great for a family meal or a casual catchup with friends.

Good vibes. Great food. Even better service! Was greeted At the door by Catriona?, who set the bar high for our night! She ensured we had a great experience and enjoyed a fantastic night! Would definately recommend trying it out!
