I'm sorry, although the food is great, the quality of service is rather reasonable. They seriously don't know how to use their billing system. Last night we had 12 people at a table, and all our drinks were paid for separately. At the end of the night, one of the staff members was actually shouting at members of our party saying an item had not been paid for. We had ALL paid. This has now happened to us 3 times at the end of the night about food or drinks. I am a Bathurst local that used to frequent The George every month or so. Not any more, we all keep track of what is on our food bill, why can't you?

Burger was good, other Food was ok, steak was overcooked along with overcooked prawns. Salad was great. On the pricey side for pub food but it is a newly renovated placed. Great selection of beers on tap

One of the worst dinners I've had in Bathurst! I ordered a ribeye steak medium rare. It came thinly sliced (that's not ribeye) and was tough and very well done. After finally getting the attention of the waiter, I showed him how the steak was and he apologised and walked off! I was charged $49 for that steak even though I told him I was unhappy with it and did not want it. I will never eat there again. Terrible service and the food was so disappointing.

This place was pumping on the Saturday night we were there. I had the burramundi. Couldn't fault it. Excellent beverage selection at reasonable prices. Would love to return.

Staff exceptional, attentive know the menu, eye for detail and courteous. Menu easy to read, food delicious. It was our pleasure to eat there twice and the meals were delicious. Barramundi yummy, cheese platter delectable. Thank you to the staff you made our night. It's was our last night of Country Womens Association Conference and we are from Jervis Bay CWA.

Right in the heart of Bathurst we stopped here for just a quick bite expecting general pub food. To our surprise we were treated to excellent food, great beer and hospitable service! The Korean Fried Chicken was as good as any I have had here in Sydney, the beef salad was fresh and tasty and while my bruschetta was good, it was let down by the cheap bread used as the base.

The George has an excellent range of beers and many options for relaxing either indoors, outside or by the open windows.

A lovely experience and would certainly go back to try other dishes.

Called in for Breakfast before the long drive home. We spent over $130 and received no food or coffees. We constantly spoke with staff who assured us that it was on it's way. After an hour a senior staff member admitted that our order slip had been thrown away and they had no idea what we had ordered. After 90mins our coffees and food finally arrived and the order was incorrect. At this point the manager took our order again and nearly 2 hours later we received the correct items. The food and coffee were lovely but very disappointed in the service.

Being our first year wedding anniversary we thought that we would revisit The George as it used to be superb. It was obvious that management had changed since we'd last visited.The George used to be pricey but we didnt mind occasionally going as the food & service was worth it. We ordered the pork belly and the Angus beef burger on a GF bun.
The pork belly was all FAT with one tiny piece of meat without exaggeration.
I alerted the staff of the issue and they took it back without saying anything. Five minutes later another plate arrived without any words of apology. The meat portion was better but i left feeling hungry $36 later.
My wife's burger was a kids size meal and $24. The bun was too small for the filling and she found it difficult to eat. We chose not to order cake or coffee but normally would have. We left shortly after & spoke to the cashier and she apologised. We told her that we would not be coming back but told her in a friendly manner that by no means it was her fault. As locals we enjoy going out to restaurants in Bathurst and the food is usually exceptional but I would never recommend anyone to visit this restaurant. It's such a shame the food & service has declined to to this level. The same waiter that served us was behind the bar listening to our complaint but said nothing. On a good note the LLB at the bar was made perfectly.

Had their cheeseburger and fries. Delicious, just enough mustard to tomato sauce to pickles. Came out fast ,fries were hot and crunchy. It's a little pricey at $18, but it's delicious.

Have been in Bathurst for a while and tried many restaurants-food was first class and we told staff this was the case. Experience however very much soured after being chased down the street by staff member saying we had left without paying -we paid at time of ordering 1 hour earlier and were advised 'it takes a while for transaction to go through'. Everyone makes mistakes but only a slight apology after being thoroughly embarrassed for no reason

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights and on arrival the bar staff were very friendly, and we were even shown to our room. We had dinner at the restaurant one of the nights, service was quick and food was tasty.
The rooms are basic, but exactly what you need. Clean and comfortable. The only downside was that I was woken up at 5/6am each morning by a man coughing all morning and then clammering around at 7am (Although I never heard noise from the pub downstairs!). If you are a light sleeper, I would not recommend, but otherwise it was fine and a great location!

A mate took me here for birthday beers on a Friday afternoon. It was happy hour from 4pm til 6pm so our Stone and Wood's were only $6 each???'??. It was quite busy with a pretty good atmosphere

Enjoyed a weekend away staying at The George.

It's an older building so if you're going to be worried about the things like the bathrooms being old (water pressure was poor so showering might have become annoying over a longer stay) and hearing the sounds of the plumbing from adjoining bathrooms then you should probably spend a bit more for a higher standard accommodation.

But if you can overlook those minor inconveniences the rooms are otherwise well maintained with the paint and carpets quite fresh. The bed was firm but comfortable with electric blankets. Simple clean rooms right on the edge of the CBD that we found perfect for a short stay.

You get a $5 per person per night voucher for the in house cafe Drake and Duck so breakfast is easy to sort. We just used these for coffee and tea but they have a reasonable cafe breakfast menu.

The pub itself is great. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere especially on Friday night. The bistro was so good we decided to eat there both nights. Delicious pub food and a nice selection of local wines to complement the menu. We were able to grab the lounge by the fire both nights which just made it perfect.

Great budget option for a Bathurst short stay.

A beautiful chicken schnitzel. Well seasoned and the chunky potato chips were Devine. So fluffy on the inside. We also got the beef burger which was good.

We were so fortunate to have lunch here last weekend.
The Food was outstanding, the wines suggested and the Hospitality shown buy the staff was outstanding.
Special mention to Matthew the manager, he's a true publican that understands his guests and we cannot recommend he and his staff highly enough.

Nice atmosphere in the pub. Rooms too small and need updating. The restaurant in this place is something special! Had the most magnificent meal ever. Staff are great and work so hard. Make sure you book for dinner

My wife and I, enjoyed our meal one early afternoon but you do have to pay for good service. Not to say it wasn't worth it, it was delicious food, well prepared and served.

Lots of GF on the menu. Staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating with my dietary requirements. Meal was fantastic. Definitely recommend here for a night out.

Ribs Monday Special - loved it. Professional staff with quick service. Spacious, clean layout too.

Stopped in for dinner and it delivered the gastro pub feel. Excellent wine on offer and reasonable prices, friendly service and generous food portions. The barramundi was beautifully cooked and well seasoned. With a party of 6 and everyone raved about the food. If you are in town, definitely a spot for a nice meal.

Arrived with my family for dinner tonight and our initial impressions were positive.

However the service was appalling, the bar staff were incompetent.. I lined up at what seemed like the Main "front" Bar, as a young man was making cocktails, he then proceeded to walk past me and serve 5 people at the other bar who turned up after myself. Not a major problem, I was in no hurry but not a great look, and some customers would take it more personally. As for our meals, my daughter has allergies and the staff weren't very informed or knowledgeable about their... relatively small menu....

Then as for the actual food, we couldn't fault it, but it is very overpriced, for portion size and venue/area, also did not see a manager/supervisor around?? Seemed to be only young staff members.

Huge room for improvement, a venue with large potential I believe, and seems more staff training required/some form of management??? Also not near enough staff for how busy the venue was.

We may be back in the future but I hope for huge improvement, and hopefully a larger menu??

Great friendly service. Very attractively furnished bar and restaurant. Sadly uncomfortable bed and pillows. Good location with walk to everything. Quiet location.
