I called in to the Crest hotel for beer today.
I found the staff polite and accommodating, today I decided to give there home made chicken pie on a bed of mash and peas with a side of gravy .
The pie did not disappoint I give it a solid 9 and the overall dish a 10 a very simple dish and a old favourite of mine.
I asked the manager ( Geoff) who made this delicious pie and he said there made here on the premises .
Apparently they have a weekly special with pies so I will be looking forward to trying some of the chef's other flavours I also complimented the chef, and he was very humbled bye my compliment .

Very cheap yum food, old fashioned pub meals, however the manager was an a hole!! the man with the short shorts and moustache kicked out a table of 2 girls (in the dining area who just wanted food) because they were under 25 and didn't have a 'legal guardian'. While they were 20 and 15 years old. Absolute idiot making up rules as he pleases. Last time i checked you didn't need your legal guardian with you to order a food or paperwork to confirm your someone's legal guardian? There was also many tables of children throughout the restaurant!

Food and service was great as you would expect in a pub style setting. Staff were friendly and accommodating to some changes to meals because of dietary requirements. My steak was excellent. The atmosphere/decor needs a little attention. Definitely will go back though.

Our initial experience here at crest hotel was the most terrible thing we've experienced. The bold seccy was so rude and so disrespectful- burping right in our faces and felt as if he was racially profiling us. His attitude and overall demeaner was so negative and unwelcoming. This is my first ever google review and I simply could not let this go as this was the first time someone was so disrespectful right in our faces. I would NEVER recommend people to come here at all just because of him. We also work in hospitality and I have never come across someone so rude and entitled.
He checked my ID on the NSW service app which clearly shows my DOB and denied entry stating there was too many fake IDs nowadays. This guy i swear was on some massive powertrip, I was speechless. We were looking for places to eat. We did not come here to drink at all.
He is old and does not understand how technology works and was questioning when I logged in using my friend's service app. He let us in in the end but I lost my appetite and did not want to eat here at all.
Bistro worker was nice tho.

Slightly disappointed considering I usually have great experience, however tonight's experience not so much, the lovely staff member that so kindly collected my partner and my own still half full drinks and then gave me a nasty attitude when I mentioned she had just taken our drinks and then proceeded to grab a fellow bartender and point fingers at me rather than offering an apology and maybe a replacement beverage considering she had just taken two of my beverages that I payed for. Not very great customer service and that ended my evening early with frustration, good work ??'??

After one bad experience I let it go because we all have bad days but it happens nearly every time I come here. The bouncer is on a massive power trip and makes the whole night go sour. The staff also have an attitude that we are an inconvenience to them. The other night my group and I left our table and walked out before we ordered to go somewhere else. Not worth it, much better pubs to go to.

Thought the food was ok.. bought food for the whole family, but had a voucher so one meal was free. I think the whole family thought it was good.. portions were ok.. I don't think anything stood out as 'great'. My only gripe was the carrots were basically raw that came with my steak.

Enjoyed the location atmosphere and watching the game. Hit the chicken winglets $15 loved it.

Old style pub, with great atmosphere, needs to be refurbished, if you accept it for what it is, you will have a great time. Food was excellent, friendly staff and excellent prices. Will definitely be back.

Loved the food & the vibe. The Shire Schnitzel was amazing. Wings and ribs were excellent, slightly bummed that the menu didn't mention the ribs are beef not pork. Regardless they were still great and the portion was huge.
Really enjoyed this pub. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Nice quiet place for family. Kids meal r fantastic with drink, ice cream n activity pack. Ribs r beautiful n good serving. Will come again.

Good if you want to get assaulted by the female Maori manager for asking if you can have a correct amount of pool table balls after paying to use the pool table and the balls being incorrect. Been going there for years will never recommend or go there again after literally being attacked by the manager.

I generally love this place but tonight my steak was awful. I ordered med-rare and got super well done. The Diane sauce yasted like powder gravy. I ordered the prawn topper as well and those were tender and delicious. But again the hero of the dish was inedible ?

Found this pub by accident, what a gem.
Meals are a great size and don't break your bank and the mojitos are yum! . . Now everytime we are passing through and it's around dinner time, we now stop in our little favourite pub!

Staff are friendly, food generally comes out quick and pretty good. We are partial to the 'Shire' schnitzel. The entertainment evenings are always fun.

This pub used to be good but not anymore. I used to come with my family every week for trivia night and spent bdays and celebrations here.

Tonight(Wednesday) is burger specials, so I ordered the Haloumi Burger and they told me that was the only one that wasn't included in the deal - weird because 1st, is the cheapest burger on the menu, and 2nd doesn't say anything in any of the ads or anywhere. The ad inside the venue clearly says ANY burger from the menu. But ok, being the only veggie burger I just paid the full price.

Then when the burger arrived was my biggest disappointment. This burger used to be SO delicious and good size, but now it was really small and flavourless. I recommended to my friends and I was embarrassed that I did- sadly.
Unfortunately we won't go back.

Discrimination based on medical status. Boycott and don't spend your money here. The security guard is rude and is claiming the status of your medical vaccine is a government requirement. We are in January 2022. Very I'll informed

Good food here, recently they have removed the only cider they had on tap which means we won't be coming back unfortunately.
With so many beer options, but no cider - cater to a wider clientele please.

Agree with the arbitrary rules mentioned by others about masks, same happened to us. I showed the staff member the NSW Health website which specifically tells you NOT to wear masks on your chin due to germ spread.

Lots of potential here, hope we can get cider back ?

Wouldn't allow me to be seated with a beer without wearing a face mask on my chin. If your seated , and drinking, you must have your mask on your chin. Making up their own Covid rules. Take your money elsewhere. Plenty of venues excited to have people back post lockdown. This place isnt one of them.

A nice quiet pub to chill out in on a Saturday night. The menu is great and the beer is cold. Staff are very friendly as well. I will definitely be back.

Had a late dinner there on Wednesday night. Both service and food were good. No complaints.

Family atmosphere. Big screen and lots of TVs to watch your favourite sports whilst having a meal which are reasonably priced. Heads up the parmy goes good. Salad was tasty. Shout out to Marty and the Pokermania team who run a great night of poker.

Has to be one of my favourite spots in the shire. Great meals and deals, several TVs around for sport when it's on and some great activities on throughout the week. Also a fantastic place to grab a few cocktails on a Friday/Saturday night with a group of mates and it won't break the bank !!! ?

We were in the area to pick up some shopping and thought we'd try out the local pub. We weren't expecting too much but we were pleasantly surprised! Best pub food we had both had in a long time. Cooked well, super tasty and generous servings. Will be back for sure!

Best ribeye steak and vegetables I have had including the way it was cooked, as I like my meat medium no blood or rawness and it was cooked to perfection, the staff are very helpful and friendly always smiling and up for a chat and on board with COVID regulations, a great menu to choose from with live sport to watch, as well close to shops at Southgate Shopping Centre which has everything under one roof and on one floor including several banks and supermarkets.Probably thanks to a few raw steaks from time to time ,nobodys perfect in a hot kitchen.

Enjoyed a delightful fresh grilled chicken burger. Coffee was hot and made to my liking. Staff so friendly and eager to ensure you enjoy a good customer experience.Appreciated The Crest's adherence to COVID-19 regulations. I felt extremely safe, comfortable and relaxed. Very clean open ambience. A great place for all family members.Highly recommend you visit and try the vast menu and the daily specials. I'm sure even the fusiest Eater or Vegetarian will find a suitable and scrumptious treat. Great food and very reasonably priced.Enjoy

I was asked to leave after 3 mid strength schooners because I had "glassy eyes". Was sitting quietly with family members, only time I have ever been asked to leave a pub. I struggle to understand the reasoning, and even though this is my local pub, it will likely be a long while until I return.

Very good veggie burgers. Large portions. Very good quality. Self service. Staff friendly and helpful. Well worth the visit. Vegetarian options available too. Definitely will come back to this restaurant next time.
