Had some food and drinks here last week - was very excited to see they had a Tofu Parmi. You could make the dish vegan, so I did, expecting there to be a vegan cheese replacement.

However, it just came out without any cheese, which was a bit underwhelming - it was less a vegan option and more the same dish without cheese, but for the same price.

It's a pity because the breaded tofu itself was delicious, and the idea of a tofu parmi is awesome.

Overall, big props for attempting to make a really good meat-free pub dish, but sad to see them go almost all the way and then not bother to make a quality vegan version of the dish.

Regardless, good to see a pub being creative with their food! Love the atmosphere and drinks too.

Usually a good meal on a Wednesday at Coopers - unfortunately the 2 for 1 promotion is no more but it has been replaced with a $20 max spend on any food item

Most of our group opted for the scotch fillet - unfortunately the kitchen team tonight hadn't quite got the hang of the cooking time as despite different selections of serving preference, most came out rare at best and those who opted for rare got blue
The meat itself was delicious and certainly didn't give the impression of a cheap cut, just needs a bit of finesse from the kitchen team.
The chips also didn't taste particularly fresh and the sauce on the parmigiana looked and tasted a bit stale

Good atmosphere and very friendly staff - without the 2 for 1 it's much easier to get a table for larger groups

We always have a good chat & a great lunch meal here. My gnocchi was delicious. It is upstairs & away from the noise of King St.

House fries very below par, Arancini balls were terrible with an embarrassing presentation. Kids burger was the only strong point, hard to stuff that one up though. Now the lamb pizza is a bloody abomination. I truely wouldn't feed it to my dog. The pizza is so obviously microwaved, it was cold in the centre, dripping with condensation and looked absolutely filth. I would not recommend this place for a nice and/or budget friendly meal

I walked into coopers feeling slightly under the weather. It was my lucky day as I was met with the smiling Laine who made me the spiciest tastiest strongest Bloody Mary that would knock your socks off. Would do again.

The food was good. Service was exceptional. There was a young sweetheart named Lane - she was delightful and my wife and I had a long chat to her. We appreciated this as I was down for treatment, and the city can seem unfriendly but this made the trip pleasant. We would come back based on our experience with this lovely young lady.

This has always been my favourite Newtown spot for drinks or dinner with friends. I recently had my 40th birthday there with over 20 friends and it was the best night! The atmosphere on the rooftop is the best and the staff were literally so helpful in booking it & bringing plates for everyone when the cake came. It was the most fun & easy night. Great work guys! x

We had the best time celebrating my birthday here. Benji was amazing looking after us. So friendly, funny and very hospitable. Thank you Benji for everything and for my special delicious birthday surprise. Very thoughtful and kind.

Gotta be one of the best pubs in Newtown. Still has that locals vibe downstairs which is good to see and then the huge indoor/outdoor space upstairs serves great value meals, with decent daily meal specials and cocktails only $14 all the time! No meals over $20 on a Friday is my fave day at Coopers! All staff are the kindest of people, friendly, welcoming and brighten your day. Very LGBTQ+ friendly. Better than any other pubs in the area in my opinion.

Great pub in Newtown and I love the rooftop area. Able to order on the table through a QR code, and service is friendly. Love the cocktail specials ($12 happy hour but $14 generally which I think is super affordable). Pizza is good but not great, but again, affordable so can't really complain. Will definitely be back!

One of my favourite pubs in Newtown with great staff, drinks and food. There is a lovely rooftop area with plenty of seating. This is a bright and airy pub. Toilets are very clean and tidy as well.

We stopped in for a couple of pre dinner drinks. Upon entry, the pub looked a bit deserted, but then we followed the rainbow stairs to the rooftop patio and it had a totally different vibe. We're keen to go back and try the food. They've got some great specials too including $15 beer jugs and $22 carafes of cocktails

Great food at affordable prices, even more enticing when there are extra specials at times! I keep bringing friends for the beer battered fish & chips with salad lunch: even now at only $14. My friends all agree that's a great lunch.

Lunch and drinks with friends. We enjoyed the comfort of our corner table upstairs with some delicious food, with generous servings and delicious array of drinks. The service was fantastic with some great interaction by the staff during the several hours of us catching up. Great location and great vibe.

The food is great, decently priced beers, and very cozy ambiance. They honestly have the best deals -- 2 for 1 on Wednesdays is god-send. Some jugs are even $15 all day. Definitely lucky to have this as my local pub.

Lovely pub on the corner in the heart of Newtown, with quiet upstairs restaurant area, which has a small terrace.

Luckily went for a late lunch and the kitchen was still open (just made it). I ordered the market fish special (today was barramundi) and loaded mash potatoes; my friend ordered the lamb salad.

Had to wait 30-40 minutes, when the kitchen was not busy at all was slightly annoying, I had to check they were making our order.

Food was great when it came out (my fish was amazing but I didn't enjoy the loaded mashed potatoes - way too dry), prices were on the expensive side, but it comes with being in Newtown, I think.

Friendly service. The restaurant area was quiet, which I like (but again, I went in at 14:00, it might be noisy at proper lunch time), was able to have a good conversation with my friend.

First and LAST time I will ever come here. Mediocre food and drinks and if you are a POC you will likely be unfairly targeted and refused service AFTER bringing 20 or so people to spend plenty of money on said food/drinks. How convenient. Don't let the 5 star reviews fool you. There are plenty of other respectable establishments to go to instead!

Excellent staff that always know how to make you feel welcome. Always make the atmosphere great! A true locals pub, with cheap deals and hectic roof top. A safe and inclusive space.

Despite its Newtown location, the Coopers is still quite a 'local' pub. Their upstairs dining area is expansive with a very cleverly designed outside seating area. Great food, not just the usual pub fare.

Nice local pub. Don't eat for a bit before you come for lunch or dinner here, the portions are brilliant. Yum delicious food - like real pub food; beer - enough said right there. Staff nice, good value, rooftop is good :)

The coopers is one of the great pubs of Newtown. The ground floor is a classic grungy pub with a jukebox, TAB & pokies. While upstairs is a more refined pub restaurant and iconic outdoor area.

The rooftop outdoor area is the place to be whenever the sun is out.

The menu here is a mix of classic pub dishes and more contemporary dishes. They have a great mix of meat, vegetarian and vegan options.

Popped in last week for lunch and chose dishes from the $12.50 lunch specials. The 200gm steak, chips and salad was perfectly cooked with no inedible grizzle. The pasta was sensational, generous portion with a creamy bacon and mushroom sauce. Coupled with a $15 jug of beer it was a perfect lunch at a reasonable price. Definitely be back.

Great inside/outside upstairs. Avoid the Sunday roast if its beef. Got a bit of meat that was tougher then an old boot. Good classic pub downstairs for the local elder gentlemen.

My all time favourite place in Newtown. Always tasty food, friendly staff, good drinks. Whenever I go to Newtown , Coopers Hotel is a must place to visit

My partner & I love this place. Go about once a week. Great beer garden up stairs where the roof opens up when the weathers nice. Awesome food & really friendly helpful staff.

The food was really good! We got the chicken burger, tuna steak(special), steak sandwich and the falafel roll. Service was quick, really friendly, the place was clean and welcoming.The prices were reasonable, so we will be back!

Great jugs... the jugs are amazing and massive. some absolutely massive huge jugs.would of gave 5 star, however as a keen poker fan, I was bewildered to hear that poker was not available after previously enjoying a great viewing of poker here previously.... 1 word to describe this.... pathetic
